"Confounding the foe is one sure way to victory. When this strategy is pursued, war becomes a game of opposites and expectations." — Jaghatai Khan, Khagan of the V Legiones Astartes, Tenets of War The Falcon's Claws are an ancient and ferocious 3rd Founding Successor Chapter created from the lineage of the proud and savage lineage of the White Scars. Created in the wake of the Great Scouring, the Chapter took their namesake from the V Legion's ancient auxiliary order known as The Burgediin Sarhvu or 'Falcon's Claws', a small Order composed of veteran warriors that excelled as hunters and forward scouts on the battlefield, well known for their expertise in survival and the quiet elimination of enemy commanders. When this Chapter was formed at the dawn of the 32nd Millennium, they carried on the traditions of their order, continuing to stalk the battlefields across various warzones, delivering swift and brutal death to those that would dare oppose Mankind's manifest destiny as the rightful inheritors of the galaxy. From the album: White Scars Homebrew Chapters
The Celestial Heralds are a Loyalist Successor Space Marine Chapter created during the 15th Founding from the proud and noble lineage of the White Scars. The history and character of the Celestial Heralds is inseparable from the sub-sector they call home and have defended for the past five millennia. The Huaguo Sub-Sector has a long and proud history of culture and productivity under the Imperium of Man. Though obscured by warp storms for an extended period, when they made their first contact in a centuries following the opening of the Cicatrix Maledictum, Terra came to realize that Huaguo sub-sector was reeling from blows it may never be able to recover from. Rebellious elements of every stripe have begun to pick apart the once peaceful region, with one having been so successful they even forced the sub-sector's Great Purity government into signing a treaty handing over worlds and establishing heretical embassies on loyalist planets. The Tau empire has taken advantage of the sub-sector's weakness to employ both trickery and violence in taking a whole swathe of northern mining worlds and are now worryingly close to the capitol hiveworld, Jingxing. But worst of all is the decadent decay that has struck at the very highest levels of the sub-sector. The civilian government is run by a group known as the Eunuchs, once able administrators who have now devolved into almost comically nepotistic and corrupt bureaucrats. Compounding the issue, the chapter master of the Celestial Heralds is deeply involved with these Eunuchs and through personal loyalty, political blindness, and a complete loss of touch with the situation in his old age, has allowed his control of the situation to completely deteriorate. Reinforcements and Primaris Space Marine upgrades were sent to the sub-sector as soon as contact was made, but further assistance has since been put on hold. It is as yet unclear whether the Huaguo Sub-Sector should be considered fully loyal, or if measures should be implemented. The High Lords of Terra have placed the matter on their docket for consideration with high priority, and we expect a decree on the topic in only a few more centuries. From the album: Dark Angels Homebrew Chapters
The Harvesters is a loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the recent Ultima Founding from the ancient and aloof Dark Angels. Since its inception, this Chapter has garnered a reputation for its cold calculating approach to waging wars. More so than in other chapters the life of each battle-brother is considered secondary to his duty. This astartes chapter earned a fearsome reputation for their ability to get behind enemy lines and dismantle the command structure. Their mastery to prosecute a swift and silent style of war, to smother the enemy's ability to resist, steal their will to fight with precision strikes, and gain the acquisition of key intelligence for use by other forces. And their dedication to their duties make them highly effective warriors. Read More: Harvesters© Algrim Whitefang

"They are what they need to be. None can fault them for that." — Supreme Grand Master Azrael of the Dark Angels The Marines Baleful are a 15th Founding Dark Angels Successor Chapter, one with a dark and shrouded history. Originally known as the Angels of Valiance, a proud and arrogant chapter obsessed with their own superiority. However, after their arrogance nearly became their downfall, the chapter underwent drastic changes to its structure, livery, and and culture, renaming themselves the Marines Baleful. They have since become a mysterious and potent force against the enemies of the Imperium, striking fear into the hearts of their foes. Read More: Marines Baleful© Algrim Whitefang

Ashen Angels Armorial

From the album: Dark Angels Homebrew Chapters
"Amidst the shadows of adversity, we stand, not as mere mortals, but as the living embodiment of the Ashen Echo. In the face of the abyss, we rise, for our legacy is etched in the obsidian annals of Vespera Mortis. United by the ashes of our brethren, we are the Ashen Angels—our wings aflame with the undying spirit of sacrifice and the fervor of duty. In the fires of battle, we forge our destiny, and with every triumph, we honor the eternal chorus of those who have become one with the ash." — High Seraph Raphael Voss, Chapter Master of the Ashen Angels The Ashen Angels hail from the First Founding Chapter of the Dark Angels, brought from their home world of Vespera Mortis, a death world of obsidian mountains and volcanic, ashen lands. They are well known for their brutal close-combat prowess and their connection with their fallen brothers. Their unknown gene-flaw is that of major importance to the chapter, "The Ashen Echo", which lets the afflicted see the souls and hear the voices of those brothers who have passed. Some are affected more deeply than others, being that Librarians often have psychic overloads from these visions. The chapter and its council are arguably some of the most distinguished and powerful members of the chapter, all under the watchful eye of the High Seraph (Chapter Master) Raphael Voss. But this does not mean that their three captains do not have their respect. Despite being a primary anti-Chaos and anti-Ork Space Marine chapter, they almost suffered the fate of their fallen brothers, being nearly eradicated by the Tyranid menace. Even after much work and eradicating much of the Tyranid hive, to this day the Great Devourer is still being staved off. Their greatness and comradely is greatest exemplified in their High Seraph. The revered Raphael Voss is one of the most storied space marines of the Ashen Angels, being the current wielder of the Ebon Wing. He is as deadly as he is caring, for in times of calm, he and his councilors engage in activities of strategy and often hosts competitions where brothers and sisters compete side by side with the councilors. I'm looking to really go hard on the lion rampant/check patterns/knightly heraldry on knee and shoulder pads for the small Dark Angels force I'm currently building. Does anyone have a really thorough guide of that sort of thing for Dark Angels, or something that would be similarly helpful to reference?

I recently looked into Sons of Medusa as an alternate - non black - paint scheme. Anyway. while I was reading up on them I noticed some inconsistencies. What I know so far is that the Moirae Schism got it's name from the Moerae of greek mythology. The three Fates. Two of the three War Clans are aptly named after these figures as well, Atropos and Lachesis. The third War Clan Mageara however seems to have been named after Megaera, who is one of the three Furies. That seemed odd to me and I was wondering if anybody knew if there is a background reason for that? Aside from that my investigation so far into the three War Clans in terms of iconography also revealed some interesting contradictions. War Clan Mageara The old school, all green except for the white helmet and badge scheme. The Clan symbol is a front facing snake as per the image in the 6th edition Space Marine codex. War Clan Atropos The scheme from Imperial Armor 10, the second Badab War book (This book has all schemes, even the Mageara variant with black trims). Green main color, black trims, white helmet and the chapter badge is black and the negative space is filled white. The Clan symbol is identical to the Iron Hand Clan Atraxii. This had me confused. Is there a story to that? War Clan Lachesis I couldn't find any further information about these guys, except that IA10 says they use silver-steel in their heraldry. Which I imagine means they paint the chapter badge silver instead of white. Is there any further info on the Clan or does anybody have an idea what their symbol might be? In summary I have three big questions Why the inconsistency in naming the War Clans? Why are the Atraxii and Atropos symbols identical? And what does Lachesis' symbol look like?
