Heathens, i'm lmao at your attempt to get the Malevolents to hasitate on boarding your heretic craft. :)

 My Boys are still rolling around the floor at Heathens threat....who said Marines aint got a sense of humour!!!

1000Heathens WOW don't really know what more I can say than WOW that Dread is amazing!!!! :)

As for the Blood Gorgons what an enlightened and unsual pick I like your thinking although can't say I'm surprised you've turned your back on the Emperor.......Burn the Heretic and the Traitor

So when's the Dread going to be finished? and when can we expect to see him painted?

What's the next Rhino an old version like you're first or something else?

Loved the last squad as well the chevron markings were great! Just a note of caution and my two pennies worth (or should that be cents) I wonder if maybe you need to tone the rust and chipped paint down a little bit to help keep continuity of the colour scheme......I mean I absolutely love what you're doing and seriously your painting skills are so much better than I could ever hope mine would be but I just worry that colour scheme might not come through as much as it should.....I don't know I'm conflicted as I love what you've done!!

Finally quick request any chance of a group shot of the two squads and the rhino you've done? Oh and what happened to the scout squad?

Sorry about the delay in the claw tutorial, the internet has been up and down for a couple days. I wish I'd taken pics as I put this together, but it is pretty straight forward. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to PM me, and I'll help as much as I can. Here's the parts list...

1x Dread CCW Arm, including ugly stubby fingers

1x CSM Terminator Lightning claw (left or right hand, you're chopping off the fingers anyway)

1x Dread shin plate (I used one from the DA sprue)

1x banner pole from the SM bikes set, or the antenna from the stormlord (either works)

Cut and file the stub on the Dread CCW where the hand is usually glued to the wrist, until flush. Then take your Lightning claw, cut off the fingers and thumb claws. Shave a divot into the top of the lightning claw where the fingers were (including where you want the thumb), the width and depth of half of the antenna/banner. Cut the Dread stub fingers at the first knuckle, and shave a divot just like the lightning claws into the bottom of the fingers (you will lose some skin, but it's worth it). Now take the bare LC gauntlet, and cut it where the gauntlet meets the arm (see above pics). Angle the cut how you'd like, I cut mine at an angle to give the claw that curled inward 'freddy kreuger' look. Glue the gauntlet to the Dread CCW where the hand should be. Now cut a length of the banner pole to fit the divots for the fingers and thumb, and glue them into place. Take the stub fingers, and glue them onto the poles/knuckle actuators; three across and one for the thumb. Take the fingers from the lightning claws, seperate them from each other (very delicatley!!), and file/shave the blades until clean. Cut the blade knuckles at the angle you'd like...just remember, the angle will determine the look of the claw. Glue them into place. Finally, take the Dread shin plate and shave a good couple of centimeters off the plate, until you're happy with the look. Glue that sucker into place atop the back of the LC gauntlet, and Voila!!! Go gut some Heretics, gentlemen!

Arch-Bibliosoph Aiakos, Master of the IV Crusade Librarium....ready for some paint finally!!

And for those days that there is a ridiculous rash of armour on the field...a multi-melta too...

A close up of the MM Librarium symbol. I figured a chapter that a hardline chapter that doesn't use psychics and abhors mutations would not use a horned skull for their librarium, so a crossed quill and sword instead...

I know my green stuff technique needs work, but I gotta start somewhere, and I'm pretty proud on how it came out.

@The Chaos Haters: Alright, let's squash this, gentlemen. My Marines Malevolent need some one to fight, a polar opposite of their creed and beliefs. The Blood Gorgons are the yin to the Malevolent's yang. My orks are getting a bit boring. So live with it...

@Varen: I'll try to get some more fluff up on the Phalanx either today or tomorrow. Time's short for me now with physical therapy and being husband / daddy. I haven't forgotten yet brother, and I'm still running a ton of ideas around in my head. And yes, the extermination of a renegade company of Flesh Eaters is going to play a pivtal point in the IV Crusade's history. I'm starting to get the feel that my Crusade reaaaally enjoys exterminating Chapters that have gone too far, or have become mutated / genetically unstable as hell.

@Bolt16:The next rhino is gonna be a current one, the one after that will be a cross between the two, to give that 'battlefield salvage' feel to the army. I'm using certain guidelines for the rust and chipping, and trying very hard to avoid making it too excessive. I'll keep an eye on it though, brother, thanks for the constructive critisism. I'm holding off on a group shot until the dread and rhino are complete.

@everyone: Thanks for all your comments guys! I'll be back soon...

Wow... Just wow man... That is an amazing dreadnought man... I honestly can't find a single flaw in him, except perhaps meld the wings in with the dreadnought arms alittle better brother.

Just my two copper skulls.

That dread is just... holy damn. There's so many awesome aspects of that just begging to be stolen, I can't even wrap my head around it all. That's probably one of the best conversions of that old chaos dread I've ever seen, chaos or loyalist or anything else.
Very nice man .. you can see all the thought you put into it before you started. All the additions looks awesome. I agree with the above and would use a little green stuff on the wings on the arms. Just blend the front in a little bit more. But I do remember you saying you wanted it look like they mixed and matched some parts so that does add to that. Again, nice work.
Have you ever built something so awesome, you were actually kinda scared of it? :P Can you sleep in the same room as that thing? Or do you lock it in a trunk...with a brick on top...buried in the back yard...

Wow hahah, high praise indeed :D

But yeah awesome-looking dreadnought man! I can't wait to get started on mine! This will serve as great inspiration indeed!

  • 2 weeks later...

-sigh- Sadly, I read all of your guy's comments about blending the wings after I'd already basecoated this beast...ah well, lesson learned. Anyhow, may I present to you, all finished, Arch-Bibliosoph Aiakos, Master of the IV Crusade Athenaeum of the Marines Malevolent.

Sorry about the shoddy pics, still trying to master this new eye-scalding lamp with my camera. Just 2nd squad's Rhino to go, and my LPC vow will be complete...

Thanks for all the comments, guys!!!

It's aight.

Nah it's freakin' awesome, you know it :( Really good looking dread you got there boy, but you'll see, mine will put yours to shame! (oh crap I have to follow up on that claim don't I?) <_<

Any particular thought go into the colours of the Marines' helmets?

gallery_37532_5399_2147871.png

"And lo, the most Malevolent of all, Arch-Bibliosoph Aiakos, the eternal hater, would punish his most notorious enemies to an ignoble fate as his mighty sarcophagus's stand-in family jewels..."

Excellent work man. Nice to see that hideous old Chaos dread given a fresh chance at life...and as a loyalist, no less. :tu: I'm not entirely sold on the base now that I give it a good looking at though. Those bags are very, very green (thought they were bagpipes for a moment) and the rubble is strangely uniform. It might not hurt to sprinkle a little fine sand into a few small patches and blend it out a bit more.
