I thought I'd share my Chaos army and various WIP things, hopefully to motivate myself to get some more painting done! I have a decent sized Iron Warriors army, as well as a goodly number of Thousand Sons, which I'll get pictures of later. My current projects are a start up Emperor's Children Warband, and a force of The Cleaved. The Cleaved: I made this Plague Marine years and years ago when I had a spare blob of Green Stuff. The armour was a test piece for the new foundations, its straight Dheneb with a heavy devlan wash. He got some nice armour scores, and some weeping joints I abandoned them for a very long time, until the release of the new codex, whereupon I made a couple of plasma gunners to come later. I also have 5 of these guys that will be geting the cleaved treatment. My very first tank, well over 10 years old with an awful splotchy (but thin) nurgle paint job, back when the mark of Nurgle gave your vehicle +1AV all round. Rather than give it to the Iron Warriors, I've honoured it's heritage and dedicated it to the cleaved. The marine on the back was originally an ultramarine, but the blue wouldnt look good with the colour scheme. Green, however would, and seeing as there will probably be a few new DA players soon...and also to annoy Skink a little. The Nurglings on top need some detailing, as well as a few other bits and bobs, but I consider it table worthy after a weekend's work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the new codex, I jumped at the chance to finally get some Slaaneshi marines under my belt. Noise marines with an 80's hair metal vibe. I wanted a full Sonic blaster squad, buy only had one and the blastmaster, so time to make up some stuff: Dude doing a squealy blaster solo, and regular blaster dude. You cant quite see the detail, ut they have hides/skin GS'd onto their leg armour, and regular dude has GW barbed wire wrapped around his thigh. Blastmaster and DeathKorg. You cannot have a band without a synth, so this guy got made up. The idea is that the bolter fires, gets some funky rhythm attached to it as it goes along the barrel, then hits the opponent with some music that they've probably never heard of. Noise Champion: Since squad leaders cannot currently have blasters, and in the hope that they can someday, I made something in between a combi bolter and blaster, the backpack (from the classic NM) and belt amp can also double as a Doom Siren. An Ouroboros, the aspect missing in the Old Four's Tarot. I was there the first time you Died... And I now wonder if that Death would have been a mercy. For in the End, in your true Death. You regretted all. The Father I loved conquered the Father they made you become. The one I helped End. I was there... I was there when Istvaan burned from your Heresy. I was there when the Mournival killed itself. I was there, beside Abaddon when Little Horus killed Tarik. I was there... Their wants and desires swirl and coalesce. It pours into me, grafting me with a new name... I was there for all of it... Seven long years of war, the prelude to the Long War. Trillions lives lost, Trillions new Neverborn to fight it. The End of a Dream, the beginning of a Nightmare. The Age of Darkness to birth the Far Future. The Death of the Imperium, for there will only be War. I was there, in Remembrance. I was there in their struggles. I was there when Mersadie Oliton drew her last. Thinking of that pict of the Monster... and the one of Me. I was there when Euphrati Keeler lost and found her Faith, the Blade for the ages to come. I was there for every lecture of Kyril Sindermann. Who thought me the truth of the Warp. I was the man beside them, in the beginning. I was there, a Vengeful Spirit aboard the flagship, as the galaxy burned. I was there, the only name I could hear. I was there beside me. I was all around me. Always. I was... I was there this day, when the Emperor slew Horus.

Ft. Shattered Legions and Blackshields.

A little corner of B&C to discuss this release in all it's varied formats by Mr Thorpe. Those looking forward to this release may find this new blog post from Gav quite interesting, always nice to get an authors insight into what influences they drew upon when penning a story. There was also a great tweet from Gav to ADB back in Jan which made me smile on the sheer level of detail he's going into with this book. Consider me quietly excited for this one!

Over the last few weeks I have been listening to the After Ullanor podcast [which reviews the HH books and is hosted on the Freebooters Network] and one of the things I have taken away is just how much background information there seems to be in the Forge World books. As an aside, they're good reviews and have refreshed my memory of books read eons ago, much to my enjoyment! This has lead me to thinking, are the FW books essential reading to get the fullest flavour of the BL HH series? My knowledge of the HH stems from the Index Astartes articles from White Dwarf however these only briefly referred to 30k history. Therefore I have loved this series for exploring events only briefly touched on when I first encountered them but it seems to me that there is now so much out there that is not available to someone who only reads BL products. Supplementary to this, is anyone aware of if/when the FW books will be brought out?

Well folks it looks like Amazon has the Title & Synopsis up for Guy Haley's entry to the Siege of Terra!
