Well, its certainly been a hot minute this time hasn't it. I'm not really sure where 2024 went but I didn't get an awful lot done last year, and I'm determined to do things better this time! Last year I progressed a bit more with the Leviathan boxset, and by year's end had just eleven space marines left to do. Which sounds good until you consider that in my last post that number was eighteen and that the space marine contingent started off at twenty four. Yeah, I didn't hobby well. There's a lot of reasons I could give as to why this was the case but it doesn't change the fact that it happened. That's why I want to try and do better this year. To that end, I'm looking at setting myself some challenges. These will be aimed to either do something I've not done ever while also tackling my pile of potential. Let's dive in to it shall we: First challenge: Complete Leviathan Yes, a hold over from last year. This one should be obvious yet the most easiest as all that's left is to finish the Sternguard Veterans and the last five Infernus Marines. The Sternguard are currently at this stage- They've been base coated, washed, had the blue, white relayered. The Sargent has even had further work with his tabard and helmet getting cleaned up. The Infernus Marines are blue, not much to say there. With that in mind, I'm wanting to try something that was suggested to me in the Forums, that of barrel drilling! I've loaned a small drill for a different task (more on that one in a bit), just need to see if I've got the right size bits. Of all the challenges I've got planned, this is the one giving me pause. Had I done this before undercoating anything, I think it'd be easier to get my head around on doing. The second challenge is probably the hardest painting wise. Simply put, I'm painting a Primarch. Lion'el Johnson to be precise, and I'm not just doing it once, I'm doing it twice. See, I got him as part of my desire to collect loyalist primarchs (pretty easy since there is only two of them so far!) However my son also wanted and got him as part of his dark angels army. Benefit here is that in keeping with the rest of his army, he wants winged helmet, while I'm going bare head all the way. Once they're done, my aim is to paint Dark Angels till July comes around. Third Challenge...is a presumption on my part, that there's going to be another Call to Arms event. If there is, it's bug time once again. I've been slowly expanding my Tyranids with 9 more Leapers, a full brood of Hormagaunts and a Hive Tyrant. The Hive Tyrant is the reason I got the drill. Someone at my FLGS suggested that by magnetising all the weapon options and wings, and using the Winged Tyrant legs and tail, that I could have my cake and eat it. I would have a modular Hive Tyrant that could serve as a normal one, a winged one and the Swarmlord if I also do the head (if I can). My original option was just to buy a torso piece from somewhere and have two Hive Tyrants...May still do that, comments are welcome! I'm still tempted to grab a few more bugs to add to the pile maybe a Tyrannofex or a Biovore, maybe one of the new Lictors. Got six months to figure out what I want! After September...depends on how things turn out GW release schedule wise. If a certain faction of Space Marine is released, my nids will finally have their true base rivals (i like to base my armies in opposing pairs, Ultramarines vs Necron, Tyranids vs...well, let's see). Though GW may not get much more money out of me due to another company entering the tabletop market with a franchise I love, I'm sure there's plenty of painting in my future. My plan is to update the blog whenever I hit a milestone (like finishing these bloody Sternguard for instance!) Till next time! (Will hopefully not be another year!)

