Have you guys seen the new Marine combat patrol for 11th? I think it's a really great set and it might be a better way for people to start if they are only interested in the Marines from the launch box.

You get the new Shield and Sword Captain, 10 Intercessors, 5 Vanguard Veterans and the Speeder. Going forward this is a much better "generic" starter than what we had in 10th.

I still think the Combat Patrols are too expensive, however. If they were sold for £80 - 90 (or $120 bucks in the US) they would generally be a lot more approachable for people.

Are you sure? I see only 12 infantry models (10 infantry, 2 characters) and the Land Speeder. Call me cynical but you're most likely getting half of this sprue in that box. Each side has 5 intercessor bodies.

You can see some blurry Vanguard in some of the images I've seen. Valrak has some screens in one of his vids.

You can definitely see the Vanguard with their swords aloft on the cover.

Edit: Never mind. It looks to be:

5 Intercessors

5 Vanguard

Librarian

Captain
Speeder

Strange that they'd split the intercessors given that it is ten unique sculpts.

Yeah this is so strange and disappointing. It costs GW pennies to add the full sprue and it would make this smaller box legitimately great.

At least it looks like the Sergeant and the AGL are on the same half-sprue so you get a functionally complete squad (although the Chainsword is the weakest option for melee weapons).

I guess it calls back to this guy.

Feeling nostalgic so I kitbashed a Space Marine Sergeant to try replicate the pose from the 2nd Edition monopose tactical marine sergeant. . . . . . . . #spacemarine #spacemarines #warhammer40k #
