Hi Folks, 3 weeks have passed and died since the launch of CtA25 and I already have a significant progress on my pledge. The first 2 weeks allowed me covering the painting of the Hand of the Archon and my kitbashed Archon. 1 unit per week, as per my usual painting rate when I am fully dedicated. Yet these last days I progressed significatively shifting all my enlisted vehicles into the “painted” section of the list. Which raised my rhythm to 3 units in one week. Anecdotally I also managed adding (finishing the details and basing) two Trolls for my Night Goblin army for the Old World… But this last comment is out of topic. The Venoms were already started during the second week, at least for the base colors applied on hull. Then came the panel lining and all the details. I have started working in parallel on the Raider. The key reason was bound to my objective of using Wyches from the Venoms as crew for the Raider. I therefore had to make some trials and tests in positioning to see if I maintained the plan or changed it back to setting the gladiatoresses (does this word exist?) on the platformed bikes instead. Blank mounting looked OK and additional Wych crew beyond the gunner and the pilot was quite OK looking once positions defined. It closed the fate of the Raider and Venoms: the hoovering barge will be confirmed as a Wych club transport while the Venoms will receive Kabalite gunners and maybe extra crew hanging around. Yet in this latter case the extra members from the Raider’s kit are not exactly keen on being set on venoms, except at expense of cutting through the plastic which I preferred not to at the moment (I still have to deal with my cut finger and I do rather avoid playing with sharp edged tools at least for a few weeks, time to restore some dexterity…). The Venoms were painted as per the scheme I used for my previous Drukhari vehicles (Incubi darkness base); it made the process faster as I did not have to spend time into selecting and testing a scheme. Prepainted parts were them smoothly assembled, et voilà: Two Venoms, built using the two options for their silhouette. One received the hooked Kabalite on one side, plus skulls from the Raider’s sprue. The Raider has finally been set into a bicolor scheme largely inspired by others’ work found on internet. The red prow has been highlighted with a blood/gore red to make it more aggressive. Wych crew has been customized to get mor characterful models on board. The ship mistress received a whip, while one of the Wych hanging around got a net, a good tool to capture hostages and victims to be sold as salves in the Dark City market places… The Wyches themselves were painted trying to get close to a simple black and red color scheme as one of the examples proposed on the GW webstore. I was looking for something different from my Kabalite blue/green without entering in too many details (I ran out of 000 and 0000 brushes). Black base dry brushed with Mechanicum grey makes the work, plus my usual red recipe on armored parts (Mephiston red, glazed with Flesh Tearers Red and a bright gore red for more marked than usual highlights). Leather (XV88+Agrax earthshade) and Wraithbone/Skeleton horde touches for the details. I am quite happy by the end result even if assembly of the prepainted parts ended up being more complicated than what I experienced previously with my other Raider and Ravager. For some reason, parts were misaligned, and it left some gaps. Fortunately enough, this is visible only if the model is flipped heads over feet, so, in the end, it is not such a big deal… So what is left in the vow? 10 Wyches and their Succubus. Black base has been applied overnight (No need of many visibilities for that part). With the scheme already tested and the limited number of steps required to reach the same result as on the crew of the raider, I may eventually be able to get it finished before Bastille Day. Or not. It will depend on the kid’s activities now that holidays have started. Let’s see how much time I will need…

Hi Folks. Although I did not benefit from the bank holiday at 100% (Being in a new position I have no day off allowed to complete and extend such vacationnal opportunities atm) I managed to complete the painting of the Raider in a very short time span. I am slowly recovering the production rhythm I had last year at the same date, before moving and losing my hobby space. Temperatures raising allowed me to invade the green house set next to the hhouse, although I shall store my paints in a fresher place as they dry too fast even in pots because of temperature under such a glass cover... The Raider's passengers are not the most sympathetic models available. Not only because they are spiky socipaths but also because their are not offering than much option to be set and positionned in other parts of the models. Unless you remodel whole sections such as legs... I wanted to add some extra crew as I have all the ones left from the ravager kit available but I the end I gave up. Maybe these bodies will find any other usage for kitbashes or conversions... I wonder if they might fit on Venoms? And here come both Ravager and Raider sailing together. I only miss adding some decals and it will be done. Next kits to be painted for Drukhariis are the 2 units of 5 Scourges I have. I al still wondering about a colour scheme for the feathered wings. May be dark blue and red... Unless I go back to Aeldarii or Corsairs. I have several kits awaiting and options available before deciding for the next Project. See you again with more pointy ears soon.

