Don't know if you have seen it but there are some rumors of RG creating Space Marines 2.0.

As for now, it is not clear what 2.0 will mean. Custodes army? Enhanced Marines? MK 9 + new wargear?

Everything can happen these days.

I'm more expecting Mk IX power armour and fancier guns. Not so much the marines genetic stock and whatever being redone because the Emps made that and I doubt they'd be so brash as to assume they could make better marine genetic stock than He on Terra.

I had not heard that rumor. Which gives me an idea. We know from Deliverance Lost that marines could potentially be improved upon. We also know that the Suzerainty are going to have a rough time as a smaller empire without the same connections to Mars and so on. What if, in the process of his research, Kozja does stumble upon a couple of minor advantages for the Suzerainty marines? Like, instead of a year of gene-seed implantation, he's able to cut it down to 10 months. Nothing huge, but it is a measurable advantage.

"...themselves,[ ]the most [brutal land] vicious..." And brutal.

I highly doubt these rumours to be honest, there's more than enough Space Marine armies out there already without a Marines 2.0 army as well, plus the only thing higher on the " :cuss napalm and :cuss landmines scale of badassery" are, in order, Custodes, followed by Primarchs and then the Emperor himself at the top. We don't need another group there. Edited by SanguiniusReborn

Right. I guess my expressing interest in chipping in for one of Mortera went totally unnoticed then

It did not. But that was back when we thought we were doing a series of individual pieces for each Primarch, instead of a group shot.

I'll send you the info.

c'mon Sangi, wake up. Blunt wants feedback.

Sorry, sorry, I'm here! What do you require of me blunt?

Info on what exactly making an Umbra involves. Are we talking Astartes-shaped servitors and nothing more, or are they augmented as well?

Honestly? I have no idea, Sim literally just made them up for his story. Edited by SanguiniusReborn

It would depend on the situation. After all, these are marines who can only be programmed for basic commands. So, the natural desire is going to be to not give them really expensive, hard-to-replace wargear. But if a Steel Legion commander is faced with a really hardy enemy that needs to be cracked on, there's nothing to stop him from adding more gizmos/augmentations to the broken marine to get the job done.

I get the feeling ya'll are heading towards making rules for these guys so I should hasten to point out the SL already have the three special units slots filled by the Aeterna Vets, Omnia Infiltrators and An-Temural Drop Bunkers. I'd suggest making the Fractus (liking that name by the way) a topic for one of those red Lore boxes, with there never really being enough of them to become a permanent fighting force within the Legion.

No rules necessary. Just wanted to explore some of the downsides of the neural network.

Also, my 40k mentor is willing to buy one or two units for my birthday. If I chose to expand the Wardens, what should I get? I have a consul/praetor, 5 tacs with a power sword, and 5 breachers right now.

Well. My suggestion would be either breachers/tacticals to make either of them up to 10 men. Then maybe some form of character model you could turn into a Vraben. That would give you a nice small selection of models that can be used as an Allied detachment pretty easily if you want (and are allowed) to use them in games. I suppose the alternative would be terminators you could turn into Myrmidons, just for the awesome factor :)

I'd say an assault unit so we can have Ruel in the resin.

Well, Ruel is in resin and is traveling to the US with Alex. So, no worries there.

Tacticals sound wise, although Nate is encouraging to aim a little higher since I could theoretically get the tacticals in that Heresy box set. How would I go about making Myrmidon? I believe I said they're Tartaros, right Blunt?
