I barely got my ETL vow done with my Sisters figures; I was up all night painting them. No joy on my out-of-competition Iron Warriors pledge, sad to say.

As a penance to my fellow Warsmiths, and indeed to the Legion itself, I will construct an Iron Warriors Ferrum Infernus dreadnought representing the "Old Warsmith" from this short story, who also failed the Grand Company and had to pay penance for it.

How did IV battle brother get on with the ETL?  Any models or unit you would have like to have added?  Did everything go to plan?  Also feel free pot up those vows :D

I think unit wise - I've just been remind today about a tale of x gamer type thing I'm part off that I need to get a fast attack chose sorted.  So possible been add the Raptors, but same time I've only just mange to get those armour ork loin cloth I've use though out my Iron Warriors force which can be hit or miss trying to get from bitz web-sites.

Hopeful get the new unit of Raptors converted up this weekend & ready for the gaming side of the tale of x gamer hobby challenge.

I've jump back to getting my Dark Mechanicus army on the go right now.  Unsure what to do army list wise.  I might go with the White Dwarf formastion to allow me a bit of everything.

Also just counted my Iron Warriors force (not included Dark Mechanicus or Chaos Guards) I seem to have 290 models fully built & painted.

Finished everything as planned :D

Next up is my Tech Priest and a Renegade Bombard (you can see wip pictures of both in my painting log). I plan to get them finished this month - let's see how that goes.

Maybe I should go and count my models too, but I doubt that I can reach up to 290 models without any auxiliary troops ^^"

They're soooooo amazing @_@ The banners alone would be worth it.

Just spotted there also a link to a PDF which tell you about the transfer.  Yes there really cool, I was gutted I never spotted them that the Warhammer World open day.

Also phone Forge World to place the order, they knew me right away & already knew what I was going to order today :D

I'm just happy with these transfer & just get the Siege Knight finish.  This is going be the first time using transfer as well.

The first steps of my penance to my fellow Warsmiths:

Base is a Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought. It's going to be a Ferrus Infernum Dreadnought with Thunder Hammer and Multimelta. I wanted to do the MM different, because I'm not really a fan of the boxy little side turret concept. I wanted more of a "robo" feel to it so converted a close combat arm.

The legs are going to be Sentinel legs with the leg shields and maybe other bits to bulk them out. He'll probably be big enough to pass for a Contemptor if I feel like it, too, so that's a plus.

I have a question to pose to my fellow warsmiths. Im in the starting steps right now of building up my chaos force, and im running into alittle.. inspirational road blocks as im working on the design of my basic bolter marines.  Im not fully convinced that the basic chaos marine box is the way to go with them, some aspects, like all the horns and mutations don't seem fitting on our warriors,  but the extra details of trim, i can't do without that, it gives them a good extra look over the loyalists.  Next to that, Im also considering using some of the forgeworld armor marks, but they dont seem very chaos to me. So at the moment, i find myself arguing circles around myself as to what to use.

You can check out army log* that memeber have on the forum for further idea.  There link on the very first post.

*If there any new IW army log, please post them & I'll add them to the first post.

You'll see a lot of us use Forge World kits as well.  I use the follow FW part in my own army, here a exsample of two Havoc Battle Brother I painted a few week ago, useing the MkIII & Iron Warrior upgrade

You said about trims, you could always add thin plasticard strips or try green stuffing the trim on the armour.

Finally being able to field artillery again with my Iron Warriors thanks to IA 13 breeds chaotic constructions:

Shelling the opponent without mercy... I missed that feeling :wub.:

"The Old Warsmith" now has legs:

gallery_53134_10809_196447.jpg

The arms and torso are blue-tacked on still, because I've learned my lesson and am going to paint the two halves separately.

I am still exploring the adding of bits and pieces to make the legs bulkier, and there are going to be chains and whatnot hanging like a loin clothe I think.

It should go without saying that there will be victims and/or wreckage of some sort added to the base once I'm happy with the legs.

I may also add some more heretical bits to the Thunder Hammer, too. Also I'm thinking about how to make the exhaust stacks more interesting or archaic looking with the bits I have on hand.

Any suggestions are welcome.

It still needs some more chaosification, but it's already shaping up to be a really cool looking Dreadnought!

Speaking of which, I cannot find the Iron Warriors Dreadnought on the new Forge World website (which really doesn't make much sense, considering they've kept most of the other alternative Dreadnought models for the chaos legions). Only the Iron Warriors Contemptor seems to be around... Does anyone have any information about this? I'd be really bummed out, if it really is gone for good, as I was considering an order with the reduced minimum price to avoid shipping fees until the end of September.

Best thing to email Forge World.  Just notice that there & gutted to not see the Dreadnought, he really cool & I was hoping to get another one for Call of Chaos this year.  Along with brass etch & Berzerker upgrade pack.

Just spending this week getting a unit of Raptor ready for my Iron Warriors.  Also after seen a Chaos Guard army today battle against Eldar, ended up picking a box of plastic Storm Trooper (Veteran) to try & push forward with my own army, really want to get them finish before end of this year.

About that Iron Warriors Dreadnought - not so good news for now:

Hi there Philip,

Thanks very much for your email. I appreciate your passion for our products and it's great you want to get these models. We took the opportunity with the new webstore to clean up our range on show. Several models are unable to return at the moment due to damage to their moulds and although we want them to come back it would be unfair to customers to show them product that might not be available for a significant time.

This means that we would like to bring these models back in future so please do keep an eye out for their return. In the mean time was their anything else you would like to get?

Thanks

Looking cool Perry

malisteen recent brought up a really cool blog by Profundis with a lot cool conversion for Dark mechanicus, also check out the Pit Slaves warband - it help me with how I want to theme my Close Combat unit of Cultist I want to add to my own Grand Company :D

Really cool-looking models!

I'd also love to see better pics of your Kataphroni (or however you spell them ^^") unit in the background. Are you using them for your Iron Warriors?

I would love to, but sadly they aren't even out the base coat stage yet. I bought four boxes to make six destroyers and six breachers.... Then I got into Horus Heresy gaming. So they are somewhere near the back of the queue.

If I ever came across a easy going gamer who would let me field them as allies then I'd probably paint them up faster!
