These are great, you've definitely got their midnight blue right and the lightning, both in design and application, is superb. Like the purple coils on the Sicaran's lascannons; complimentary, yet different enough to stand out. though the gradation from the darkest point to the bright, almost white, centre could be smoother.

I agree 100% that the transition and build up could be better; I had to tweak it a few times and I stopped when I got to the point where it was 'good enough'. Sadly, this isn't the army where I push my painting skills; I just want to get it done as fast as possible.

 

Great hearing constructive criticism though: let me know if anything can be improved and I'll try it out on future/test models 

 

Also game today using my night lords in 40k; I'll see if my buddy can get pictures of the army so far :)

And finally, my still WIP Contemptor with dual fists w/graviton. Because I ran out of black wash I havent been able to finish him, but I've still used him in two games; once as part of the VIIIth Legion, once as part of a Night Lords Chaos Space Marine force. So far he's killed a warhound, scout squad, laser vindicator, assault squad, scorpius and thunderfire. In two games.

Saw this and I now want to paint some night lords!

 

I love all of them especially the terminators and that contemptor.

 

Also got a small game in today using proxies, I ran terror assault. All I can say is that it was fun and awesome. Thanks brother for the inspiration!

Yea Ben and I usually play a game per week or so, when we feel extra cynical we make a bat rep

As a man who uses B&C 99% percent of time on his phone. I 100% agree with you. Though you have a bigger screen to run it I have the 5c :D.

I generally paint over any see through bits. Not only does it save me time assembling, but also painting all the interior and then hoping the window doesnt fog while gluing it on

So my promise of having pics of the dread up fell apart...sorry curseyouwitcher3. I finally got him to a point where I liked (the blood effect was frustrating and I still need to tweak it) but because its raining I had to take pictures with my super yellow desk lamp. Better ones will follow tomorrow/when there's better lighting.

I continued using the flayed skin tutorial from Augustus that I tried on the sicaran by making a nice piece for his left leg and a ragged and sloppy piece for his chest where the bundle of skulls should be; the arm pose prevented it from getting placed. The dragged SA is from Curze's base; I had assembled the arm with the wrist pointing forward before realizing people don't walk like zombies. The corpse was he only thing I could think of to make it not look ridiculous.

 

On a side note, anyone who wants to watch me lose with my Raven Guard in 30k (my recent win was not recorded ) and hear cynical comments on the state of 40k can watch the bat rep here

First power axe cataphractii is all done. I decided to change things up and make his thigh plates bronze and I really like how it turned out too. It also felt like I saved time on painting despite taking so long to actually finish the model. I think for my third squad I'll make a shoulder plate bronze instead of the thighs; keep each squad distinct.

 

The lighting was questionable, but I took some anyways. Might retake them tomorrow.

Sadly because I forgot to take a picture before I put the basecoat on I can't count him towards my ETL pledge

 

In other news I picked up 8 of the old metal raptors and am getting another 15 of the new ones for 45$ bringing my night raptor count up to 38. I don't have enough fast attack slots with my xiphon in my list

Went on a mad assembly spree to keep me from painting curze, got a total of 15 Executioners (the little referenced name of individual Terror Marine) done and 5 Terminators.

 

8 of the the executioners I gave close combat weapons to better mix in the end (they have the volkites slung on the back), using the raptor weapons (though this did result in some lackluster pose, but oh well).

 

Still haven't put any of their trophies (chains, skulls, flayed skin) on them so that has to come, but I'm fairly satisfied with what I got done
