Glory and Hate! A Marines Malevolent Project

Also, I attempted to follow the small_dog tutorial on building a hinged top door....and failed miserably. It opens and closes, but the doors just won't lay down, no matter what I try. I'll probably never try that one again, but hey, I had to give it a shot once at least.

On the subject of the top hatches not laying down, I'm interested in having a go at this myself, and was wondering about what problems you were having. Is it the hinges themselves? Or is it how the pieces are fitting?

The pieces fit great, it was the hinges. My fault here was using steel wire (stripped from the guitar wire I had on hand) instead of the suggested copper wire (which I didn't have the cash for at the time). The steel is really hard to work with, bends like concrete, and has a habit of wanting to bend back to it's original shape. I might give it another shot if I can aquire the copper wire, but not for a while...that was the first time I ever wanted to gently place a mini on the ground and proceed to stomp the @*&$ out of it. Like I said, lesson learned. Hopefully I helped you guys and gals from making the same mistakes I did.

Hey man, just red the entire thread (first half last night and the rest this morning) and I love what you've done to your marines. Wasnt too sure in the begining (too much damage, I thought) but I've changed my mind.

It inspires me to do some damaged marines myself, as soon as I finish my "main" army (wow, that's a new one... ;) ). Love the claw on the dread, too.

Very inspiring, please keep it up ! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry about taking so long, guys, but I really got burnt out with those hinged rhino doors, so I took a break for a while. I didn't want to do sub-par mini's, and I could tell it was starting to affect my technique, so I took a breather. But, I'm back on track again, so here we are...the final rhino.... I named her 'Fortuna Tenax', (very) loosely translated as 'Tough Luck'. I thought it fit the old girl...

And now it's official, my LPC vow is complete!!!

Well, now on to finishing the scouts. Thanks for all your input and comments, guys and gals!

@Noctis: The low kill count is more to do with the gunner being forced to repair the scratchings after every battle by the Crusade's Techmarines as punishment for harming the machine spirit (along with a good flogging, I'm sure). Y'know, techmarines? The guys that fix armour and vehicles? What, don't your Night Lords have a sustainible support chain and specialists to care for your equipment? Oh...right. nevermind... :P ^_^

Great work heathens. Congraduation to finishing your vow. So what's next for the 4th crusade?

I saw the fluff on the Sons of Malice. Very intresting? Were the Sons of Malice confronted by a Malevolent crusade or by several crusades? It was kind of vague on details.

Very nice man .. That Rhino looks like it's gone through Hell. :pinch: Always a good idea to take a break when you are getting annoyed. I usually flop all over the place with my armies to keep sane.

@Everyone: Scouts are next! Along with their corresponding fluff.

@Varen: The fluff idea was pretty vague in the first place, lol. Considering that the Sons of Malice were the closest of brothers, I imagine any Marines Malevolent Crusade that could hear the Lord Commanders' call and could make it time would have gone to the gathering (which I will call "The Poisoning" from here on out, to make it sound more historic and defining, lol). The 1st Crusade was definetly there, and the 4th was close enough to respond as well. My Crusade (the 4th) was crippled during the melee, and is still recuperating. The 4th Crusade Strike Cruiser "Homicida Fidei" still bears the scars, and the Hero-Captain of my Crusade will bear a trophy rack with his closest Honour-Brothers' helm mounted on it, a votive black seal hanging from its shattered remains. Just as a reminder...

@Goose: Thanks brother! And get your butt to work on your vow!!! :RTBBB:

@zxyogi: Thanks, brother! Glad you like!

@magicman: You mean like :P, or like :cuss ? Thanks brother / You're a jerk! ;) Just kidding bro, I know what you meant, thank you!

@Vulkan: Thanks, man!

@Sin: Thanks, bro! Yeah, I actually felt like I was about to hurl that Rhino at a wall...definetly a sign to take a break, lol.

@Mr. M: Thanks man!

Been busy at work this week, and had some late nights, but I've been chipping away at some ideas and poses for my scouts. Mind you, these guys still need some touch-ups and greenstuff work to fill in gaps, but the basic idea is here. The Scout-Sergeant with the Power Fist is gonna get some greenstuff hair (and eyebrows!!) to make him look like R. Lee Ermey, back in his 'Full Metal Jacket' glory days. Any thoughts or ideas, guys?

Great work 1000heathens sorry not been in touch so long but well done on completing your LPC.

Loving the Rhino looks so good and still can't believe how amazing that Dread is!!

Just a quick request can we have a pic of the whole army as it stands?

As for the scouts looking really good love the poses ;) Where are the heads from?

Keep up the good work mate.

I think thats the best idea ever, and about the only Scout with a powerfist ive seen that doesn't look goofy.

Never ceases to inspire.

Thanks guys!

@DG Trooper: Thanks brother! I had to do something different with the scouts, the standard poses looked so dang boring.

@Mikhail: Will do, as soon as the greenstuff dries some.

@Olisredan: Yep, Cadian Command Squad power fist. The size seemed far more appropriate for the scouts

@ Bolt & zxyogi: The heads are from the Catachan Command Squad, with the goofy headbands and mohawks shaved off. Thanks for the comments, guys!

@Magicman: Thanks, man!

I'll try to get a group shot for y'all today. Talk to ya then.
