I'd rather see them as an alternative build to Melticators because then one box would be anti-vehicle and the other box would be anti-infantry.... So place my wishing on new Volkite option to replace the Heavy Bolters. L30n1d4s
Does anyone know, has GW given any indication of whether units in your army get access to rules/strats from all the Detachments you take, or do they have to be "slotted" into a particular Detachment and only benefit from that Detachment's rules/strats? For example, if I have the Firestorm Assault Force as my main detachment and the new Plasma focused detachment for Dark Angels as a second detachment in my 2000 point army, would my Hellblasters get +2s to their Plasmas when shooting an enemy within 12" ? I'm pretty sure that the units are not slotted into detachments; all the rules of all of the chosen detachments apply to all applicable units. jaxom 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387868-armageddon-the-space-marine-half/page/10/#findComment-6170428 Share on other sites

Correct, GW confirmed this. It’s just a question of if the rules regarding stacking bonuses remains the same or not. So place my wishing on new Volkite option to replace the Heavy Bolters. You know, if the "just throw an extra sprue in" idea for the Eradicators is what they go with, there would be plenty of room for more than just the Heavy Bolters. I can see a world where they surprise us with grav and neo-volkite to give multiple anti-infantry and anti-vehicle options. Would also help expand the offerings of the latter two, as we only have them in pistol or Tor Garadon version currently jaxom 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387868-armageddon-the-space-marine-half/page/10/#findComment-6170442 Share on other sites

No, that makes sense and is how they're supposed to work; they crush things under their own weight, so lighter targets are pretty unaffected whilst very heavy things are fethed. Would make for an interesting mechanic. Cool way to do would be for the wound roll to be equal to the targets armour save, with maybe re-roll 1s to wound against things over a certain toughness, say 8+. Maybe Sustained Hits 1 against models with T8 or higher? It's hard to think of a way to make it all work so that one doesn't return to the old problem where grav-weapons were great against both heavy infantry and vehicles.
