Tutorial Request:

Type: Modelling

Race: Spehss Mareens/Eldar/Imperial Guard etc. etc. (things with hands!)

Details: I am looking to sculpt some hands out of/with Greenstuff. Specifically, open hands. I have found a tutorial for sculpting fists on the intratubes, and I have tried my luck at sculpting open hands with dismal results. Does anyone know of, or can provide me with a tutorial? I would be eternally grateful.

Tutorial Request:

Type: Modeling / Converting

Race: Space Marines

Details: Converting Bikes

I love the idea of Marine bikes, I love the stats.....but I friggin' hate the incredibly static model, and I'm having a hard time trying to make each of mine unique. Any and all Tutorials would be greatly appriciated; Thank you in advance.

Let me get back to you on that one.

Any luck yet, brother?

For all your biker needs:

And jet bikes:

Meh. My fault, guess I should've been more specific. I'm looking more for modifications for the bikers, not the bikes. I don't think jetbikes will fit my resource poor Marines Malevolent, and I'm not a fan of the extended wheels. Any other thoughts, brother?

I dunno if I'm allowed to give advice here or if that's only Nihm's thing, but I don't think you can find any tutorials on how to make your bikers look cooler, and even if you do find one, that would only make one biker. I would recommend looking at pictures of cavalry and the positions theyre in, then use normal legs like you get from the Tac Squad boxes and do some serious leg choppin'. And if that still isn't good enough for you, I really want to give it a try at some point, so if I do, I'll make a tut :cuss

For something this small you are probably better off finding a small open hand (preferably in plastic), say from WHFB and then cast it. Alternatively you could try your hand at using a greenstuff press mould link, though I don't think that technique is the most efficient one.

I am sorry if that is how it looks, this section is for everyone. Few use it though and i visit frequently, that is all. :cuss

This, if it was me I would have a look at various 40K conversion blogs and on coolminiornot for tips, tricks and inspiration.

Oh no no I'm sorry if that came out wrong! It's awesome that you're dedicated to helping people out :) There's just always these rules all over this website so I was worried I was breaking some lol but yeah I'd rather find a way to sculpt them myself so that I can do them in a variety of poses. I'll have a looksy around the intratubez again

Tutorial Request: librarian blue robes

Type: Painting

Race: Dark Angels

Details: I have a terminator librarian that I'm painting up in Deathwing colors. To show he's a librarian I'm planning to paint his front tabard, hood, and right shoulder blue and would like an explanation of the colors involved (and how to do it, but I can find that on my own). Also should I use the same blend technique and colors for both robes and armor parts or are there two different blends?

Also just to note in the deathwing painting tutorial section the tutorial by Tyra_Nid is down. After much arduous searching I've found that it been moved to the following:

http://www.games-workshop.com/doc/49086435/Deathwi...inator-Painting

It doesn't have his name on it anymore but its the same tutorial I used to paint my deathwing originally and I remember that was the one I used.

As for technique, this should help you out:

Just substitute the colours with blue equivalents and you're set.

Tutorial Request: assistance with DiY Chapter scheme

Type: Painting

Race: DiY Dark Angels Successors

Details: I am surrently in the process of stripping the paint from my earlier squads and repainting them as I work on completing a Battle Company. However, two issues have arisen from this.

1) I want to add highlights to the black sections of the armour, however I am afraid they may look odd on a model that has large areas of silver.

2) My simple scheme of black and silver no lonnger feels like it is enough. While not changing the over-all scheme, what other colour could I add to really make the model pop. I have been thinking painting the robes on my Veterans deep purple but am unsure what to do to my rank-and-file units.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Painter images of my DiY Chapter are in the link in my sig (see Angels of Shadow)

A few questions,

1. Why are you afraid of black highlights looking odd? do you not highlight or shade the silver?

2. The images in your IA article show them with red robes, why not stick with that? I think it compliments silver and black better than purple. Personally I have always preferred a uniform look on Loyalist marines, with few embellishments of rank visible. ^_^

Well I am not entirely sure how to highlight silver. It is a non-GW brand and comes out quite bright. Do you have any tutorials in mind that may assist me? I'll start looking for some myself.

If you dont mind trying something new, give Tamya Clearsmoke a shot, or, maybe Quickshade.

You can see examples of Quickshade use on silver: here

You can always PM Cadaveri for more info on where to purchase, how to use it etc.

I hope it helps you.

Thanks for the help. I have a bottle of tamiya smoke but it is quite thick. Do you suggest I water it down first? I will have a look at the link tomorrow as my pc just froze ( am on my iPod right now). Thanks once again

you could be right as a grey highlight on black could be lost or look odd when placed next to the silver.

i'd suggest that the trick is to highlight them with a blue tinge rather than straight grey. i tend to do this with my blacks anyway as i find the straight addition of a pure grey or even white, ends up looking flat or chalky.

i add either a bit of enchanted or ultramarine blue into the chaos black first, to get an almost very very dark blue before adding a highlighting colour - either white, codex grey or SW grey depending on the final colour desired.

I've never used smoke myself (always had it recommended to me though) but from what I've been told, you should either use water or acrylic thinner.

Also, use a new or clean brush as Tamiya Smoke will bring out old and dried paint particles caught in the bristles.

As always I'd test it out on a test model/area first, just to be sure that it is the effect you want on your tabletop models.

Hi, i am just painting some nemesis force weapons. I am pleased with the effect but i was considering painting a source lighting effect on the models themselves as though they are bathed in the weapon's glow

cheers

(only the weapon is painted, not the model

I take it you are asking for help on how to do red-hued OSL?

umm, yes certainly at first but it'd be great to have the skill in general. I should mention that i base my miniatures on lava bases.

Thanks

Tutorial Request: Dirt and splash up

Type: Painting or Modelling

Race: Space Marine

Details: I was looking for a tutorial of assault marines with mud and battle damage. What I have seen so far on assault marines looks to be the same amount of a tac marine and not equal to a marine who jumped out of a Thunder hawk flying above.

There are many ways to go about weathering marines and adding battle damage, here is a few ideas:

You can also add stuff like jump pack burns, etc.
