INCOMING TRANSMISSION:PRIORITY ALPHA

CLASSIFICATION: PICTURE-SPAM

MESSAGE BEGINS:

This is a lot of pictures even for one of my posts :P

My newly-promoted and as-yet-unnamed Marshal has been successfully magnetised at both the wrists and neck. Why the neck? So he can retain maximum RoC pose depending on weapon load-out, or potentially in case I want to put a helmet on him, or want to run the same fluff Marshal in different armour or something later. I've been busy magnetising alternate weapons which he can pick from (dishing out the rest to his honour/vanguard). The Dev and Van kits have such great weapons and bits!

I have some good sized Templar-alternate shields which I'll probably use in favour of the little vanguard one, but I figured it could sit-in until I chop up a shield-hand for the big one.

I'm very pleased with this guy, can't wait to paint him!

Dang that's a lot of arms to paint up! You going to be doing him in the ETL?

Is that one of the old 2nd/3rd edition axes in his off hand?

I wish I still had some of those. And the power fist. :(

His left hand looks like yes, I've got a couple SB with them they're nice looking. Might have one more bouncing around, can't remember... Have a bunch of the old fists bumming around too.

I believe it's from the old assault squad box.

Looking awesome MM! I look forward to seeing them painted

Yeah, dead easy - the wrists are barely wide enough to hold a 2mm magnet, but just made it. Not the simplest of cuts to free the hands without damaging them, but doable with a sharp knife and patience. The right shoulder pad is a standard swap, as are the head and backpack (and the right arm too, though why anyone wouldn't want to use it is beyond me!) I shaved the stylised purity seals from his shoulder pad to reattach them to his BT one. Otherwise I didn't need to change the overall pose, and the torso has a nice robe/chain thing going on so I decided to leave as-is.

That axe actually came on one of the impressive new sprues, Firepower - so you can get one if you can bring yourself to buy a box of Devastators! :P

Yeah, he'll be a Chapter Master Marshal in the ETL, so I'll pick the best weapon hands to equip him with for that. I'll probably be doing my Termie Chapter Master of Sanctity too, so lots of details but lots of points ;)

The Rolling Reclusiam MkIII:

Poor pictures again, sorry. The MkI was too tall, the MkII lacked in epic-ness. MkIII is closer to what I wanted. It's meant to have a cathedral-like vibe, with a good size 'fighting platform' for Grim and his Posse (or whoever else is riding in it). I was able to tone-down the height, build the width and make the whole thing chunkier. Lots of open arches should keep it looking mobile and not interfere too much with gameplay LoS and all that.

I'd appreciate any feedback - so far I've just been cutting and filing the panels/sponsons and dry fitting them. The entire structure is blutac for now, until I am confident in the design.

Cheers

Move the pulpit rearwards, so it won't interfere with the twin-linked assault cannon's traverse. Replace the pulpit's two front spikes with pintle-mounted weapons, so enemy fire won't interrupt the Chaplain's sermons. Gild the skulls, as on the Golden Company's banners- as the mortal remains of Black Templars who gave their lives for the Emperor, they deserve to be gold-plated.

I like it. Where are the side panels from? The only thing I would change is the arch bits on the sides are a little much for me, but all in all its a great miniature.

Crusade on brother.

they're from Scibor miniatures, a great addon and one I was planning on using in the future!

Love the way it looks after you have put it all together! Will definitely use this as inspiration for a future project.

keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback folks! Indeed, they are Scibor panels - they're fun, if a little imperfect compared to GW or FW.

The assault cannons are currently free to rotate on the horizontal axis, but you are right that they wouldn't be able to point upwards. I'll see if it is possible to shift it all backwards a little but if not then I can live with it.

Also, those lower side-arches may or may not make the final cut - it depends on whether I can find a way to make the top half removable for transport without them causing a problem.

I'm also working on a multimelta lectern complete with book - when the Chaplain speaks the words of the Emperor, they will incinerate his foes with searing flame and light!

My main concern currently is something Firepower has noted already - there's going to be a heck of a lot of work painting all this! It may take me most of the ETL, so I'll need to try and get the maximum points out of it that I can, just in case!

"In the Glory of the Emperor, I Spit Hot Fire on the Mic!"

Structural work mostly complete - had to bite the bullet and fix the shrine stuff permanently (magnetising was just too flimsy).

Was going to use some floor tiles to build a slight raised area for one figure, but space was an issue - I wanted to easily fit Grim and 3 Servitors, as well as swap them for other models with larger base sizes - so I kept the floor mostly open and flat.

Chains are not fixed yet, just getting a feel for it.

Pintle-mounted ZEAL

The back wall was looking a little sparse - a relic shield and censers should liven it up, although they won't be glued until after painting.

Well, hope you like! There are still a few gaps to greenstuff, but it's getting there. The only nod to transporting the model is the top banner and the lectern, which are simply pinned into place and detachable. Not my usual style but the best I could do in the circumstances!

Looks very promising! Very nice work!

I know I'm late for this, but if you use a metal plate instead of the plasticard for the floor, you can afford to put one hunking big magnet in the LRC and that should give you a very solid attachment, while allowing you to detach the shrine for better transport.

Edited by Arthanor

That's not a bad idea (provided I could find a metal plate the right size - I don't have the proper tools for that type of material!) As it is, I'll have to live with it now.

While thinking about chains, I remembered I still need to add them to my dread, which made me think - "He has a sword, shield, chains, knightly

helm, Templar bling everywhere... But something is missing..." Then it hit me -

TABARD!

http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a628/matzeke/4AEEC67D-39FD-4B0E-90D4-CCE3DCE48C1A_zpsipqyfs37.jpg

So now I need to fix the chains, get some magnets sunk into the shoulder-joints, and he should be about ready... Just in time for the ETL ;)

What did you use for the Tabard?

I have recently posted a venerable with an open chassis with the templar inside wearing a tabard, but I haven't made a dreadnought sized one!
