Hey everyone, welcome to my hobby thread! For more regular updates check out my Instagram account @raptorimperialis I've recently been feeling the urge to start a new 40K project. After much musing and many false starts, i've decided on the Thousand Sons, Pre-heresy. They aren't my favourite legion or chapter but the TS have always be a legion full of character, imagery and conversion opportunities. A perfect combination in my opinion. This project has been at least two years in the planning process. It all started when i converted a PH TS sorcerer for a conversion competition at my local GW (which i was lucky enough to win). After building the Sorcerer i knew i had to make some more TS, they are just so fun and different. Unfortunately it has taken me over two years to finally get here. The Sorcerer who started it all. He is a relatively simple kit bash with minimal GS work. I took inspiration from the Thousand Sons art in 'Collected Vissions', especially that of Ahriman and Uthizarr. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/photo-3.jpg The test mini. I can't decide whether to give all the terminators these crests or just keep them for the squad leaders. I plan on adding some Sisters of Silence and maybe even some Custodes at a later stage. I'm certainly feeling the necessary inspiration at the moment. As the title says! Are you in the process of, or planning to get any new units ready for your Sons of Magnus for 10th edition? Getting them ready to use from the start, or waiting to see what th datacards look like? My 2023 goals include Magnus the Red, so I'm hoping the datacards do him justice, I'll be breaking that box open soon!

Very new to 40k so please excuse me if this seem's an incredibly noobish question but I'm putting together my first Son's list and I'm pondering what armour to include, or if I should include it at all. The Hellforged Predator seem's a bit beastly in comparison with the Imperium's version but that D6 wound on explosion seem's a bit of a double edged sword for the Son's. But I noticed that the list also includes Hellforged Sicarans, which while pricier do seem to have a bit more bang for their buck. Also given our deep strike and teleport capabilities are Rhinos a good investment? I've been reading a bit of lore on the dusty one's and it turns out they loved Xiphon Interceptors, I quite like the idea of getting one purely from a narrative perspective, but on looking at their stat's they actually seem to be able to do a tasty bit of damage to enemy armour. Or are the Son's psychic gifts the best way to deal with enemy vehicles? As stated I'm very new to 40K and the Son's will be my first army so any help will be massively appreciated.

++Thousand Sons Unit of the Week++ ++Chaos Contemptor Dreadnought++ New codex, new discussions about units! As we already have in other faction sections, this is the Thousand Sons Unit of the Week series, where each week we select and dissect a datasheet found in the book, and discuss how we use the unit in-game, favoured loadouts and combos, essentially how to use these units best. What have you found that works, and what doesnt? Please try to stick to the idea of making the unit in question work, as opposed to pointing out other units that might do a better job - we'll get to those in time! This week, we will be discussing the mainstay of many tournament lists for the past year, the contemptor dreadnought. We mainly saw this with dual volkite culverins, but how would you use yours? What are you thoughts, and how best would you use the unit? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Will you be running multiples? What <GREAT CULT>, loadouts, spell relic and Stratagem support do you prefer and how much does it depend on the above choices? Are you buffing this unit, and if so, how? This week, we will be discussing the newest unit in the codex, the Infernal Master - sorcerers that make dark pacts with daemons, summoning them in battle to harass their enemies, support their allies and tell them of events yet to happen, these guys have some serious potential in game. As we already have in other faction sections, this is the Thousand Sons Unit of the Week series, where each week we select and dissect a datasheet found in the book, and discuss how we use the unit in-game, favoured loadouts and combos, essentially how to use these units best. What have you found that works, and what doesnt? This week, we will be discussing the former key unit for most Chaos Builds, Tzaangors. Formerly a mainstay of lists for their numbers, killing power in melee and speed, we don't see them on the table at all now. We've gone from 30 strong fight again blobs of blue goats to nothing - is that because they got worse, other options got better, or both? How would you use Tzaangors in your lists? What are you thoughts, and how best would you use the unit? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Will you be running multiples?
