Well I'm up to around 1500 points already :)

So the plan is to get a Tactical Squad just for a bit more ranged firepower and objective holding as well as a Death Company box to round out the squad and for all the extra bits.

Then maybe a Storm Raven somewhere down the line to bring it up to 2000 points :)

After that who knows?

And believe me, if I had an airbrush I would be using that as I could probably knock out a chapters worth of vehicles inside a week :)

But I don't find it too bad doing tanks by hand, I can usually get all the main colours done in couple of days only spending a couple of hours a night :)

You'll be surprised how taxing airbrushing is and is love to see that raz old chap. In the new year me and jay will have I come up and catch up with you.

Red washing is done :) as well as the base metals and clean up and highlight on the Black.

All thats left to do is the washing the Black to smooth out the highlights, iconography and the weathering and then both tanks will be done.

Though I did manage to get distracted slightly by doing the metals on a 12 strong unit of Dwarf Warriors ;)

Should hopefully finish the tanks off by tomorrow night/Sunday and will have pics up soon after ;)

Another quick update before I put pics up.

I've finished the Rhinoback (Rhino with removable HB's ;) ), though I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the wear and tear :P

I suppose since it'll primarily see use in ferrying my Honour Guard and Seth around it is a suitable amount but...

The other one is at the pre-iconography stage, which is immediately followed with weathering and so shouldn't take long.

I'll have it finished tomorrow and should have the pics up tomorrow night ;)

Pic update time!

First up is the Rhinoback, with HB's attached -

Next up is the Assault Squads Rhino -

I'll try to get some pics in better light, as a lot of the detail is being lost here :)

Also added wear & tear to the rest of the army other than Seth, partly because I don't want to ruin his paintjob ;)

I'll get a host of pics under good light during the week hopefully.

C&C welcome as always ;)

Well not much to report.

I've done some more work on the White Stars (ebay rescue Predator) but have to admit that I have been distracted by my little household of Dwarves, which is odd because I don't really have any interest in building a fantasy army. It has been refreshing to paint something other than PA for a bit though

Work on the White Stars will continue very soon!

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I ended finishing all the Dwarves and have found that I have pretty much lost my painting mojo :( Some employment issues haven't helped my mood so for the moment I just can't bring myself to paint.

I am trying to get at least something done however by returning to the Daemon Prince model I started sculpting up a year and a half ago, remodelling the legs as they were WAAAY too big.

Hopefully I'll get my paint back on after Chrimbo as I should be getting the DV box amongst other things ;) but until then I probably won't be updating.

Although I've said that before then gone on a painting binge, so you never know ;)

Ta ta for now...

Well after my slightly downcast post of a couple of days ago I have for some reason started painting another Tactical Squad for my White Stars

I was just looking at them and then remembered I needed to try my wet palette and the rest is history

Got the White done and the base for the Black and metals down next it's the spot colour and then detailing. pics up....whenever I finish them I suppose ;)

Well here we are again with a pic update, a HEAVY pic update

First up is the Flesh Tearers after their weathering (I don't hate it, but I'm not sure if I like it either :P )

More to follow in the next post...

..Continued from last post.

I've also done some Objective Markers. Representing items lost by some "unfortunate" Ultramarines of the 3rd Co.

Now here we are with the first White Star I've painted in a few months.

gallery_39897_5762_67042.jpg

And an update on the old e-bay rescue Pred.

gallery_39897_5762_1330889.jpg

That's the lot for the mo. I will return once I've some more White Stars painted, or after Chrimbo whichever comes first :P

Picked up another pot of Ceramite White today, which should be enough for the rest of the Army.

The 5th Tac Squad are nearing completion and I should have pics up within a week, after that I'm gonna try and finish the Pred and Razorback before I get distracted by DV goodness.

Toodles.

Update time again :)

Here are some pics of Tac Squad 5, which are as usual done up to the penultimate stage. Still need to figure out how I'm gonna approach all the iconography as I don't really want to do that much freehand :tu:

Also a preview of the Dev Squad 2 who are next on the block, need to do some repairs to a couple of the squad members but should get these done by the weekend all being well :)

C&C welcome as always.

Well heres another pic update, though after noting that the last 12 posts have been by me I am starting to wonder if I should bother

Don't know when the next update will be as I've contracted a nasty cold.

If not before Chrimbo then after with the arrival of some goodies from the DV box :)

C & C if you care to.

Path to redemption has begun for me and here's what I'm putting up as my first vow.

Already got all the metals done and the first coat of Green on one of the Tacticals as well as what I've already done on the Sgt., so let's hope I can keep up this pace :P

I'm glad you like it but it's actually really simple :) and lot easier than it looks.

Base Khemri Brown, layer highlight of Tallarn Flesh, layer highlight of Dheneb Stone on the high points and then the magic trick of two coats Army Painter Soft Tone (bottled version). After that it's just a careful application of Baal Red to the bottom lip and Drakenhof Nightshade to the eyesockets.

That's the whole recipe, which I came up with after trying and failing the eavy metal method :D

Are those paints in the new range? I must admit that the main reason my Marines have helmets is because I suck big style at painting skin. Also, what is soft tone and where would I get it from (preferably a shop than online) Looking good in any case ^_^

Replacement paints from the new range would be Baneblade Brown (Khemri Brown), Cadian Fleshtone (Tallarn Flesh) & Rakarth Flesh (Dheneb Stone).

As for Soft Tone, I got mine from an indy store in Birmingham City Centre called Waylands Forge.

Antics Linky have a store in Coventry and stock Army Painter stuff, but I don't know if they do the bottled paints.

Other than that the only other place I know definitely stock it a Wayland Games - The online shop.

Alternatively you may be able to use Seraphim Sepia in place of Soft Tone, but I'm not sure if it has a similar consistency. I'd advise experimentation though ;)

Hope that answers your questions.

Nice one, thank you. It might be an excuse a good reason to get over to Brum again. Mind you the last time I went over, I bought a Storm Chicken ^_^ Talon, so I'll have to exercise more willpower ;) Antics in Coventry isn't the best shop I've been to, so again Brum might be the better option. However, I have Seraphim Sepia, so I'll try that. Looking at your recipe, it's kinda how I did my DA successor test mini armour (Deathwing style colours), just with different paints.

When I get some time to do any painting, I'll have a go ^_^
