    Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. The Iron Duke, his twin Earthshaker cannons blasting holes in the enemy's fortifications. He guards those retreating and the wounded behind his massive blast shield

    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

New Fiction: The Man in the Box

THE MAN IN THE BOX     The Crusade Fleet hung over Mars like a crown of steel. The Verdant Oath and her escorts gleamed in the thin light, engines humming a low, patient warning. Dust storms swirled beneath the atmosphere, curling around the temples of the Adeptus Mechanicus like smoke over fire. High Sentinel Varyn Drakus walked the bridge, reviewing manifest after manifest, fleet strength, Blade assignments, and tonnage. Every calculation balanced, every number accounted for—or

New Fiction: Absolutum: The Journal of Elias Renn

JOURNAL OF ELIAS RENN   (Recovered fragment. Original medium: bound paper journal, water- and ash-damaged.)     Entry I:   I write this as I walk.     The road south cuts through the hills like a scar. I have followed it since dawn, though I no longer remember leaving the last town. Only the smoke remains clear in my mind—black and greasy, climbing into the sky like a signal flare for something vast and patient.     They came without warning

New Fiction: What Man Did Not Make

The vox-bead clicked once as the channel closed.   Chaplain Urraca remained motionless, helm inclined, as though awaiting a response that doctrine insisted would not come. The report had been delivered precisely: identification, coordinates, mission status. All brothers deceased. Objective secured. Requesting retrieval.   There was no benediction. No acknowledgment rune. Only silence.   He lowered his hand.   The void station was cooling. Heat bled from fr

New Fiction: The Return of the Green Knight

THE RETURN OF THE GREEN KNIGHT     The strike cruiser Verdant Oath did not sound a welcoming chime.   The Thunderhawk settled into its cradle amid drifting vapor and cooling metal. From its hold emerged a lone figure clad in black ceramite.   Brother Martin bore the sigil of the Deathwatch upon his pauldron. The Inquisitorial mark still clung to his armor, dull and intrusive, like a scar that refused to fade.   No honor guard awaited him.

Any suggestions on how to Paint The Green Templar?

I've picked out a color scheme I like, thought out most of the various markings for ranks.   Black kneepad for basic troopers, gold for Sergeant/Veterans/Lieutenant/Captain   Blue for Librarian   Red for Tech-Priests   White for Apothecarion   The rest of the Armour will match the rest of the army. I never liked the specialists looking radically different from the rest of the force.   These guys keep it simple. They already have gold pa

New Fiction: The Final Cogitator Entry of Captain Sébastien Yorke

They are the Green Templar: hunters of forbidden relics, executioners of knowledge, and the hammer that keeps the Dark Age of Technology buried forever. Successors of the Salamanders, they strike where the Imperium dares not tread, leaving nothing alive that could betray what they hunt.   FINAL COGITATOR ENTRY OF CAPTAIN SÉBASTIEN YORKE:   They came aboard without ceremony.   No warning chime. No challenge from the augur decks. One moment the Gloria Invictus drifte

Chapter Icon Color Help

Ok, I've decided on a Color scheme for the army, and reduced the weirdness of their lore thanks to some help from @Kabaakaba      They are Salamanders Green with a Black right kneepad. This way Vulcan can slide right in. (He'll have one shoulderpad be the Templar Cross and have a Templar backpack)   But the question I have is, which looks better:    A white background with a Black Templar Cross.... or..       A Black Background with a W

Dawn of War: No Plan Survives Contact With the Enemy

My plan didn’t survive 3 days.    I laid out my idea and had someone point out a very obvious point to me:   "You are playing Blood Ravens, who are known for their many Librarians. And there aren’t any in your army."   I can't have a fluffy theme army that ignores the thing the Chapter is known for (besides Steel Rain and poor decisions).   So, I scrapped a squad of Intercessors I don't own yet and got rid of the Lieutenant with Combi-weapon that I can't fi

Dawn of War: The 13 Month Plan

Alright, I've built a list that no one seems to hate, but will probably be invalidated when 11th Edition rolls around.   I have 2 insane conversion ideas that I'm gathering bits for:   1. The Ancient will be in Grey Knight power armour, carrying a Standard that's not the Blood Ravens and loaded down with "gifts" from other chapters.   2. Vulkan He'stan will be in Adeptus Custodes armour with some other ideas I'm still working on.   Here's my current list (

Where The end begin

Atonement is your duty. Retribution is your path. He hurried. Fumbling in his robe and pushing aside slack servants, the Confessor hastened along the endless gallery. Sunlight streamed through stained-glass windows depicting saints and martyrs, heroes and Primarchs, painting the corridor with every color of the rainbow. Ferdinand never ceased to marvel at the skill of the masters. They created these windows two thousand years ago. It seemed like Saint Zafar was about to step from paint

Dawn of War: Core Concepts

So, here's my plan.   I want to build a themey and fun Blood Ravens army that will be fun to play, but still hold its own in games.   There is one thing I want in a 2,000 point list: A Knight Paladin in the Blood Ravens colors.   Right now, I have the following models available:   3 × Eradicator (no multi melta) 3 × Bladeguard Veteran  1 × Bladeguard Veteran Ancient  1 × Chaplain  1 × Judicar 1 × Infernus Marine   various

"I long for death, not because I seek peace, but because I seek the war eternal."

Well I kept going back and forth on building Imperial Fists or Exorcists for my Crux Terminatus box.  And my Tortuga, basing, and cloaks all arrived for my Grey Knight Project.  Still waiting on my Army Painter order to arrive, but Spray Gunner order arrived so I'll be setting up quick disconnects on my airbrushes. I really need to change my Spray booth filter, this week too.    It was a cold and wet few days here and glad I had water traps on my airbrushes and compressor. Even paintin

Let the skies roar and the world tremble! 10th Company of Imperial Fists- Scouts

"DO WE BEMOAN SUCH LOSSES? NO! WE ARE THE FISTS! WE DO NOT NEED TO HIBERNATE OR SPIT VENOM. WE CRUSH OUR ENEMIES!" - Teachings of Rhetoricus, upon the losses of Sus-an Membrane and Betcher's Gland.     So I love Scouts. possible more than I love terminators. I have 2 Squads of 5 in my Exorcists Chapter (actually I have 11 models done for them)      So when I am thinking about building my Emperor's Shield Detachment Imperial Fist forces I know I want Scouts

1st Company of the Imperial Fists Chapter part 3- Now with Paint!

"The Emperor commands us. Dorn guides us. Honour shields us. Fear our name, for it is vengeance." Rhetoricus of the Imperial Fists   So I was going to to paint the models as Exorcists. So yesterday I pulled the Terminators to work on them. 17 Terminators built, counting the characters.  One of the terminators needs a magnet in the base. The Terminators are primed Army Painter Plate mail primer and I figured lets work on the Chaplain and Librarian.    Not Exorcists

1st Company of the Imperial Fists Chapter - Part 2

"The Imperium is nothing less than the greatest fortress in Human history. Every world is a bastion, a redoubt made mighty by faith and toil. We are the defenders of this fortress, the praetorians who stand watch upon the walls, and who sally out to shatter each new threat as it masses before the Imperium’s gates. While we stand our watch, this realm shall never fall."   Vladimir Pugh, Chapter Master of the Imperial Fists (deceased)         So I am proceedin
