I did forget to shave a few chaos symbols off the chainswords pre assembly so I'll need to go back and fix that before I prime them

So its been pretty slow for me in the whole painting department as I've been prepping my Raven Guard for a tournament (where they'll counts as Raptors) and honestly the amount of grey Night Lords is intimidating me (currently 15 Terror marines, 14 terminators, 8 metal raptors and 20 plastic raptors). On top of this I'm almost out and primer and regal blue...

 

So instead of replacing any of that I decided to do some work on Curze to ruin any other motivation to paint standard guys. At first I was going to do a very standard approach to his armour with a highlight or two to pick him out (similar to Sevetar). That idea was swiftly discarded after the very first highlight when I started blending instead. Now because I struggle with light theory it takes me a while to get the result I want, which means that after two and a half hours I got the left leg (knee down of the front) to a point I was happy with and just blocked out the rest of him...

First Legionnaire of the second squad done. I picked up some Blood for the Blood God and its excellent; I've touched up all my previous models with it. I've also started making a ton of guys with their CCWs, which will be mixed into every squad to keep things interesting (I did forget to trim off the chaos symbols though :? )

Now I noticed I painted part of his cloak as flesh originally so i'm going to have to go back and correct that, also he's getting a new right hand as the dagger one started to bend (and I never really liked it). New one is a beckoning hand from the new Dev kit. Am also going to shade his cloack more so there's more contrast

I'm slowly working on Curze, mainly because I'm never satisfied with my blending on what's the definition of a centerpiece model; if I were to concentrate on him it would mean the core of my army wouldn't be worked on so I'm waiting until most things are out of the way

So I realized after going on a painting rampage and almost fully painting up 5 power axe cataphractii that I had forgotten to take any "before paint" pictures for ETL....so I get to paint up another 10 to make it count lol.

 

To make sure I didn't make any more mistakes I checked my vow and realized I needed to paint a Lucius Pod up too.
