Dear Thamier,

Apologies for not writing sooner, I have only just stumbled across this thread.

Firstly, Wow. There is so much in this thread that makes me go: ' Damn, why didn't I think of that'!

Second, I'm really impressed with the limited colour palette - i would be too tempted to add in more colours - the fact you have remained strict really pays off in the group shots.

Third, I'm very envious of your sculpting skills - this is something i want to get into more, and i've had limited success with my Sorceror Lord but i'm looking to try something more ambitious, more akin to your defiler-knight. I see you use tinfoil as the base, what is the sculpt medium you are using over the top?   when do you switch to greenstuff?

Thanks!

Well I did used to DJ...loudly ;)

so atlest partyly noise marine, anyways if you think of more do tell me :)

hey Disease, glad you like my thread, we all find dtuff here on the forum were we ho "damn, why didn't i think of that!"

but that is one of the many great things of b&c, feel free to use the ideas you like.

was tempted to use more colours but wanted them to stick to the simple black legion but with a twist, and i try to bring the eerie feel of the warp glow to life with the green, and some times it works too ;)

will have to add a bit on my next projects thinking of grey marble on parts of noise marines and blood on khrone berserkers instead of red paint on the powerarmour.

the sculpting is just practice im not that good yet still learning alot, but good tools dose wonders and tiny tools is great !!!

feel free to ask questions or comments

thanks, is it milliput you are using ontop of the tinfoil, or another medium?

oh almost forgot about that, no its grey stuff , green stuffs stronger kussin

Is that stuff sandable when cured?

yup, but since its epoxy try not to breathe it in

Noise marines are all about excess and obsession and more more more. Since you will probably be sticking with your current color scheme, you will need to find a way to represent their over-the-top-ness with something other than colors. Sound grills are also usually a good choice.

thanks alot, more things to think over, will be tricky but most of the fun is the idea, the easy part is building and painting it after :)

Cable feeds going in and connecting to their weaponry in order to better experience their sounds. Flayed skin from their victims, mutations, not a big fan of the guitar route (more of a scifi fan). Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

thanks tanith, intought about flayrd skin too, mostly cause of forte's models, canle feeds i could do would be a little tricky, plan on doing magnitized weapons so i can swich from bolters to sonics.

i think im also leaning more twords scifi than guitar but not sure entirely yet.

Cable feeds could be done two ways. Bent wires/guitar strings or rolled out sausages of green stuff that you've let cure for a while.

Flayed skin you'll find easy after doing Chaos trim.

As for speaker grills, I'm thinking of trying to roll out some GS fairly flatt then rolling a screw across it before letting it cure a bit so I can cut it to shape to go where I want it.

Your scheme tends to be very serious, I feel that guitars would cheapen it.

aw thanks, i looked at the codex art and i think ill try to duplicate those weapons

cables i can do still have alot of bass strings and sculpted ones i can use and rather keen ontrying sculpting some flayed skin,

also think ill try sculpting grills but rolling a screw over gs sounds like a great idea too thanks forte.

been thinking alot of how to do them currently im diseckting legs and gonna use them as a bse to sculpt on then make some multiposable veriations like i did with my oblits, so lots of cutting filing and sanding and testing and planing.

thinking that ill try and customize some standard helmets and painting wise gonthe standard colourscheme.

adding flayed skin and maybe some grey marble shouldrrpad with a glowing green emperors children icon painted on.

then for weapons ill add magnets sonthey can have bolters or sonics were ill need to build and replicate my owen sonic guns and blastmasters

lets see i use my old citadel colours and the trick is to thin the paint down ALOT but when applying it use a paper towl to soak up most of it so you can keep it under control then i add layer after layer it takes a while to dry just gotta be pacient or use a hair dryer.

i like to do the background glow first darkest collar on a big area then gonsmaller and smaller as i nere the center and going lighter colour the further in i get. on the oblits shoulderpads i used 3 coats of dark angels green then changed to scorpion green 2 coats then used mix of white and scorpoin green for the mark and almost oure white for a few spot lights here and there inside the mark.

did that help anything or was i too confusing to make much sense?

Defiler is looking outstanding but I really really REALLY love the Helbrutes, so many awesome ideas in those models I may have to borrow. Great work

hehe feel free to borrow all you like bio, a have another one, one of the new kits waiting, but wont start on that before i get another helldrake, need the bitz for the legs.

Wow. Wow. Thamier, I just spend an hour reading through this entire thread an spent my day's worth of likes even before the finished obliterators and scratch-build defiler.

Amazing work mate, your converting skills are incredible. I especially live your trim work with plasticard. Could you tell me how you do them?

Also, your paint job is beyond par. I love how simple, yet incredibly striking it is. Your four colours -black, bone, green and metal- complement each other very nicely.

Seriously, congrats on a very nice job. You've gained a(nother) fan today.

oh wow that really made my day, thank you and very happy you like it, now some modesty dont want all that oraise to go to my head.

and as we all know there are so manny really talented people here on B&C and with the plastic card trim i have to point you to were credit is due, the guy that i got the idea and tequniqes from is called subtle discord and his awsome black legion thread is called "legion rising" go there and you learn all the details on jow to do awsome plastic card trims, you wish you have lots more likes to dish out trust me, i my rhino trims are slightyly changed design using his awsome drawings as a base.

and the chaos tracks i bought off his webshop ;)

he is a great guy, but i do love converting and there is always things to learn.

and for the paint scheme you forgot i also use grey ;)

i am currently preparing my etl wow so building zombies havocs and noise marines, but also still working on the defiler still just cant help it
