Yeah, the Fire Raptor is very tempting. If I didn't already have a pair of the normal Heldrake models, I'd be tempted to convert up one of the Marine flyers and use it as a counts as. Perhaps a Storm Talon with dangling hooks and chains?

Dragonlover

I actually hate the aesthetics of the Storm Talon, the thing looks absurd. Fire Raptor and Storm Eagle however are awesome.

Your NL are the madness !

Thanks man! Love your Heresy era guys!

Everything looks good so far, Heinrich! I like the look of the Bikers, and the LR looks brutal! Great work! :biggrin.:

As far as the Heldrake is concerned, why not convert it to look more like a Hell Talon fighter-bomber than a flying dragon of death and destruction? It's a popular choice for the kit, and one I'd want to try myself, if I had the funds. Plus, it links in well with the Night Lords' methods of warfare.

I may yet do that, I've got the parts just haven't figured out a good way to pull it off.

Things are looking as spectacular as ever. For the rhino links, have you seen Subtle Discord's track links that he should be selling soon?

Yeah those look really nice and I may end up grabbing some of those for the second Rhino.

Regarding those bikes, you don't even need to go the full hog: Just tilt them a tad to the side, and it will instantly seem like the driver is leaning into the curve (or, alternately, into the punch he is just about to deliver). It can be as subtle or as spectacular as you want it to be.

As for the Heldrake, I think a slightly organic beast does fit their "hunter" feeling, although they are usually less mutated than some of the other traitor legions. Maybe you'll find Morf's "Hellbat" inspirational. I think it's a great idea for a NL army. I'll also link to my own "Hellrazor", while I'm at it, if you'll excuse the shameless plug

Yeah I'm gonna play around with biker poses tonight. I like both of those Heldrake conversions too. Part of my decision in not making one is that I don't want to go full a-hole on my friendly gaming group, so far we all play armies that are composed largely of models we like so I'd rather not start a competitive trend in the game. We'll see though.

Fire Raptors yes yes yes! Awesome model, fantastic rules and 100% more fluffy than a heldrake (for 90% of the VIII Legion at least, there are those who.....dabble)

Yeah the rules look awesome without being full Heldrake OP.

Love those bikers brother! In particular the blades are very pleasing to the eye!

Thanks man!

Superb dose of awesomnes there with .. well all of the new sweet stuff! :biggrin.:

Im also allot interested in what gruesomness you will aplye to the Landraider ther too after them sweet tormented rhino victims

I'll do my best to paint a brutal masterpiece man ;)

Awesome team !

Thanks man!

So, will we get to seethe backgrounds everyone submitted?

Yep, I write the fluff with the completed models.

I'm working on a story for mine and Dan's cell. Can't speak for the rest of these murdering bastards... :tongue.:

Amazing job, Heinrich. I wish I had the greenstuff skills you have.

Thanks man, looking forward to your fluff brother, I'll just post your fluff as you write it with your guys' team if thats cool. All credit due and what not.

1mm Micro beads, you can find 'em on Ebay pretty easy. I just use a pin drill and drill out shallow holes then pick them up with some blue tac on the end of a sculpting tool, dip them in some glue and stick 'em in the holes. As far as the fluff goes it'd be awesome   (and fitting) if you set it in the campaign we're doing. The first world is called Volusia and it's a Marines Exemplar recruitment world, it's a jungle death-world similar to Catachan.

I'm lost in the sauce, man. Who's 'we', and is there further info somewhere so I can study up?

Glad I only just started, I was writing it in a ruined hive city...   :tongue.:

Haha sorry, me and my local group are running a campaign this fall/winter called the Caedon offensive. It takes place in the Caedon Belt, a star formation bordering the Eye of Terror during the 13th Black Crusade. The Night Lords and Word Bearers have been dispatched to the system to cause as much damage as possible in order to pull forces away from the Imperial counter-thrust aimed at Abbadon and Cadia. There are five key worlds in the sector:

- Volusia: Jungle Death-World and Marines Exemplar recruitment planet

- Gratican IX: Desert mining world

- Mordax Prime: Ice World laced with promethium deposits

- Bergos IV: Hive World

- Lorian Secundus: Shrine World

The defenders will be the Marines Exemplar, Doom Eagles, and Eldar. Let me know if you need any more info brother.

No, sir. You're the damn Officer here; act like it and tell me where to set up shop!

You're new to this, aren't you?  :tongue.:

EDIT: Seriously though, wherever you want the story, man. I'll work from there.

Hey man I work for a living, no shine on my collar ;) As far as the story I'm starting them all out on Volusia. I'll add fluff as the campaign progresses along.

Hmm, the flame thrower is coming right out of the ammo box...doesn't make sense to me, sorry. But the rest is a cool model.

Happy?

Those are the best Rhinos I have ever seen. I can't even fathom how you've had the time to do all this so quickly. Hashec and the heavy weapon teams look great, as do the bikers. Those chainglaives though... man, I've been planning to do that since I saw the new Raptors and now I have to steal the idea BACK. At least now I KNOW it looks great. :laugh.:

Well most of the entries have been steadily worked on construction-wise throughout the project, I wish I could just whip out 3 vehicles and 5 bikes in a matter of hours lol. As for painting, an airbrush makes all the difference as base-coating vehicles is my least favorite thing in this hobby. Speaking of which...

Rhino #1: Update II

Rhino #1 update number 2 for my call of Chaos vows, got the base-coat done really fast this afternoon and am going to start work on the metallic bits and washes. Hopefully have this guy knocked out quickly.

The Rhino looks good so far, Brother! What chapter are you thinking of using for the poor sap bolted to the front of it?

Also, on a slight aesthetic note, shouldn't the marine be a bit more of a bulletsponge than he is at the moment? Or are you running with the idea that he's a recent addition?

Looking forward to see our flayed friend painted, especially the flesh.

I'm excited to paint him as well, should be suitably gruesome and bloody.

The rhino is awesome. I've seen your work on the flayed victim before and he looks amazing. Can't wait to see the whole thing painted up

Thanks man, cranking through the highlights at the moment :)

I'm thinking he'll either be a Doom Eagle or a Marines Exemplar seeing as those are both the loyalist armies I fight against here. As far as the guy goes you are correct in your assumption that he's a recent addition, hence the grimace of pain and all that.

Wow awesome stuff in this thread. They are obliterators, right? the team with the plasma cannon could use another weapon, maybe a missile launcher strapped to the spotter's back.

Thanks man, I don't want to add any more heavy weapons as that'll start to get into the realm of ridiculous. I prefer to just think that they have bizarre weapons that have multiple fire modes that can imitate the different firepower available to obliterators. I may add specialist weapons to the spotters just so they cover the close up work while the gunners handle ranged targets.

I really love the flayed marine on the Rhino. Really grim dark, looking forward to seeing it done.

Thanks man, trying to finish the vehicles fast, highlighting is a pain though.

That Heavy Flamebolter is just the peak of Humanity's military achievements. Love the alternative to Obliterators, which never really were to my liking.

Lol, totally using that Greyall, "UNLEASH THE HEAVY FLAMEBOLTER"
