Brother Casman
Today in the hobby, I decided to get off the Space Marine treadmill. Having them in my project backlog was causing too much stress, so I'm selling off my Primaris Marines. To be fair, I haven't really done anything with any of the boxes I bought, so they might as well go to someone who will use them. I'll finish my few firstborn units, and that will be that. The Praetorian of Inwit
I did two things. I applied a base coat by hand to my five captains, two chaplains, two librarians and four lieutenants (all Firstborn) and 15 Centurions. The second was to end a twenty year friendship that had got increasingly one sided, abusive and toxic, especially over the past couple of years. If he wants to be a real life Perturabo then he can screw off. NiceGuyAdi
I'm not sure which of those sounds harder. In all seriousness though, shame as it is to end a relationship, life's too short for 'friendships' that aren't actual friendships. The Praetorian of Inwit
Quite right NiceGuyAdi. Heck I get more conversation, support and encouragement out of a ten minute convo with the guy who runs my local GW than I did this 'friend'. It hurts of course, twenty years is a long time to stick by someone. I'd say the base coat was harder though! The Praetorian of Inwit
So today in the hobby I painted for the first time in TWENTY YEARS! It isn't pretty or detailed but it is serviceable and given certain limitations imposed by my health I am pretty pleased. I'm hoping I'll also get better with more practice. After all it's only three down - there are 270+ models still to go. The Praetorian of Inwit
@Sergeant Centurion Thank you! I painted more Centurions today, just the basing to go. I've really enjoyed it. It is probably the first time I've actually had fun doing it. They don't look good - far from it, but they are actually painted at least. It is a step forward and that's a good thing. Sergeant Centurion
My today in the hobby: half of a Sternguard Squad. There things to improve and mold lines to erase, but at least i build them. The Praetorian of Inwit
Some well assembled Sternguard there. Mold lines can be frustrating, though I find it oddly therapeutic to sit for an hour and just remove some. Are they the Firstborn Sterngurd? Today I did more painting, four kitbashed Firstborn Lieutenants. I also based them and the 15 Centurions. The first time I've actually based my miniatures and I loved it and the end result has lifted my miniatures up a bit too. Honestly with this Firstborn project it has been like rediscovering the entire hobby and falling in love with it all over again. Its strange to my find one person that like work on mold lines and find it relaxing like its in my case, so it good to know im not alone! 15 Centurions? Maybe i need some more XD: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/428/#findComment-6019170 Share on other sites

The Praetorian of Inwit
@Sergeant Centurion I bet those Sternguard will look great painted. And it is always cool to see Firstborn being worked on. Originally I was just going to have two units of Centurions. Then again originally my Firstborn Imperial Fists were only going to be 80-90 models not the nearly 300 models I have now haha. I painted and based two Captains, two Librarians and two Chaplins today, all Firstborn naturally. Sergeant Centurion
Thanks The Praetorian of Inwit ! I hope to see your centurions one day, they are one of my favorite units. The Praetorian of Inwit
I'll try to upload some pics tomorrow! I assembled a bookcase today to house some of my Firstborn. I also read The End and the Death Volume III. I liked it a lot. I felt Abnett delivered a fitting and worthy conclusion. I actually got a bit emotional at the end of it. Sky Potato
Today in the hobby, I discovered that it’s very difficult to paint some of the leg trim on Legions Imperialis Cataphrachtii Terminators in gold after drinking 5 pints of IPA… So I’ve been applying decals instead Can’t wait to see how wonky they come out when tomorrow rolls around. FashaTheDog
Today in the hobby I loaded my 5' wide and 10' high bookcase with stuff. Sitting about 18" away I now have an imposing wall of things to assemble and paint. The army cases and shelves behind me on another wall mounted bookcase behind me do not provide the same level of accomplishment as the wall of get to work does demanding. Sitting at the computer staring up at a literal wall of 30K, Fantasy, 30K, Titanicus, Battletech, board games with pieces to paint like Mars Attacks, AVP, Dark Crystal, and Hero Quest, Epic Space Marine and Titan Legions, Flames of War, and terrain for all different games. I do have my block of Bloodthirsters on a shelf I can easily see so there is a little oasis of done, even if they are too small for 40K now. lhg033
Last night in the hobby I finished off the base colours of the first 10 termagants from the Leviathan box plus a quick drybrush over the armour plates. I need to see them in daylight to decide if I will do more on them or there are any oibvious touch ups needed. I'm not planning on going to far on them in terms of highlights and detail (vs when I get onto the big bugs). The Praetorian of Inwit
Here be the Centurions. The painting is quite rough but considering they were the first models I've painted in twenty years and I have health limitations on what I can do I'm quite pleased with the outcome. lhg033, Brother Casman, Warden-Paints and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/428/#findComment-6020018 Share on other sites

Roryokane, yes this kit its awesome, so many good bits and potential for conversion, its so sad its no longer on store. Mr. Oddity
Today I sat down for a couple of hours and completely catalogued my collection of kits. Now I have perfect knowledge of all my minis, most of my conversion bits, and the stuff I won't need and can sell or trade. It also let me update my army lists for my four planned factions (IF successors, Templars, T'au, and Necrons) to make the best use of what I have and minimize purchases. Feels good to have everything actually planned and accounted for! Now I just have to start making more hobby progress. roryokane 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/428/#findComment-6020478 Share on other sites
The Praetorian of Inwit
Finally got my first unit of Assault Terminators done.
