Today in the hobby I....

TITH, I started a proof-of-concept for Skitarii Rangers: combining bits left over from my Vanguard squads with Victoria Miniatures Tannenburg bits (male and female Dress Uniform Torsos and Greatcoat Legs. Big issue is having to trim the collars and drill out the necks so the thick-necked Skitarii heads will fit.

Curious to see how that's working. Any photos?

Well, a big snag resulted in a slight change to the plan: the female torsos are too narrow to take the paired Ranger arms without green stuff work beyond my skill level. They can, however, if you don't mind a slight gorilla-isa-ness*, take Secutarii Hoplite arms. I'll be throwing up the rest of the squads here as they go.

*As soon as I said it, memory of music from my it's-not-a-misspent-youth-if-it-was-worth-it youth kicked in. Second time Dead Milkmen have been triggered this week...

Hi

Built another drop pod...2/7 done! Just kill me now...

They're a bit dull, aren't they?

It helps that I just glue them shut, but they're just such tedious models. I enjoy painting them but building they are almost as bad as the old school tyranid gargoyles 0.0

Today I spent most of my day off freehanding the Eye of Horus on paper. Next step is to try it on some old shoulder pads.

While preventing the snow from blocking my front door I also had time to curse the weapon options for a Terminator Praetor and realize that I'll never be able to use the words "Astra" and "Militarum" in the same sentence.

TITH I went into my local GW and built a Drop Pod I've had under my stairs for about five years and also bought a Skyhammer Tactical Squad - and built the Pod from that too.

...I want to slap the person who designed that kit, I never built that pod because of how much of an ordeal my first pod build years back was, they're every bit as annoying to put together as I remembered.

TITH purchased and assembled some Mechanicus Electro Priest Corpuscarii.

Most people don't bother with them, but the idea of giving them ago is getting more appealing, especially when you unleash the electric canticle.

5 assembled, 5 more to go, very fiddly models and surprisingly lanky, taller than a mk3 marine, but they look good

...i was gifted the Imperial Triumvirate and Gathering Storm (+ Cards).

I went to the GW, to grab something he ordered for him.

Storemanager gave me the Landing Pad he ordered and then one of those big gift boxes, saying this was for me.

I unpacked it just now, when I was home.

I'm... close to tears.

It's not like I reeeeaaaally really wanted this or somesuch. He just gifted me this to cheer me up a bit.

Wow...

Greetings

Finally completed Celestine and her escorts today, just in time for that Kill-Team game next Tuesday...

Oh well, I'm sure I'll be able to field her on Thursday instead.

Then started doing more on my Red Wolves Prometheus, and found that I'd stuck the roof section on without fitting the headlights first. After some annoyance, and finishing painting the lights, I managed to tease them into position.

Leaving it for a while, went back to the Black Knight that I'd stopped working on some time ago. It actually looks vaguely okay, so I'll spend some time on it tomorrow and probably next weekend.

TITHI updated all my army lists in excel (or Open Spreadsheet because free).

I have 1 1850 CAD and 1 1850 Decurion for each army that allows it.

- Angels of Shadow (Dark Angels)

- Brotherhood of Eternity (Chaos Marines)

- 8th Brotherhood (Grey Knights)

- 501st Invalacian Legion (Astra Militarum)

- Kabal of the Twin Blades (Dark Eldar)

after lunch I shall clean up the tables to allow for gaming (in the hopes I can corrupt a housemate or two)

Today in the hobby I painted my very first Space Marine model since 3rd edd after collecting and playing Orks exclusively since 3rd came out.
Although just a quick test model for my future Raptors army, it was a great joy to paint and can't wait to get started on the army properly...just need one little order from forgeworld and get some 32mm bases and I'm all set to get started in earnest.

Can't wait!

YITH got some FREE windsor newton brushes from an acrylic artist that was clearing out her supplies.  Also got some free liquitex black and white acrylic paint she was giving away.

Bought a copy of Betrayal of Calth - no minis -  just tiles, dice, rules and cards for $13!   Plan on using it for some special projects.

Slowly getting back my hobby time a few hours per weekend!

TITH I got about 2 hours closer to finishing my Loth model - the basement is so cold still so my time with paints is limited.  I also settled in my head that I do not like the current Thunderfire Cannon.  So, I started looking for alternatives - something less bulky yet still "cannon"-y.
