Hehe. Yep. I don't even have all those models, yet, FYI.

 

I have a personal policy that I'm not allowed to buy more models than I recently finished.  Thanks to that, my "backlog" of shame is basically down to 10 blood angel scouts and 20 death company, my storm raven and my land raider.

 

I might have to break it for this challenge, of course :-)

 

EDIT: Taking the Grav Centurions off because they are almost entirely done, and because I re-read the whole thread from start to finish and found the original "start date" was June 15th. (I originally thought it was back in May when the thread first started up, and I did the Grav Centurions about 2 weeks ago so I thought they were "in".)

Love to see vows like that Rocmistro. Got ya added to the roster. I'll log the units you're for sure doing, and when you decide on the few unkowns you can either do a new vow for them or just let me know so i can keep my external records for the event accurate. :thumbsup: 

 

Also i like to picture my Race in a tuxedo t-shirt cause it says like I wanna be formal but i'm here to party too. :biggrin.:

Grav Centurions, just about done. Need some edge highlights, got to figure whether I want bolters, ironclad assault or missiles on the chest. Also need to finish a couple features on the base, and get the raven guard chapter badge on the right pauldron as soon as they arrive from Forgeworld. NOT counting these guys toward my pledge since they were finished before the 15th, but thought I'd include them for posterity.

Land Speeder's Scout crew and occupants, the 4 riders are magnetized so I can pull them out of the Storm and put them on bases after they deploy.

That's a sexy Tempest, Race.

 

I'll get my 2 done, well, eventually. Been a rough weekend that included 5 trips to Menards to get stuff I didn't realize I had to replace until I tore it apart.

 

Hopefully I'll be able to get some painting in tonight, but I'm not counting on it.

What I learned today:

 

I never painted white armor before and it was harder than I thought it would be.  The test vets arm came out a little 'chunkier' (with paint) than I normally hold myself to.  He'll definitely be the first casualty.  All in all, made good progress today though.  Still figuring out best angle and lighting for taking pictures.

 

Also, going to put my BA's here.

The GW page does have a good little piece on mini photography. :) I recently purchased a Foldio lightbox its pretty neat. :)

 

As for white ... yes that's white for you. If its not too late I also suggest checking out the GW youtube vids on how to paint not white white. It'll save yourself a lot of pain!

Otherwise I find Ulthuan grey base, nulin wash then many thin coats of white scar + medium + water will eventually get you there.

Quick update on my vow :)


And so it begins...

Started on the base to get used to the large surface area, the large base brush and Castellan green consistency.
It takes about 3-4 thin layers (Duncan would be proud).
All up this took probably over an hr... hopefully once this base goes down the camo will go on quicker and require less coats.
I wish I had an air brush!!

The bag has the turret/sponson bits. I plan to magnetize the sponsons. The Primaris dude has the sword/pistol combo because THAT guy looks cool.
