Morning all!

I have decided to do some Night Lords to be allies with my Word Bearers. This is still very much a works in progress but thought I would share.

I wanted to have a much darker scheme then the standard as I think if you wore darker armour then you would blend into shadows much easier :smile.:

Thanks very much guys :). I obviously need to add the fetishes and what not to the armour but that will have to wait until I have been to the hobby shop to pick up some small chains. I also need to decide whether I want to paint a terror mask on his helmet.

Thanks for looking

OK, so this morning I have added the final few touches to the test model and am really pleased with him. The loincloth is the same as those I used on my Word Bearers but I painted it to look like flayed skin. i am most pleased with the Terror Mask. I finally found a good reference through a google search that showed me how to paint the MKIV helm when the vents on the front aren't In the same direction as a skulls teeth.

I then fiddled around with Pixlr and added the ghostly effect just because...

Fantastic work. The Terror mask adds so much character to it.

You have these ( NL's) spot on!

Thanks mate, It will be slow going but the finished army should look pretty terrifying when I'm all done :D

I really like his armor. It looks really vibrant and authentic, like midnight clad should. Additional shots of his back would be nice though  anyways, good work!

Thanks very much DarkVen, I will grab those shots for you today hopefully :tu:

Love the blue of the armour; you are tempting me to finish off my Terror Squad!! I do love Night Lords!!

Thanks Eidolon :D, Do it! I want to see them!

That Night Lord is A++! Love the terror markings and the lightning

Thanks Kizzdougs, this is my most successful attempt at lightning, I have failed miserably more times than I care to count and then found a really small brush that I wasn't aware I owned... that helped :D

Really well done Nemac, great work. Your painting is really tight.

This guy just oozes character :cool.:

Thanks Midnight :D, really pleased you like him :tu:

So more pictures of the back of the sergeant and then I'll try and get some WIP pictures of number two by the end of the day as well :)

Again, thanks for all the comments guys. It helps to keep me focused.

Nemac

Thanks Bio :tu:

I have done some more work on the second guy. The bulk of the armour is now finished with the exception of finishing off the lightning. next up is blocking out all of the metals ready for washes and then it's just the little details.

I will add some more pictures tomorrow after he is finished :D

The second Night Lord for my first squad is done. I modelled the skin fetishes using green stuff and the combat blade is from the Space Wolves sprue. I gave this guy a single red gauntlet because I had already painted the bolter for my Word Bearers and thought it looked pretty cool.

Next up is the special weapon marine. I don't like the look of the flamers you get in Betrayal at Calth so I have converted one of them to be more to my taste. I really can't wait for that second Horus Heresy box set so I can add some MKIII to my Night Lords and Word bearers. The Tartarus (if that's how you spell it) will be part of my Night Lords.

C&C Welcome as always.

Thanks Bio :tu:, Yea, I believe it is a sign of that marines impending death, whether by the hands of his brothers or in battle. I will probably only add a few of the red gauntlets throughout the army. I like it but don't want them to look like naughty Crimson Fists.

Nemac

More progress on Night Lord number three, this is the weapons specialist and will be armed with a flamer. Next step is to finish off the bronze and then start filling in the areas that will be Leadbelcher and of course washes over those areas. Agrax for the bronze and Nuln oil for the other metal areas.

The lightning on the head isn't that funny shape as the picture shows, It's just where the light has hit the helmet and distorted it. I'll endeavour to take a photo on my next update that doesn't make the detail on the head look wrong.

C&C welcome as always.
