Bike Update: base coating is almost done, now time for the fine detailing (my favorite part!)

Oh, and I have run out of horse tails! Anyone have some? All my usual bits sources are out.

Switches, screens and guns-oh my! Plus, I changed the pattern of the lightning on the lance- I like this one better.

Just some finals highlighting and they will pretty much be done...

Those bikers look really friggin' good Geektom.  What's next for your Storm Brothers?

Thanks, all-- next up is finishing my Veteran Vanguards, and then I want to start building some vehicles: landspeeder, storm talon and a land raider

Those bikers are looking good.  I particularly like the new lightning on the power spear.  One day I might be able to pull that off.

I have never tried it before this army-- I just looked at lots of YouTube videos. They were super helpful.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all, bikes are as done as they will be for now... I know these models are key to a WS Successors army, but I have to say, it was a frustrating process from start to finish-- they are not good models (an update please, GW?) and the addition of using Failcast pieces just made it worse. I will let them sit for a few weeks and move onto something new and then come back and finish the nitpicky stuff. Plus, I need horse tails!

Comments and critiques welcome! Tell me how my next squad of bikes could be better!

I think you've done an awesome job, personally. I particularly like how the purple on the bike lines up with the purple on the rider's armour.

Though... Are the Sergeant's eye lenses the same colour as his helmet?

Don't you dare mess with that red... It's beautiful and intense and so smoothly blended. It pops just fine. As for the lenses, though... They do lack some contrast. Overall, that serg is great, though. The lightning turned out really well, and I dig the extra little details like the gold sights on the guns and the shield thing on the back of his saddle. Really great squad and another one to be proud of. They look lethal. Now get the other tails on there. ;)

Thanks, Jeff! I can't find any!!!

Maybe if I paint the lenses white, and then use a purple ink? They won't technically match the others, but the overall effect might be better.

Or pink with a purple wash?

I don't want to inadvertently cause any Slaanesh worship...

In most color schemes that feature alternate helmet colors, the lens colors change as well. I think your yellow recipe would make for a striking contrast and end up looking like an amber jewel. Do you just not dig different lens colors from your other marines?

OH! I almost forget, good job with the freehand on the shoulder pad scroll. I noticed.

you know what, I did not realize that re: lens color changes... it totally would be better for the sergeants to have yellow lenses.

Thanks, brother!

Oh no, did I just make a bunch of extra work for you? :(
