This is - by far - the best AL marine I've ever seen. The use of metallic colors blends green and blue far better than any matt scheme.

Awe.some.

Thanks bro! Really looking forward to seeing your XX Legionnaire :smile.:

Best Alpha Legionnaire I've ever seen. Simply perfect

Such high praise! Thanks, indeed :smile.:

Couldn't be a more perfect rendition of the XX.

Thanks dude! :smile.:

What all the others said + 1.

Glad you like him bro :smile.:

Edit:

KotR: This is one of the best Alpha Legionnaires I've ever seen. Maybe even the actual best.

I'd advise against the freehand details if the risk to screw it up and ruin the model is too big.

Thanks dude! Means a lot. As you can see I decided to go with the freehand. Overall I'm pretty happy with it except for the Delta on the torso which is a bit shoddy. Hope it doesn't ruin the visual for you :)

Thanks for the great feedback guys. It really does help to motivate and keep me focussed.

The Legionnaire is now finished! I just need to come up with a fluff 'blurb' and I'll post him on the March of the Legions thread.

I decided to add some freehand detail because I felt that the mini looked a little plain without it. I've stuck to the iconography shown in the FW such as chains and the Delta symbol. I didn't have the guts to try a Hydra though...

The pictures don't really capture the colour of the armour very well. In reality the armour is a richer and deeper shade of aquamarine/azur and the blemishes etc. aren't nearly as visible.

Thanks for looking

Lovely pose and colour on the Alpha, the white markings really work as well.

Thanks bro, I'm fairly happy with how the white turned out. Looking forward to seeing your Alpha :)

nice work, love the chains =)

Thanks! Well done with your Librarian, really top work.

Aaaand you just made the perfect alpha legionary.

Means a lot bro, thanks :)

Kinda want to do 30k Alpha Legion now. DAMN YOU KIZZDOUGS AND YOUR AWESOME MODELS!!!!!!

I would love to see you do some Alphas!! Check out the March of the Legions thread in the HH forum, if you haven't already. It might inspire you :)

That's absolutely brilliant. Regret not joining march of the legions, might have to somehow get a sneaky alpha into my DG Killteam after seeing that!

Thanks bro! I'm pretty sure you can enter the March at any time. I'd love to see you put your skills to work on a Alpha :)

Oh wow. That blue is just incredible. And the green on the shoulderpads as well.

Thanks mate! Glad you like him :)

very impressive work with the AL

Thanks dude!

I've just posted my entry to the March of the Legions thread. Looking forward next month's challenge already. Time to start collecting some bits for the XIXth Legion :)

Wow, I'm a HUGE fan of the Alpha/Omega left shoulderpad you did there, it looks so much better than the default FW pads it isn't even funny. (Any chance you might have a few more just laying around anywhere?) If you were going to do more Alphas I'd suggest looking into Badger's Ghost Tints. I had similar problems with Tamiya paints but the Ghost Tints went on a treat without mixing of any kind. Anyway, absolutely excellent work.

Thanks for the tip regarding the Badger tints! :smile.: Unfortunately the Alpha/Omega shoulder pad was a one off green stuff job, so no more lying around.

Dead impressed, mate. That Alpha Legionnaire is a thing of beauty. I have one question though: where are his brothers-in-arms?

Thanks dude! I'd love to do some more Alphas at some stage but I've got so many other projects on the go (and I'm not really looking forward to trying to reproduce the Alpha/Omega shoulder pad).

Edit: just to add another project, I've started planning my entry for the December March of the Legions. I'll probably end up using Korvydae's body to make either a Moritat or assault captain.

  • 1 month later...

So I haven't posted any work in this thread for a while now and I totally failed the march of the XIX Legion...

The primary cause of this inactivity has been my renewed interest in my Warhammer Fantasy project (Warriors and now Daemons thanks to the new Legion of Chaos list). I've made some really good progress with my WHFB project but I'd like to get back to some B&C appropriate material. Hopefully I'll be able to participate in and complete this month's March of the Legions, although I'll admit that I'm not particularly enthused by the XVIII Legion.

Anyway, I thought that I'd post some pics of the FW Herald that I'm working on at the moment. I'll be using him as the crew for a converted Skull Cannon that I've already built and painted. Unfortunately the Cannon is on a square edged base, so I wont be able to post any pics, even though the mini is designed for both systems...

Thanks for looking ;)

Ps. If anybody has any ideas for the direction I should take with my XVIII Legion warrior I'd love to hear them. I'm needing some inspiration...

Really incredible stuff!

Sorry if one has been posted but would love a little tutorial on how to do metallic armour but in black? I always feel that black marines while awesome look a little flat without some potentially disastrous highlighting
