CSM 10th edition Forgefiend This is a topic about Forgefiend in the 10th edition. Do you use them? How are you using them? Do you think they perform well? How do you equip them? Is there a detachment that they are extra crucial? Other Unit of the Week for Chaos Space Marines can be found in the link below. Chaos Space Marine Unit of the Week Links

From the album: Brotherhood of Dust
The Sorcerer Lord Amon knew his assembled warband needed an icon, something that would strike fear into his enemies while simultaneously giving his forces much needed firepower. He instructed his Warpsmith, Ptah, to create a machine worthy of his vision, and assembled his Coven to prepare the binding ritual. This ritual normally lay within the domain of the Dark Mechanicus, but Amon's recruitment of Ptah to his cause gave him access to spells not normally available. On completion of the new Daemon Engine shell, a Forgefiend, the spell was cast, and the daemon Ammut was dragged from the warp and imprisoned within the machine. Azure flesh grew around the inner mechanics now coursing with vibrant warp energy, its green glow spilling from large cables in the limbs, crystal lenses in its chest, and warpstone eyes. Its soul bound to the coporeal plane and its will utterly shattered by the sorcerous power of Amon and his Coven, the daemon Ammut fell swiftly into the complete control of the Brotherhood of Dust.© Mark McCauley (Gnom3y)

+++Unit of the week+++ Fiends How do you use Fiends? Marks Armament Equipment Role This is a discussion about Fiends, both Forgefiends and Maulerfiends in the 10th edition index. Tell us your tactics, fun facts, your experience with them, and other things that are interesting with Fiends. I combined the both fiends together, even though they have different roles and tactics, as they come in the same box, plus if we are going to manage to get through all the units before the codex drops some units must be combined. ++Thousand Sons Unit of the Week++ ++Forgefiend++ New codex, new discussions about units! As we already have in other faction sections, I'm starting up a Unit of the Week series for Thousand Sons, where each week we select and dissect a datasheet found in the book, and discuss how we use the unit in-game, favoured loadouts and combos, essentially how to use these units best. What have you found that works, and what doesnt? Please try to stick to the idea of making the unit in question work, as opposed to pointing out other units that might do a better job - we'll get to those in time! This week, we will be discussing the Forgefiend - we'll get to other units in time as we all unpick the codex and get some games in. What are you thoughts, and how best would you use the unit? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Will you be running multiple units? What <GREAT CULT>, loadouts, spell and Stratagems support do you prefer and how much does it depend on the above choices? Are you buffing this unit? If so, how? Uses in Matched, Narrative and Open Play How have they fared for you in-game? Over to you. ++Thousand Sons Unit of the Week Index Link++

+++Unit of the week+++ Forgefiend This thread is only for tactics for Forgefiend, not for pictures, there are other places for that. How to best use the Forgefiend? Legion? Which stratagems are worth throwing out? Any solid unit combos?

So I am assembling a wordbearers force and I have a blood slaughterer of Khorne, a Contemptor dread, a Venomcrawler and a disco lord already in the way of demon engines. I have picked up the decimation force battlebox and I’m about to start work on the forge/maulerfiend. Bearing in mind that it looks like they are going up to WS3/ BS3, what do you guys think would be the sensible option for building it. I definitely prefer the forgefiend model, but it seems like Maulerfiends are where it’s at for CSM at the moment. Am I likely to be gimping myself going with my preference or are the Forgefiends actually an alright choice, and if they are OK what dot you think are the best guns for them?

So, here's the deal. Tomorrow, I'm going up to my FLGS to adopt a Fiend box. It's been sitting on their shelf all by its lonesome all this time, and it needs some friends, so I'm buying it, taking it home and building it for my Word Bearers. The question is... how should I build it? Should I go for the sheer visceral joy of having two Thunder Hammer equivalents and a swarm of mechanical tendrils, or perhaps the Thunder Hammer equivalents and a pair of magma cutters to make quick work of tougher foes? Maybe a set of Ectoplasma Cannons - three, of course - to burn through the enemy in the name of the Architect of Fate, or perhaps a pair of Hades Autocannons to cut through hordes like butter and a daemonic maw in case it gets into melee?
