Whoa, these models look incredible.

I'm excited to see this Kurze model finished! Definitely an inspiration to get back to my own models

Thanks Onyx :), I should have further updates for Curze very soon!

What is your reciepe for that blue, it is perfect!

Thanks abraxus :), the blue is Macragge Blue. I then mix Nuln Oil with Lahmian medium (about 50/50) and build up the effect with successive washes on the lower panels leaving a bit of the previous wash at the top. Recess wash Nuln Oil and then highlights of Aldorf Guard blue, Calgar blue and Fenrisian Grey.

Absolutely fantastic

Thanks D4rkPassenger :)

Looks great nem! Really liking the deep blue/purple of the armour. The silver trim keeps it very much grim dark 40k and loving the pale skin tone!

Thanks Sagentus :), I used Rakarth Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh for the skin. The silver trim I wanted as it matched the Forgeeorld images in the Heresy books. Pretty happy with how it's turning out!

Afternoon all,

I have managed a bit more work on Konrad Curze. I still have several highlights to add on some of the blue areas and not pictured is the cloak I have also been working on:

The corpses on the base are also taking shape and then it will just be the blood effects to add around them.

Afternoon all!

I have managed to get Konrad Curze finished though I may go back at some point and add the hand print to his knee. Currently I am not sure if I want to have it there or not. Also I could probably do with increasing the blood on the cloak as it appears to look quite thin but I will decide on that at a later date:

I will also try and get a picture of him with a different colour background and see if that helps to bring out the blue of the armour a little better. It is a a bit more vibrant than the pictures show. This is the first Primarch model I have been able to paint and I have to say I have really enjoyed it. I may have to get another one at some point but again that will wait because I want to have a fully finished Night Lords army by June of this year.

Thanks for looking and C&C is always welcome!

Wow Curze is looking phenomenal, can't wait to see him completed!

Thanks Vairocanum :), I hope that he hasn't disappointed!

And they say Sanguinius is the most beautiful Primarch...

Amazing! I much prefer your darker style to FW's lighter colours (never thought they were midnight blue) on Curze - fits him better!

Ha, thanks Chaz, I am happy the blue is well received. My previous iteration of Night Lords were much darker then this but I think with this scheme it is more obvious which legion they belong to :).

Dam that is a superb job, great work Nem! I wouldnt add the hand print, it looks perfect the way it is :smile.:

Thanks Sagentus :), No hand print then, I am very happy with that!

I should have a further update later today if all goes to plan.

FW also seems to have changed their recipe at some point - their Curze is lighter than their other Night Lords.

Curze looks awesome, the corpses and the cape are very well done, though I do think the hand print in the knee would look very cool, in case you had already decided something :tongue.:.

Thanks Traitor, I'll have to have a think on the hand print and possibly practice on a different model if I do decide to add it :)

I hadn't noticed that. I wonder if it's different painters though I see what you mean. Curze does seem to have a much lighter colour then Sevatar or the Night Raptors.

Thanks guys :), the armour is done by painting it Macragge Blue and then mixing 50/50 Lahmian Medium and Nuln Oil and building up the black at the bottom of the armour panels. After I use Altdorf Guard Blue, Calgar Blue and Fenrisian Grey for successive highlights.

Hope that helps!

Nemac

Thanks guys :D, glad you both like him! I should have another update soon with a couple more tactical marines. I have also ordered a Deimos Pattern Rhino for the first unit so I can try my hand at a slightly larger model and see how the scheme looks on that.

Nemac

Morning all!

I have finished the first five members of the tactical squad. They take a little more time then I am used to but I am very happy with how they are turning out:

gallery_74887_13568_566019.png

I have already started on the next five which also includes two MKIII marines for a bit of variety. I am hoping that my Forge World order arrives so I can assemble the second and third squads.Speaking of which I had started making a Sevatar conversion but then decided to use it as a squad sergeant. The chainsword is likely a placeholder for a chain glaive when I get around to switching it out:

I still have the backs of the feet to finish and a press cast Night Lords Legion symbol needs to be added to the left shoulder guard. The pistol will likely be replaced with an open hand when I can find one in my bits box becuase he already has a pistol holstered at his hip. As always let me know what you guys think and cheers for looking.
