Afternoon all,

So I have decided to rework my version of Captain Aphael slightly. I wasn't best pleased with the pose and every time I looked at him I felt it wasn't quite right. So with that in mind I ordered a new shoulder and two new arms for him and I will also be replacing the head with a bre head to better match the artwork. This will likely be a hairless head which I will sculpt the hair onto so it doesn't have 90's school kid curtains hanging down the forehead:

The next thing I have to show is the finished Tactical Squad which I realise some of which have been seen before but that I hadn't shared a complete photo of the entire unit, so, this should fix that error:

They are not that shiny off camera - I do not know what happened but assume it's the light from the window behind me when I was taking it :dry.:. Finally, I have mentioned that I would be doing my own version of Commander Dante and I am pleased to say that with the above mentioned bits order I finally received the shoulder guard for him and so here he is:

I would like to point out that the base is not finished and I am going to have to kill several Tyranids for decorative purposes. Anywho, that is all from me for the moment. I am currently finishing up the Sanguinary Guard and have built the second Tactical Squad and then I will definitely be finishing the Terminators (procrastination is an issue).

Thanks guys, I still have a bit of cleaning up to do on him but I have finished Aphael and three of the Sanguinary Guard so I will try and get pictures of those tomorrow. As for Dante he will be painted after the last two Guard are done and maybe after the priest :)

Really nice conversion there, definitely reads as Dante whilst still looking more modern than the original model. Nice work Nemac!!

As said over on Insta he looks fantastic bud, can’t wait to see him with some paint on :thumbsup:

I especially love the axe.

 

Thanks Bio :), I always felt that the axe on the GW model doesn't seem fitting for the Chapter Master. It is fairly plain I think, so I made that one out of one of the banner toppers and the double-headed SG axe. Also, you have now liked it twice :wink:

Boy has it been a long time since I commented here. great progress, and although a bit hobby butterfly-y, very inspired all around!

One comment about posting pics from the B&C library: I personally don't mind if pictures are so big they screw up the borders (never seen it, I always thought the code hrunk them until they fit). But if they do, I'd rather have that that having to click on each individual one to see them properly. Your pics are sometimes a little small... :tu: :)

With regard to the pictures it seems to happen if you grab the image from the menu when typing a new post. I've worked out that if I view the image in the gallery on a seperate window and copy the image address then I get larger images. I don't shrink the image when I edit it before posting so I assume that must be the cause. Only started using the B&C gallery this year I think so it's all new but I'm sure I'll get it eventually :D

 

I also have lots of ideas for so many different projects that I do tend to flutter between them. For instance I have come to the conclusion that I don't get on painting Death Guard, I mean, I was happy with what I did with them but I just didn't enjoy doing it. So there will be no more DG from me as they were a second attempt and destroyed my hobby mojo. With that in mind, this thread will mostly feature my Blood Angels and my Night Lords, though there may be long periods working on one or the other!

Cheers, buddy! I believe there's an option to post small, medium, and large pictures forom the B&C gallery, but it's so difficult to use I usually go for Imgur now that Photoshop is such a SoB to its users. 

 

Sad to see your DG go, but I can totally understand. And your Blood Angels look great, so hurray for those!

BTW I thoroughly enjoyed your tutorial on tabard making. SO SMART!

I always view the pic in my gallery, select large and copy and paste the link :-)

 

Any more work on dante nem?

 

Aye, that is what I've started doing. Dante has only progressed as far as moving from one end of my painting desk to the other but I will be doing him soon I promise! :D

i like that Dante a lot, I mean, I've done a couple of totally bespoke ones I was very proud of, but the simplicity of yours is inspiring. Really wonderful job. Only thing I'd actually suggest, would be to use a normal infernus pistol for the left arm, the classic one is a bit chunky and clunky looking on an otherwise pretty sleek model.

You may also want to trim the gorget so the head sits a little better maybe.

I will take your advice on the inferno pistol, it looks wrong near the one on my Sanguinary Guard and the barrel is extremely wide. I will probably butcher a meltagun though to get the cable on the inferno pistol. The head isn't glued in place yet though as there is a fair bit of cleaning to do at the back and some tidying up too so that too will probably sit a little lower. Thanks for the advice, it's always welcome :D. I should have an update later today or tomorrow for him.

Afternoon all,

A brief update to show how the Inferno pistol ended up on Dante and all to say that I have just about finished the Sanguinary Guard so should have pictures of them soon. As it is for now, here is Dante:

I was pretty pleased with the Axe. The Sanguinary Guard are now all done and I have finished The main bulk of Dante. I will paint his Jump Pack and then I will upload pictures of all of them!

So I have finished the Sanguinary Guard (finally!) and have a group shot to share with you all. I will get individual pictures at some point soon:

I will have pictures of Dante up in the next few days too. Hobby time comes at a premium this time of year but I will try and get him done as soon as possible :)