I tried my hand at updating the detachment rule and stratagems to make something that's a bit easier to activate and simpler to track. Detachment Rule Deeds Worthy of Saga Legendary deeds in the midst of battle are an intoxicating mead. Those who witness them are inspired to greater feats of daring and valour, determined to prove themselves worthy of their champions. When an Oath of Moment target is destroyed, until the beginning of your next Command Phase, weapons equipped by units with the Oath of Moment ability gain the Sustained Hits 1 ability and improve their AP by 1 on a Critical Wound. If the Oath of the Moment target was destroyed by a Character, units with the Oath of Moment ability Critical Hit on a roll of 5+ until the beginning of your next Command Phase. Stratagems Armour of Contempt (1 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM As per C:SM and other detachments Saga of the Beastslayer (1 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM With the scent of blood in the air and the rushing joy of battle surging through every true warrior’s hearts, even the greatest quarry can be brought down. WHEN: Fight phase. TARGET: One ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit from your army that has not been selected to fight this phase. EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, improve the Armour Penetration characteristic of melee weapons equipped by models in your unit by 1. If a MONSTER or VEHICLE unit has been destroyed by your army, until the end of the phase, such weapons have the [LANCE] ability as well. Saga of the Bear (2 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM Lorem ipsum. WHEN: Your opponent’s Shooting phase or the Fight phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets. TARGET: One ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks. EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, models in your unit have the Feel No Pain 5+ ability. If the unit is Below Half-Strength, models in your unit have the Feel No Pain 4+ ability instead. Saga of the Hunter (1 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM Having stalked their prey or run them to ground, all that remains is to go for the enemy’s weakest points, to rip them apart in a furious bloodletting. Onlookers are stricken with terror at the bloody spectacle, an instant before the sons of Russ pounce upon them. WHEN: Fight phase TARGET: One ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit from your army that destroyed one or more enemy units this phase. EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time a model in your unit makes a Consolidation move, it can move up to 6" instead of up to 3", provided your unit ends that Consolidation move in Unit Coherency and within Engagement Range of one or more enemy units. In addition, if the target unit destroyed the Oath of Moment target as part of being eligible for this stratagem, each enemy unit within 6" of your unit when it ends that Consolidation move must take a Battle-shock test. Saga of the Wolfkin (1 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM Once their blades and claws run red with the enemy’s blood, nothing will hold the savage sons of Russ back from new prey. WHEN: Your Movement phase, just after an ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit from your army makes a Fall Back or Advance move. TARGET: That ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit. EFFECT: Until the end of the turn, your unit is eligible to shoot even though it Fell Back or Advanced this phase. Your unit is also eligible to declare a charge against the Oath of Moment target. Saga of the Warrior Born (1 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM The greatest champions amongst the sons of Russ must take the fight to the enemy, leading by example to uphold the honour of their Chapter. WHEN: Your Charge phase, just after an eligible ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit from your army is chosen to charge. TARGET: That ADEPTUS ASTARTES unit. EFFECT: Add two to the unit's Charge roll. If the unit is charging the Oath of Moment target, then their equipped melee weapons gain the Sustained Hits 1 ability until your next Command Phase. Saga of Majesty (1 CP) CHAMPIONS OF RUSS – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM Lorem ipsum WHEN: Fight phase TARGET: One ADEPTUS ASTARTES CHARACTER unit from your army that has not been selected to fight this phase. EFFECT: CHARACTER models in the unit gain the Fight First ability and their equipped melee weapons gain the Precision ability until the end of the phase. If attacking an enemy unit within range of an objective marker, you can also re-roll Wound rolls of 1. Enhancements As per the official detachment rules.

Hello fellow Space Wolf enthusiasts, For myself and a lot of others the idea for making all the wolf lords represented on the Grand Annulus has been around as long as the grand Annulus. It was a fantasy. A lot of those Wolf Lords only had a couple of sentences dedicated to them. That didn’t stop me wondering what they might look like, what equipment they might have, how their Great Company would fight on the battle field etc. The release of ‘Curse of the Wulfen’ bridged the gap between the far off dream and something achievable. Not only were there two great interpretations of previously unseen (officially) Wolf Lords but there were rules to play as four of the great companies. There was a lot more info in there about the Wolf Lords and Great Companies. Long story short. I’ve been making those Wolf Lords. I’ve seen a few people attempt this. I’d love to know if anyone else has made them all. I’d love to see your guys versions of these Wolf Lords. I’ve made all twelve and have been painting them. I’ve painted ten so far. Would love to know if you think I’ve made them how you imagined or I’m way off or whatever. The new codex is coming. There may be a new Grand Annulus in there. I’ve seen Bulveye (Wolf Lord 13 - I haven’t made him - yet) talk on bolter and chainsword. Is he coming back do we think, is this based on rumours? If there is a new Grand Annulus coming I want to show you my wolf lords before they’re all out of date. Spoiler alert, I know a couple are dead already. Essentially I want to show you my Wolf Lords. I want to see your Wolf Lords. I want to know what’s happening going forwards. I’m very interested in the Wolf Lords and the Great Companies.

I’ve found 2 Primaris bodies in my bitz box and I want to build them into characters for the Space Wolves. I’d like one of them to be a Primaris Wolf Lord or a Battle Leader. Please could someone let me know what the options are for them?
