What ? Seriously?

 

How could they have changed the side bar accidentally...I'm like 99% sure they intended it to be heavy support and this is just FW email being different, but if it is still elites - that's awesome. I don't have a problem with it.

Yeah, not convinced this is as intended here. At the Weekender the FW design team mentioned that it was an intentional change. This is almost certainly just their email team having no idea what they're doing, because they don't consult the rules team when they answer these questions - they're making their own interpretations.

 

That being said, an email from FW is an email from FW, so go nuts. I suppose their poor editing means it was always dubious without an official FAQ anyway. And before anybody accuses me of being part of the 'make the Iron Warriors bitter again' movement, I'd much rather they have stayed Elites and hope the email is accurate. My area won't be using it though

Hi all, I used to have a 40k iron warriors back in the 3.5 ed days but when that book sunk so did my interest in the legion. Recently what with the amazing 30k releases I can feel the iron within me calling once more. What I would like to know though is what units are seen as being the most iconic ones for the iron warriors and what synergises really well in an army. How do they play on the battlefield and are there many options to morph that somewhat. I really like infantry, terminators and walkers so any guidance is appreciated!

That first email would be worthless even if it didn't start with a whiny leading request. "Oh I am just so hurt and angry and upset like an actual iron warrior, and if you tell me what I want to hear I'll spend all this money wink wink". Unlikely to fly in my area, especially given FW designer comments on this topic which trump email guys any day of the week.

There's the other side of it to consider, too, that this is only relevant if you intended on spamming missiles and heavy support. In which case I'm playing 6 reductor medusas every time, all the time... do you really want to turn your local meta into that? You don't, you really don't.
