  1. Depends on what chapter you are doing, and how complex you are interested in making them. I did an extremely simple Crimson Fist Gravis chaplain when Indomitus came out. Just didn't like the model as a captain. It's on my WIP log here. The crozius is just part of either a grey knight staff with a banner top swapped out for the skull. As for the Apothecary...I would just take the bits you want from the primaris apothecary kit. With some filing/sanding, the chirugeon bits on his back could be made to fit the gravis pack. Then just some hand swaps for the weapons. With all the upgrade kits out now, there's probably a lot more you can do with it too.
  2. Alpharius the Angry!
  3. I was looking at similar lightboxes earlier too, didn't realize there were some that came cheaply enough. I had something rigged, and wasn't ready to spend $60+ on one...this will actually work great as something to try out. Also, if you are using your phone, turn voice command on. Then you don't have to worry about it shaking when you try to take the pic, you can just tell it to shoot after adjusting all of your settings.
  4. Legion Butcher is done. Overall happy with this one. Picture could be better - may take some better ones later.

  6. I am pretty sure the claw with the heavy flamer is probably the Huron Blackheart rumor...though TBF if may be responsible for the rumor that Huron has a new model. Some might say it's the wrong hand, but GW has mirrored and flipped images on the RE around before. I would be dissapointed if the World Eaters don't get a unique deamon engine as part of their codex though. I am really hoping Juggerlords get brought back. I had a Juggerlord half finished at the end of 7th, and now its just sitting around covered in dust. I am thinking of finishing it and running it as a Lord Discordant though. If WE comes out and they don't get Juggernaughts, and they lose access to the Lord Discordant, I will probably run it as a Red Corsair or Black Legion model with the mark of Khorne.
  7. Red Corsair Heavy Gunner is still paint in progress. Needs a lot of clean-up, especially on the face. But, I am probably going to move on to other models first.
  8. If we assume the Skarbrand rumored profile is 100%, and Agron gets the Daemonic save, my money is on whichever one goes first, with combat lasting 2 rounds, and assuming average luck. If Agron doesn't get the daemonic save, then combat is going to last 1 round in Skarbrand's favor regardless of who goes first. I think Angron is going to be Str 9 (which means he will wound Skar on a 2+) and T8, but is going to have 18 wounds. If they give him 10 attacks, that would be bold, and then he might be able to 1 round Skar with above average luck. I don't think they will.
  9. All they got in Rogue Trader was part of a heraldry page with some artwork of their banner (a book with a serpent-dragon burrowing through the pages) along with three shoulder pads. 2 were black with flames on the trim, and the last was just black with the star of chaos. This appeared in Slaves to Darkness. When 2nd edition came around, their first painted models were dark red you see today. I am not sure if they may have appeared in a White Dwarf before that. The original art from Slaves to Darkness was re-published in the Index Chaotica, it's about midway down the page. https://www.ozdestro.com/beardy-hammer-blog/chaotica-apocrypha-review-good-bad-or-chaotic-neutral
  10. The moment I saw that model, I was like, "hey, it's the Master of Executions! Pre 10k years in the Eye, of course." He even has a similar style trophy rack. He's just lost a lot of weight, perhaps should have worn his helmet more frequently...you know...these things happen in the Eye. Honestly, I love that model. If I was willing to spend more money on GW models right now, I would pick up a box just to get that guy, along with the Spartan and the Contemptor. As it is, I have enough stuff from GW that I still haven't painted or in some cases assembled. I am also currently not particularly inclined to get more until the World Eaters actually get their codex.
  11. I don't think so. Not something any of the official models came with.
  12. I like the rules in this codex, I think they are good, but I am primarily a hobbyist who likes to be able to play with the models I kit-bash/convert etc. That means I'm actually pretty unhappy with it. I think the petition should be kind of expanded regarding all of the HQ choices. So, sure, they "range rotated" out a lot of those models that had the options, but many of them. Only recently did they get rid of the Sorcerer with the Force Sword, and Tzeench sorcerers have power swords, so why can't they join the Black Legion for example. Sigh. I think Out of the Box options only are just dumb, and take a LOT of the hobby out of the game. Almost like the pendulum is swinging from "Were primarily a miniature company" to far the other direction, and they still can't manage rules that don't break the game with half their new codexes anyway. I'm going to end up getting the codex, but, I think, until the WE codex comes out, I'm probably not buying many more chaos models (I have plenty unpainted), and going to wait for World Eaters to come out. Till then, I think I am just going to play Kill Team. I might play a game of two with larger forces, I have enough already painted, and I have tons of cultists already and a plan to convert some into Dark Commune. I will note, when the second round of Space Marine codexes come out, if they do the same thing, a lot of Space Wolf players probably going to be feelin' the curse of the Wulfen. Not to mention all the Smash-Lords.
  13. Glad the site is back up, time to play with the new features! I really like being able to resize the photos in post! More WIP on my Red Corsairs kill team, some reposing and some ripped off and replaced limbs, etc. Still some sculpting to do on the Shrive Talon. First, the Corsair Butcher, a former Ultramarine. Mostly painted, still unfinished, becuase I am still working on adding trophies to his power pack. The Balefire Adept, a former Space Wolf Blood Claw, and I might post a little history with him and the others when I finishe painting them. Former Son of Medusa, now Corsair Heavy Gunner. I decided I wanted some options between the Chain Cannon and Heavy Bolter, so here is this guy, and I have a different model ready for painting with the Chain Cannon (which with a lot of patience, is in place on that model). This guy also has the heavy bolter magnetized, and I am going to make an alternative arm to have a Plasma Gun on so he can be just a gunner if I want. Corsair Shrive-Talon, I had an idea that this guy is going to be a former Blood Angel, or maybe even Lamentor, but really could have come from any of them. He relishes the screams of his suffering as much as, perhaps more than, the taste of their blood. As a note on this guy, this head is from the Custodes Blade Champion, and I think whomever was responsible for that sprue must have been new at the job or something. The Blade Champion is definitely getting the helmeted head, because BOTH of the bare heads have the sprue gate right in the MIDDLE of their hair instead of at the base of the neck like nearly every other head on sprue that GW makes. And this part isn't flat, it has texture that goes right into that gate. I also put together a squad of Khorne Berzerkers, pics on those probaly tomorrow. Need to take the pics and edit them.
