Thousand Eyes models: 1K Sons, Knights and Iron Warriors

Recommended Posts

I just got out of the ETL though. Plus for 30K I am planning on going Imperial Fists and  I have BaC sitting there....

Nooo!!! Well, I'm sure the Imperial Fists Expansion IV would be happy to have you, and even we will be happy to feast our eyes on your work :) (even if we're competing and mostly traitors doesn't mean we can't be polite :P)

++++ IRON WARRIORS KILL TEAM CAEDES ++++

Sergeant Caedes is back with his roving Kill Team with another few layers of paint. I am fed to my back teeth of painting trim at this stage though, Chaos Marines have so much! Still we shall not dwell on that and instead shall move forward with attempts at Iron Warriors chevrons and power weapons.

First up are the power weapons of the squad, which despite the looks have a lot of effort put into them. I started with  bright blue, as seen in the previous post. I then added darker blue across the edges and then I started mixing things. It is rare and new for me to try this but I think it worked. I had the lighter blue and white on my palette and I started to work them together, just a drop of white in and a dry brush over it all, then a lot more white, much lighter drybrush. Then the last of the white and just along the edges, as much as my meagre brush control allows at the moment.

Sergeant Caedes is back one last time before his outing to Warhammer World in a  couple of weeks. Yes I am actually going to go to the centre of GW madness and shock horror play some games! 16th and 17th of September I will be making the trip over with my Thousand Sons to get in a few games, take a few pictures, realise I am terrible at the game, blame my army and cry in the corner.

Sergeant Caedes himself:

I am torn between Sergeant Caedes and Specialist Reave for my favourite model of the squad, compared to the rest of the squad they have so much more movement. Lesson learned there I think, when making bulwarks of a squad in the troopers they should still have some movement.

Specialist Reave:

The three brothers of the blade:

I certainly agree about the trim, it's slowed down my painting motivation on more units than I care to admit...

The team's looking good, the work on the power weapons has paid off well.

Cheers for that Pearson. I think if the moulds for the models were sharper then a lot of it could done via dry brush very quickly, but since so are so dull and blobby by this stage it is hard to make out some of the details.

Quick question: is it easy to fit the chaos warrior shields to the bolter-bearing brothers? I'd like to use shields to WYSIWYG Mark of Tzeentch, and had thought about molding my own and using the shield-arms from [insert third party company who's name I have temporarily forgotten], but if the Chaos Warrior ones work well as-is, I might not bother over-much :)

Cool KT !!!

Cheers, the theme seemed to work.

The Chaos warrior shields come with the forearm attached, so it is just a case of taking of the marines arms at the elbow and some fiddling around. It isn't the worst conversion to do by far.

That's a very cool kill team. Nice work

My thanks.

+++THE STONE GAUNTLET: IMPERIAL FISTS+++

First squad for my Stone Gauntlet is done, maybe the next one will have the correct shields. These ones had to be modified, a lot. The riot shields are from Anvil Industries, the right hand flamer shield is a hatch from an old Rhino kit and the sarge is rocking the more ornate looking Age of Sigmar shield.

The Kill team look great. I love the colours you've chosen for your power weapons as well.

The stormcast shield on the breacher Sgt is a brilliant idea. Nice touch with the blood as well :)

Edit.

Can I ask where Khayons backpack is from? I really like the added details on it.

The blood on the sSgt shield is characterful.  Like Captain America doing dental work :laugh.:

I always imagined the shield would be a weapon as well in close like that. :)

These guys look good. Really like the look of the Stormcast shield on the sergeant.

If I had 9 more they all would have had them to be honest. Sadly I only had the one and I cannot buy Stormcast just for that.

Thanks Biohazard, the killteam were one of my better paint jobs for sure.

The backpack is from Wargame Exclusives, they do some wonderful Thousand Sons bits.

So it has been a long time since I posted, mainly as I couldn't remember my password and the password reminder mail didn't seem to arrive. But none the less I am back with a big post on my version of Magnus the Red. Everyone knows I am mostly aimed at Tzeentch endeavours and getting our Primarch first was wonderful. I don't keep him stock though.

I turned the rest around to give more of a reaching gesture, not perfect GS but I am pretty happy with it.

First layers of paint starting to go on. I wanted my wings to stand out and didn't like the box art dark ones.

IMG_20170106_204704.jpg

My plan for the base was to make it look like that ground was cracking beneath his feet and energy was starting to push up through the cracks.

Even more paint!

The wings starting to come together, the red will be blended more to match his flesh as they get closer to the shoulder.

Glad to see another Magnus! The blue of the hair really stands out, but maybe it would look even better if it was the same than the robes. Also you have some inspiring work in this thread, the Iron Warrior stuff looks great!

Yeah I have gone a bit scatter brained at times with which models I am doing, but most of the time I drift back to my Thousand Sons. Thanks for the compliment.

Looking great so far, I really like your alternate colour scheme and the almost pearlescent look you have on the wings. looking forward to this progressing

I just need to take some new pictures at the moment, I got a bunch of work done at the weekend. More soon.

Great stuff!

The more I see of Magnus without his chest armour on the more I'm like "Do I even wanna put it on?"

Bar the nipple horns of course.

They are a MUST.

Ha the horns are the main reason I keep the armour off. I am very glad they sculpted the chest.

Wonderful Magnus. Absolute stunning work on the wings.

P.S while you were absent, I did it^^ I painted something, hehe

Many thanks on that chief. I am still catching up on threads now, looking forward to seeing what you painted.

Keep him bare chested! It looks awesome!!!

Cheers.

Got some more work done now, starting to come together. Just lots of details to do.

IMG_20170116_220737.jpg

With the wings I tried to darken the colours around the green to help it pop, which I think has worked out.

From what I can see most people are doing the Staff of Magnus, but personally I quite liked the blade/kopesh look. Quite hard to catch the white and the green fire on it an camera though, more experiments for that I think. But I like how it came together in the end.
