Also, what brand or type of micron pen do you use?

I used the tan/grey Sakura Pigma Archival Ink line in .005 (0.2mm) for years but gave Nano-Liner a try last time, the nib didn't hold up as well. Trying the black Sakura ones this time, which are apparently a different form of ink. We'll see how it goes.

Okay, the all important question!

Iron Halo, or no Iron Halo?

I'm leaning to leaving it off, since it kind of disappears against the other yellow, and since he's wearing a helmet the visual need for it is kind of removed.

Consensus across a number of sources has been to try a silver/gunmetal halo first, which I shall be doing this evening.

Stay tuned, brothers!

Sidenote - Thinking of giving my 40k Chapter Master the spare shield from 30K Pollux instead of a storm bolter. Yay or nay?

Cheers!

Ta-Da!

The shield comes from a mis-cast Pollux I had where evidently a huge lack of detail resulted for some reason, as well as REALLY light resin. Called FW with the batch number from the box (I bought in the store in Lenton while in the UK, didn't keep the receipt, etc.) and got new one lickity split, but yeah - this dude gets the benefits.

Looks really cool. The sword from some Sanguinary Guard also fits the look I was going for perfectly.

I want him to have a cooler base though...

I think I've settled on using Vulkan's base for the Chapter Master, as his removable portion appears to be the right size. I'll just keep an eye out on eBay for someone who based him differently. Or I might buy him and sell just his body. Wife just quit her job without a new one lined up (right decision, better than her complaining for six hours when she gets home every day, etc.) so perhaps he'll have to wait.

Anyway - I'll be off to San Francisco for GDC this week (as an exhibitor) so I figured now was a good time to take some proper pictures of Sigismund finished. I'm so happy with virtually everything about this, and I was kind of annoyed with it while doing it. It serves as a great reminder that no matter how something looks in the WIP phase, you just have to wait for the pieces to come together.

The sword detail - This was super frustrating to paint. The shallow detail on many of Forge World's pieces are just... Infuriating. Got it in the end though.

Looks great! That yellow, dude. It looks fantastic.

Although is it me or does the sicaran base take soemthing away from the physical logic of the flow of his tabard? Pehraps it's the angle. Also: I just noticed the wording on the black sword. Interestingly garro's sword also says Imperator Rex. Is that because of some flufy reason or are the FW designers just lacking imagination? ;)

Thanks! I'm planning on using Vulkan's base for him, but I need to actually pull the trigger on ordering a character just for a base...

Anyway.

Back from GDC - Back to the grindstone.

I rescued this from a large, large pile of stuff I was given when a friend left the hobby, so excuse the bent barrel. Some good stuff. The jump pack chaplain was also part of this haul. I'd normally not have it nearly half this assembled during painting, but it is what it is.

Done!

I ended up changing the turret to an all black version because for whatever reason I could not get anything to stick to the yellow paint on it. Can't figure out why. No other issues with the rest of the model. I think it really worked out. Cool looking result for sure.

It's come to my attention that Annihilators can't be used in 30K, so oh well. I may order some turret parts from eBay and give it a magna melta.

I still hate painting vehicles. I have a Storm Raven for my Fists as well, unassembled, including the "true scale" Chapterhouse expansion bit. I'm weighing including it in my Fists, or giving it to my Night Lords. Currently neither one has any flyers attached.

Hey buddy! The tank looks great! I really like the colour scheme - would it be possible to make a picture of it with a light to the front and not to the back (as currently the vehicle is either in shadow or overexposed). I'm not sure what you mean with your sticking problems: do you mean transfers or glue? If the first, berhaps coating it in gloss varnish, putting the transfers on, and then covering it with matte will do the trick?

I was not aware that annihilators cannot be used in 40k. Now that you mention it: I remember the anniilator being  35k adaptation of the predator STC. RATS! I build 3 anihilators last year just to use them in both systems... Oh well. lolz

Doesn't stop it from being a gorgeous-looking vehicle! I love the black sections; they really help break up the yellow. Great stuff!
