1 Copy only for FLGS is confirmed worldwide. I don't know what GW is doing here.

Our FLGS has five, lol. Only one is spoken for.

The "one copy for LGS" thing is a contractual minimum that some stores have, to ensure they get at least one of every stock item they can order as part of a release.

Do they tend to do additional future print runs of the splat books for specialist games?

I’ve always been lucky enough to get the ones I want on launch until now but just realised I’ll be driving to a kids party at 10am tomorrow…

If we're going by the Horus Heresy books it seems to be the case. All the Liber books are still in stock and the examplary battles book is also temporarily out of stock.

Traitor and loyalist legio books for Titanicus have also had reprints iirc

I've had one of my monthly thinking moments and was wondering: might this be an ad-hoc anti scalper measure? Suddenly spreading books (thinly) among flgs and shops makes it so a lot less copies could be scalped.

GW have ensured scalpers can't buy them by making it so nobody can buy them.

This isnt a release id expect to scalp, and im not sure how that would even stop that?

Yeah I'm just thrown off by the fact that they suddenly decided to make some usually direct only items scattershot available locally. Same with the Horus Heresy artbook that was available in FLGS.  I'm wondering if they're changing policies on the direct only stuff due to the fiasco that is the site combined with the scalping.

I dont think its scalping, most of that came straight from GW direct apparently as GW came down hard on some LGS's for scalping mini boxes a while back, i imagine they still take a dim view of that! Did make me think though, and i do recall a lot of very foolish people bragging on FB groups about pre ordering their copies of old world from stores before they were meant to, and i think this might be a reaction to that? GW HATES when LGS sell things early so they might be punishing folks, specifically or not, for doing that?

It does feel like it cant be production difficulties, they would have ordered the regular number of copies of this book after all? Unless something silly happened like half the books getting damaged in transit or something?

Stuff is up on the Japan store, some new infos:

The card pack contains

– 2x Legiones Astartes Formation Cards (Drop Pod and Fast Attack)
– 10x Legiones Astartes Detachment Datasheet Cards
– 3x Solar Auxilia Formation Cards
– 7x Solar Auxilia Detachment Datasheet Cards

The SM cards should be the 4 types of Drop Pods, 4 units in the fast attack box, Spartans and Proteus Land Raiders which is 10 different units and would be everything currently revealed

The SA should be Cyclops, Valdor and Infernus, Stormhammer, Dracosan and Basilisk/Medusa. Its either Basilisk and Medusa each have their own cards which would be 7 or they are just a weapon swap and the Arvus gets a new card since the plastic models have that new bit that looks like a gun. No matter which one it is it would again be everything currently revealed.

Now to wait for the reviews in a few hours to see what the rules actually are. I'm really surprised they never did an article about the new formations and units, just the one about titans. For SM we at least know the formations already through the WD battlereport but no idea what the 3 SA could be, except one is probably an aerial assault of some kind.

Has gw just given up? I know people like new stuff, but back when we had rare releases, you could at least be guaranteed to buy anything you wanted. Now they do just enough to get scalpers a fomo profit.

my understanding is the process to create the molds for their current generation of kits is both long and expensive.  GW needs to invest in being able to make more total models rather than stretching their existing production ability across more products.  But at least they are investing money back into the company.  I would be worried when they suddenly stop releasing new kits for months and are coasting on their existing product range.

I know people have said there are reasons why they can't expand their existing production site, and why they can't set up a US production site.  But they are in the UK not Canada (where the next decent sized city might be 200 kilometers away), they can't go 10 or 20 kilometers away to a nearby city and set up a second production site?  I would think local politicians in any city in central England would be foaming at the mouth if a publicly traded British company is asking about setting a new manufacturing facility in their neck of the woods.  I would have thought even the threat of that would get whatever log jam exists in local issues sorted, I can't imagine the local council would want headlines of "GW sets of second production facility in town X because the Nottingham council told them to :cuss::cuss:.  New facility is estimated to create xyz new jobs."

Sheffield with all of the high power infrastructure left over from the now lost steel industry is less than an hour from Nottingham. And I bet the city council would be very helpful to a British company wanting to build a factory there.

Anyway. What’s the release backlog at the moment? Is there much else ready to go or could we see a second wave this Sunday? I know that on the 40K side there’s the full DA release. There’s also the Orks (but we haven’t seen the Mek yet so can’t be them). KT has been shown, so could be that. What about AoS?

GW say in their reports that there's enough machine capacity in their existing facilities in Nottingham; the issue is (reputedly) the power grid not allowing them to run those facilities at max capacity. I suppose GW want to try and get that resolved rather than having to eat the cost of setting up an entirely new facility elsewhere, which would be pretty massive. We should remember that the existing facilities have been built up gradually over 35~ years.

But aside from that cost, you're not wrong that political pressure might help. The threat of losing jobs from a major UK company to another region -in an election year as well - might encourage local MP to get involved, presuming they aren't already.
