I guess our rumours will pick up after the 'nids are released, as things seem quiet.

I wonder if, what with them being unchanged in C:=][=, our Valkyries will remain unchanged, points-wise at least (or perhaps we'll just lose the ability to take squadrons of them).

But... but... if they remove squadrons from IG, where do we make up for it?

As Imperial Guardsmen, we're known for overwhelming firepower! If they take away squadrons, where will it come from? Ratlings?

Ratling Swarms: 24 points.  1 Ratling Marksmidget (Ld 7), 2 Ratlings.  Weapons: Sniper Rifle.  Options: May add up to 97 additional Ratlings at 8 points each.

In case you have seen the latest Steel Legion picture don't get too excited. Maybe I'm getting too long in the tooth or victim to rose tinted glasses but I'm sure the fake rumour mongers used to be a lot better? Or maybe it's more like the people with the real photoshop talent know it's a huge waste of time just to fool a few people...

I saw those. people can get into fits over these Rumors. They are Steel Legion mini's Just tweaked. Nothing new.

This morning I was reading that GW is going to produce more push together miniatures for troops and that it supposedly includes some resculpted Steel Legion. I know Cadians have some already. Could be good as long as they don't get rid of their other kits once these are in. ( Again it's all a big if, they are really doing it.)

Agreed, I'd love for updated Catachans. Not that I collect them (I'd like some of the bits though) but they and the players collecting them have been shamefully neglected too long!

The rumourings should be getting some more fuel soon, if you spot anything keep us posted - I've noticed we're a bit slow to filter rumours to our esteemed board so we need to mobilise the voxes a bit faster msn-wink.gif

I think if it were me, I would remove Catachans from the guard.  However, I would replace them with a new easy to produce IG regiment and more or less push the chatachans on Special order.  While the new regiment was being sold I would use this time to rebuild the Catachans and the cadians. GW uses a thing they have called Digital Clay.  I guess it's like a cad program for miniatures.  Using that plus what they already produce adding a few bitz and even creating a few snaptogethers could easily, say in less then a few years bring the Catachans back as well as allowing for a few more kit bashed regiments. Really I surprises me that they having worked up a bunch of files full of regiments and then just had a vote. Get the gamers involved to vote for regiments miniature to replace the regiments they seem to be phasing out. " Here are 10 to 15 choices, could be less and we will produce the top 3 as new IG.

I clearly don't know how the "legal stuff" would work on that but it could be good.

I agree with uberwolf, this would be a better way to work this, and that catachans are looking a bit long in the tooth, Ramboish,Chuck Norris, first bloodish.  I don't think the cadians need a reboot, but the Praetorian's, the Mordian's the Valhallen's ,or Tallarn, could use a reboot in plastics. Let us not forget Rough Rider's, the Attilan's. The best would be a release in push fits in these older regiments, while they work on re-releaseing the old regiments in plastics.

Well looking at the recent codex releases and the new kits that are coming out with them. Of the 6 to 8 kits to be released with the IG codex what do you think they will be?

Here are a few of my guesses.

1. Plastic vets/stormtroopers combi kit.

2. New plastic artillery kit basilisk/madusa

3. New plastic artillery kit griffon/colossus

4. New plastic hydra kit

5. plastic ogrins

6. plastic rough riders

7. New unknown unit

8. New unknown unit

It seems (I read on Faeit 212 and then checked the GE site) that the Basilisk is now available for online order only. I really hope we do get a two or three-in-one artillery kit. I'm saving my pennies yen for at least a couple of artillery pieces and a box or two or storm troopers.
due too hull similarities i believe a griffon/salamander kit is more logical. as it is i don't really see any tank the collossus tank could joing up with kit wise, bar perhaps a tank destroyer, thereby creating 3 leman russ based boxes (standard, siege, colossus/tank destroyer). on the other hand that wishlist would mean taking away yet two more tanks from forgeworld.

I am like wise hopeing for a arty kit and vet / stormtrooper kit .I realy want some new plastic rough riders there is a rumor abot the valk /vend becoming 1 thing over on bols and a new flyer /dogfighter to fit in the slot ,

now my bane blade is in "throne of terror" im not to fused about big tank kit though and I think if they did praetorians in plastic id explode in a big ball of shiney imperial goo and maybe calm down in time for 12th edition ...oh wait pretorian rough riders mmmmmm

Combined kits make sense, I'd go Griffon and Salamander as the obvious like hendrik said but I reckon you could get another piece in there or two. GW's recent modelling escapades have been very good so I don't think it's unreasonable :P

Plastic Ogryns would be great as the only thing stopping me from getting some the how expensive they are but somehow that makes me think it won't happen? Keep your recon units in the field comrades, some information must leak soon...

Latest rumours?

I hear something along the lines of a new name, consolidation of some units (i.e Valkyries have a "vendetta loadout" now, similar to the Predator Destructors having an Annihilator load out), removal of some unit entries that don't have models currently, removal of anything that non-Cadian, etc.

Basically nothing positive. What am I missing?

I ignored the name change on account of it being rather silly. Space Marines are not "Adeptus Astartes" on their codex, and the Guard have never been called anything other than "Imperial Guard"! Even if it is true it doesn't really change anything, it's the rules/models/etc we really care about and everyone will keep calling us the Guard anyway ;)

Otherwise no, nothing in particular is new but it's all early days still. Though I did just get a nice email from FW with a Legion Medusa that looked rather good. Not that it means anything directly of course, but still nice to see!

I just don't know about plastic storm troopers myself. I'd be pleasantly surprised, but surprised nonetheless, if they were released in plastic. Rumours of plastic storm troopers have been around as long as I've been in the hobby (circa 1999) and never seems to happen (sort of like plastic sisters of battle).

Trying not to wish list, I'm afraid plastic mordians/praetorians probably aren't in the cards either. Maybe I'm getting too cynical but observing current trends I'm fearful of some new units no one really asked for (a la centurions -- who I actually think look okay in fairness but just seem an odd addition). Guardsmen in some sort of Eco suit?

Thank the Emperor I discovered the DKOK Assault Brigade so nothing they do with the new codex can harm my army. And if it's all improvements I can use IG instead of DKOK (although it's doubtful they'll make rough riders as awesome as the death riders).

Aside from new infantry boxes that may or may not happen any additions to Guard have got to be tanks/artillery. It's what we do, adding anything else would be silly and breaking the theme. Guard has always been the little guys with the big guns and tanks and the closest we have to a "modern" military so I'd rather that not change.

When it comes to rumours there's the "big three":

- plastic Thunderhawk

- plastic Stormtroopers

- Squats

Whenever you hear one of these your first reaction should be to cover the source in as much salt as possible - ideally until all moistures has left their body. Then set fire to them to be sure. In the unlikely event they were right you can write an apology letter :P

Latest rumours talk about an Ogryn/Bullgryn dual box set:

Follow up rumour

And yes, a confirmed new name.

*faceplam*

I don't necessarily object to Astra Militarum as a name, but do feel it may be needlessly complex for people entering the hobby. It'd be like refering to the Space Marines as Adeptus Astartes constantly - and as a force of habit... hard to!

Ok I have one major concern for the new codex, I am hoping that they keep supporting the Vostroyans.

I'm a huge fan of them and have recently started an army of them (which I really should get around to posting tongue.png) and so if they introduce a new traits system for the regiments like they did for the marine codex then I hope that they give them some unique stuff like expressing their ties with the AdMech and such.

Either way I really hope that they add the thunderbolt or some sort of dedicated air support that doesn't have a transport capacity for the pure fluffy reason of calling in close range airstrikes and such laugh.png
