Marshall Bretton
Calling the new tank the Praetorian would be completely against the existing naming convention and make no sense: Leman Russ - not wolf king Malcador - not sigilite Macharius - not lord solar Valdor - not captain general That being said who actually cares what it's called? Does it matter? Emperor Ming, Arbedark, lansalt and 3 others 5 1 Back to top
Lay
Having a Rogal Dorn tank in 40k might be an indicator that GW doesn't plan to bring the actual Rogal Dorn back.

Whereas naming something pragmatically in real military is expected, a writer for a science fiction setting should have a bit of flair and nuance. It's fine if you don't want flair and nuance. Enjoy it named how you want it. Id almost let you pretend this was a valid point if it werent for the fact that presecedent exists in universe too. Or have you championed this cause against the leman russ too for the past 3 decades? EDIT: honestly, several other things wrong with that as well Edited October 26, 2022 by Marshal Reinhard Oxydo, Khornestar and Arbedark 3 Back to top

I'm not particularly impressed about the Leman Russ tank being called such and I wouldn't have chosen it either, but like you said, it's 30 years old. Unless you think I need to go out and criticise everything existing that isn't to my taste, despite this being a new release in a news and rumours section that is relevant to talk about the new name of this said new something? It doesn't really matter to you that I dared to state I didn't like the name, felt it was hacky and clumsy. Don't agree? Cool. But it's taking things away from the news and rumours to pursue me for not agreeing with you. So I'll leave the conversation now. Sherman is a General from Hamburgers and Fries land while Praetorian is a random latin word with no connection to anything and therefore classy and sophisticated. That's not how informal names work, they tend to be fewer words than the official one. It kind of had to be the Rogal Dorn. Couldn't have been the Johnson or worse, the Corvus Corax or Ferrus Manus. Can you imagine? :D "Yes, General Sir, this here is is our brand new delivery of heavy tanks, the magnificient Johnson! You can be sure that we'll get our big Johnson's right into the enemy faces just as soon as we can!" 4 hours ago, Closet Skeleton said: Yes, obviously. Slave to Darkness
Either way I like tanks, and my simple monkey brain is telling me I want one. Loosing the nipple guns though, I think I still have a Krieg tank guy kicking about somewhere to make it look perfect. I think this tank would look great in the colour scheme Duncan Rhodes uses to paint his Baneblade in for the tutorial on his YouTube channel, and think the tank commander would make a great additional feature. Gorgoff
That thing looks so ridiculous. One if the worst tanks in 40k so far. The main gun is so close to the gunner, that it couldn't work at all, this gunner can't have legs, one of the dudes stands on the back of the turret and the tank itself had thousands of weapons. What a joke. But what would you think you get if you have the name of one of the biggest Loosers in 40k history. FormelyKnownAsSmashyPants
Well I like it. And to be fair, surely the moniker of worst 40k tank belongs to either the Repulssor or Impulsor, with the which ever of the two isn’t actually the worst, coming in a very close second. FarvegNugan
It looks like an upsized Churchill black prince or french ARL 44 bothbts built out of very good infantry tanks. I mean it's got the nose and tracks of the Churchill and Churchill's were a very good tank that acquitted themselves very well. The guard doesn't need maneuver tanks to win wars in fields. They need a tank that can climb any hill and fight anywhere and take a hit from anything but the biggest guns. An upsized modernised ton41st millenium standard, churchill black prince would fit that bill Edited October 30, 2022 by FarvegNugan Doctor Perils, Marshal Reinhard and Evil Eye 3 Back to top
