AdMech Patrol #2 - Progress report

    By Bouargh

Blog entries pass and sometimes look like very similar to some previous ones. It is one of the issues when dealing with army building on base of multiples buy outs of the same Patrol Box...   Yet we might eventually expect some variation if the models are fitted in different fashion, ain´t we?   The Onagre DuneCrawler as already been spoiled in the FOrums, but it has been the major progress of the past week so I will "proudly" republish it there. It is also an unhonorable  wa

    Dakota Minor Defence Corps (PDF)

    By Mike Zulu

Introduction Like many established Imperium worlds, Dakota Minor has a planetary defence force simply known the Dakota Minor Defence Corps (or DMDC). Most of its number are conscripted from the local population; a small number of citizens willingly join to escape the tedium of farm life that is prevalent on Dakota Minor. The DMDC is organised in a manner similar to Astra Militarum regiments, albeit more limited in their makeup. For the most part, it consists of dozens of infantry battalions

WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHGGGGGGGGGG ( The First Appearance of the orks are here)

So a week ago I got asked to make a coaster set, and the only thing it said, was orks. So, I made it as orky as I could. These are 4" slate coasters, featuring the bad moons, evil sunz, blood axes, kult of speed, goffs, and the standard ork faction symbol. I'm quite pleased with how these turned out, hopefully some ork players can swing by and give some feedback on how I did. and if you want a set for yourself, click here : tomcatlasercreations.etsy.com and remember to use discount code

The Wisest Of the Wise, and The Crimson King, the last of the established covers.

So this is not necessarily the closing of this project, but an important Milestone. with these 2 designs done, the last of the GW made Primarch Hardcovers is done. Now To do Horus' which will be I Feel some time in the making. But first, a bit of a breather while I rest on my laurels of what I've accomplished.  There will be more for a few factions or at least one's I've thought of so far. The Lord Of Iron, The Red Angel, and the Night Haunter have entered the field!

3 more completed,  3 still to go.  As I get nearer to seeing the completion of this project, I'm excited to see what books I plan on joining these But that's for another time. The Slave, The Lord, and Flayer. I'm quite happy with how these turned out, I was considering doing silver for Perty but Decided against it and I truly love it, especially since, well part of his colors are the same as his most hated legion.  Now it's time for Magnus, Lorgar, and finally my vision for what a

From Kriegers to Sororitas orders to Son’s of Horus, OH MY!

So this week I got some interesting orders, and I wanted to show off some of the designs, as they’re some specific groups I don’t normally get orders for   So Krieg is the most popular group I just don’t get orders for, and I’m super happy how they turned out!   the other is sororitas orders, I’m used to doing a fleur de lis but the specific orders or normally glanced over so doing a martyred lady, Ebon Chalice, AND Valorous heart in one order, just really brought a smile to

Warhammer 40k Kill Team QRC summaries

What's the problem?   Have you ever thought that relying too much on rule books and summaries makes it slow and cumbersome when playing Warhammer 40k Kill Team?   Above all when you're starting with a new Kill Team, it's hard to keep track of the different operatives' stats, all their ploys, equipment... And if you're sharing the same book with other people in the same game it makes all the experience really slow. You spend more time turning pages arou

Warhammer 40k Kill Team Printable Tactical and Strategic Ploys

What's the problem?   Have you ever thought that relying too much on rule books and summaries makes it slow and cumbersome when playing Warhammer 40k Kill Team?   We used to see that reviewing Ploys every turn in your books (when sometimes you may also be sharing the same book) made it all slower. Furthermore, when you're starting to play with a new Kill Team, the learning curve and cognitive can be quite high. If that team also has special abilities like Guardsmen Orders or

A Continued Look into the Past.....2022 Commission Work

Did I learn my lesson and take a break?    No. No I did not.   In fact, I immediatly kicked off the year with two simultaneous commissions, a long slow burn one from my regular client with

Calgar and Vitrix Honour Guard Completed!

After finishing Calgar and his Honour Guard before the weekend, I was stuck waiting for my basing supplies to arrive before I took a few completed shots.   All in all, I'm really happy with how things have turned out. Sure, improvements can still be made, which will show on the next models I do, which, incidentally, are my Leviathan Marines for the Combat Patrol.   Group Shot   Honour Guard 1   Honour Guard 2   Calgar

Recipe for colours used to date.

Keeping in mind this blog is designed to showcase the TTCombat paints, and my (limited) painting ability with them, here is the recipe I have been using to date.     The main blue armour is as follows:   Throwing Shade Blue and Thinner Medium mixed in a 3:2 ratio for the base layer. Poster Boy Blue and Thinner Medium mixed in a 2:1 ratio for the mid-tone. Vega Blue Grey and Thinner Medium mixed in a 2:1 ratio for the edge highlights.   The "whit

Medical emergency, delays in shipments.

Greetings,   Unfortunately, my work trip has taken a turn. I am now dealing with a family medical emergency in a foreign country and it looks like my return date may not be the 22nd of June. Obviously my focus is on my family member's health crisis at this time. All inquiries, and indeed all order shipments will be replied to as I am available, until my eventual return to the office and full availability. If you have an outstanding order and would like to cancel at this time,

First Post: Let's Go

To showcase what somebody of average ability can do with the upcoming TTCombat Paints, I present my first Ultramarines in their current WIP state.     Yes, they are all in Subassemblies.  I'm also going to be adding my progress once my Leviathan box arrives. I'm going to update my blog with significant progress, rather than in a set schedule.

A Look lnto the Past....or May 2020, my First Commissions

It's March 2020, and I've just been told my hours were being scaled back from 24hrs p/w to 9hrs p/w, due to a certain global pandemic. I have a mortgage, bills, a family to feed, so I decided to take the plunge and start Commission Painting. I'd been considering it for a while, the biggest draw for me to commission painting is, that I would get to paint models and factions I would never buy for myself. I had recently discovered Fiverr (a website where people post their (mostly digital) skills, a

Manufacturer spotlight: Wargames Atlantic and the damned

Greetings all.   I was thinking about the best ways to introduce my web store and the product lines I carry to all of the hobbyists here on Bolter and chainsword.   So what I've decided to do is a manufacturer spotlight series discussing the various manufacturers that I carry and what they can be used for to add your hobby collections.   Starting with Wargames Atlantic. Opened in 2019, war games Atlantic has proceeded to trail blaze a path in the hard plastic wargam
