Who was it that wanted a Hydra kit?

http://descansodeles...-hde-horus.html

I was definitely one of those wanting a plastic hydra! Really glad I didn't get impatient and buy FW. I like how these look. I will have to buy some extra Kriegers to crew them though with that open top look (wonder if they'll actually be open topped rules wise -- although they're closed top in my DKoK asslt. Bde. List anyway )

They're not covered with junk; those are spare treads for the armored assets.  By attaching them to the Ogyrns they free up weight on the vehicles, provide some extra protection to the Ogryns, and give those abhumans a non-combat role as pack mules so they serve the Emperor in both combat and in a logistical role.

I like the ripper-gun Ogryns a lot. The CC ones not so much. Wonder what that weapon is...it looks like a battering ram...? It will be interesting to see their rules. They could be quite the hammer, or at least a tarpit.

Here's hoping the hydra has an option for an enclosed cabin too. Then again, and perhaps a subject for a new thread, I wonder how many of us do actually pay those extra points for enclosed cabins.

I actually really like the Bullgryns. The Fallout looking power fists are pretty neat to me. I can see these guys rolling out of a transport and punching in Tau heads and laughing with their shields at small arms fire.

I'd love for the old rupper gun rule to come back where they at half range literally couldn't miss because the ogryn got so overexcited that he just emptied the gun in the target's face...

I think nobody uses them, closed crew compartments are too expensive for what you get.

The Bullgryns look to be armed with a special CC weapon, probably some sort of shock weapon or a pneumatic thingy? Hopefully it gives them some real punch in combat, and they have a nice save with their armour and shields so they can give us a good combat option.

For those interested there will be a memorial service at 19:00 today for the Rough Riders. Khan has requested that you don't bring flowers, just the heads of your enemies.

I will be seriously upset if they make away with our rough riders q.q

They have been a central part of my Logerian guardsmen (my first imperial army) since third edition. First they gimped their lances against terminators... so they better not disappear!

As for the Ogryns I am actually a little disappointed. The shield once, especially with mustache and respirator (he is awesome), are pretty decent, but the others look... retarded to me O.o I dunno, I mean Ogryns are stupid... Very stupid... So why shave?

The Hydra is sweet too.

And the last kit... maybe it is rough riders!? XD

If we're only getting one more kit then I think it'll be artillery.

I'm guessing the rumours of a `big transport` are that truck.

I pray to the Golden Throne that our rough riders are not off to the glue factory, but...it doesn't look promising.

If I ever wanted to do an arbites army then that truck and the bullgryns might be alright.

I don't think it's big enough, the rumours talked about something Land Raider sized and given they've been accurate so far no reason not to believe it. I'll be sad if we're still waiting for the artillery pieces, especially since GW's approach now is no model, no rules... unsure.png

Just because there aren't any further kits being release right now doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't release a rough rider kit down the road. Also, not having models doesn't mean they're out of the codex. It still looks like veterans, penal legions, and griffons will be without models. It will make building rough riders more expensive, to be sure, since you need to combine kits but fortunately the kits are available to kitbash and make cool riders.

Or, worst case scenario, you can ally-in some DKoK assault brigade death riders for 2 wound, 6+ FNP, 2 attack, WS4, no Ld test for 25% casualties, dangerous terrain re-roll goodness. And for your troop choice take WS 4, non-deepstriking storm troopers at 75% of the current storm trooper price. The HQ tax will be 'spensive and not as useful, though (since their CCS can only order DKoK units as I recall).

I hope so hendrik, I've wanted Rough Riders for a long, long time. I suppose GW could get away with it if they kept the current metal models and then gift us some plastics later, a bit like what they've done with Chaos? We can only hope and pray!

I am looking forward to getting our new stuff, I have some money put aside to put an order in - one of everything please! All I have to do is resist the urge to paint them until the ETL

We've heard nothing about them, but without new models they may as well be

There's still DKoK Death Riders.

If you got the cash for it at least.

Or maybe convert some WHFB miniatures...

I priced it out a few years ago, and one of the reasons I decided on Kreig, was that it's actually cheaper to buy Forgeworld Deathriders than to kitbash WFB kits with 40K kits.

I took Scout bikes and replaced the torsos with Cadians. Fairly simple conversion, the most trying was coming up with lances. Only problem is if they come out with some awesome rough riders, I'd have to choose between bikes and ponies.

FYI, more rumours:

Heard a small rumour today from GW staffer....ogryns shields act as mobile aegis line type defence....4+ cover save, but they forgo their move in the subsequent phase. The weapons are a cross between grenade launchers and a mortar with specialist shells. Sounds very feasible from what i have seen of the model. He also said that the moustachiod ogryn is indeed neddog and has some interesting rules. On a par with the Kell rule with Creed.

Aside from the wrong model being identified as Nork (how much more obvious could Nork be!?) it sounds plausible enough and quite interesting.

It was mentioned on another forum that the scion officer out front could be a clam pack model (akin to the SM Librarian).

Looking closer I see he's wearing a black overcoat, open as is de rigeur with officers msn-wink.gif...I'm wondering if it might be a commissar/Scion officer double-build?

Is he holding a (very nice) dagger in his right hand or is that just on his belt?

This would make a lot of sense, given that the rumors have all stated that the Scion box is only a 5 man kit. Also considering that the current Lord Commissar already has a gothic style breastplate, all it would really recquire is the hat and "wham, bam, thank-you ma'am" you're summarily executing people.

Also makes me think it's likely that the Nork kit is a clam pack... just conjecture, but it would be really dumb to have to buy a whole pack of Ogryn to get him. Then again, the only new chaplain model is in the Reclusiam Command Squad...