Hi folks, Work has progressed these days. Both hulls and sails are now done for the Raider and the Ravager. The raider is closing to completion, with all main parts done, except the crew. The sailors operating this assault barge are about 50% done, with all base colours applied; detailing will take more time, especially the weapons as I tried new tricks, a.k.a. not painting their tools of death in a single colour... It is a process. So it requires time. The ravager has progressed too, with the next focus on the sponsons and dark lances. As this ship will go full dark lances. I did not use so much parts from the specific Ravager's sprue. I favoured instead using at max what was left from the Raider. I hate being left with spare bits on multiple half used sprue if I can terminate one instead. A small close up of the sail and the beam that will be used to interlock the sponsons... Bone is done with wraithbone, washed with Skeleton Horde and then dry washed with Wraithbone and Pallid Wych Flesh. It is a little bit dirty as my paint pots are rather dry and developp too much thickness or even grains. I should dillute them a little bit or renew the stock... Same goes with the white for the saill So, in the end nothing too extravagant so far. See you in part III when the crew will have progressed a little bit more. I plan to use them all and load the Raider as per the coverbox: with the 3 Kabalites hanging around. See you soon.

Hi Folks, It has been a while since I touched to my Dark kins. My initial motivation was guided by the reinforcement of my (old, very old) Aeldarii army. My plan was to go Ynnarii and add a tactical depth brought by the deep striking Dark Eldars plus some signature units such as Scourges and Mandrakes. The plan was blown away by the Release of the Aeldarii codex. Which left me with some minis unbuilt and waiting in the pile of shame. I decided it was time to resolve this issue and complete at least the painting. once the force will be completed with what I have I will take a decision between completing it to a decent size for gaming or selling what exceed the absorbtion capacity of the Ynnarii. Seen my current pace, it is likely that the Drukhari Codex will be out before I take any decision and, maybe, Corsairs faction if added at the same time, will lead me to reconsider the whole flushing. In the mean time, let's go painting. I did my Kabalite in a Arkhelian green scheme. but for the vehicles, it is not a colour I find appealing. too much tone on tone. So I decided to go Incubi Darkness, which is a colour I like. After asking about best colour for panel lining (Question about colour choice to highligth incube darkness - + GENERAL PCA QUESTIONS + - The Bolter and Chainsword vs. But in fact the difference is bigger. which makes it rather OK and not so far away I think vs. the Citadel Colour App guidelines. So, how does it go so far? I set the hull bottom in bone colour, in order to remind the wraithbone underneath structure of my other Asuryani's vehicles The panels in Incubi darkness lined with SoH green end up quite well. Panel lining in not my preferred technique and combination of hands shaking and poor brush quality requires quite a patience and a lot of corrective painting for thinker lines. With this raider's hull test model, I end up being quite satisfied. I guess next step is to compelte the job and see how extra details may break the monolithic colour impact of this dark green. See you in a next episode with more progress. bouargh PS: I am adding the chart I found back. It is a little bit old but it looks like it is not that different from what's in the App...

The Fra’al are an ancient race of void dwelling pirates, smugglers, black-market traders, and occasional conquerors, which have plagued the Galactic Northwest of the Milky Way for eons. Though their origin worlds are lost to all, including the Fra’al themselves who have forgotten much of their pre-void nomadic wandering, they may fact never had such terrestrial beginnings. What is known is that they are remembered by most other races of antiquity including records kept by the ancient ancestors of the Eldar from before the Fall and the birth of Slaanesh, as well as Human empires rising to prominence before their annihilation during the Age of Strife. Today the Fra’al Conclaves still reap a bitter harvest from the various void-ways and warp-translation lanes, taking what can be acquired by force or otherwise through guile and negotiation. When conflict is preferred or forced upon them, the Fra’al use their innate monstrous Psykana and Aetherically-saturated technology to destroy their enemies. The Version 1.1 Fandex contains the following homebrew lore and rules to play as the Fra'al in 9th Edition WH40K: - Lore on the Fra'al based on Black Library & Forgeworld resources, as well as originally created lore and content. - Detachment Rules and <Conclave> Customisation abilities. - Fra'al Weapons and Wargear rules. - Fra'al Stratagems, Warlord Traits, Aetheric Artefacts, and the new Malevolency Psychic Discipline. - 12 Unique Datasheets for Fra'al HQ, Troops, Elites, Fast Attack, Heavy Support, Flyers, and Lords of War. - Initial Concept Artwork for the Fra'al Troops and Aether-Golems.
