Oh no, not saying this was plagiarism. Rather, the reverse - now my Chaos Lord looks like a poorly done knock-off of the Forge World figure, even though it pre-dates that figure by uhh, approximately a geologic age. Theirs looks much better :|

I guess I could always get the new Konrad Curze for a Chaos Lord, and relegate my current CL to aspiring champion status of my termie squad, or something... even though he's way too huge to be a mere aspiring champion. Just about dreadnought-sized.

^^ Yep, that looks to be the way all the primarchs are set up now, so you can have that display base, whether singular or in the mini diorama with their arch nemesis!

I will not even lie, I would be super lazy and never paint the giant extra part of the display base for Kurze... those bodies would prolly end up on a contemptor somewhere :D

Sorry to break away from the Curze topic (which is awesome) but I was wondering if you all could help me out.

I want to get back into reading some fluff and I want to read about the Night Lords during the heresy. I was wondering what books/short stories are out there and in which order they come in. I've been in and out with the literature. The last book I bought was Angels Exterminatus and even then I hadn't bought a book for some time before that. I also think having a compendium of the books would be a great addition to this thread as well.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately we haven't had a full length HH novel yet, but the novella "Prince of Crows" is the perfect starting point for anyone curious about heresy-era 8th legion.

**EDIT** Dammit, Tarvick, you ninja :P

There are also the very short/audio Dark King and The Lightning Tower

Which sets the commonly understood stage for the Night Lords/Curze.

EDIT: Correction on The Lightning Tower.

HH Night Lords pretty much breakdown into:

The Dark King - Audio

Savage Weapons (Dark Angels mainly but Night Lords have a good showing)

Prince of Crows

The Long Night - Audio

ADB stated before that a full length novel, Nightfall, will be around at some point. as for where/when, no idea.

........

Luther is building the 5th battalion. I'm updating whats been lost over the years on the other 4 battalions. Were still working on a format for armoury, BFG components and The titan Legio/mechanicus Support. I know Chapters usually only have 2 battalions but Chyld has kept those of a like mind close and brought others into the Red Night since the hersey. I know most Night Lord formations didnt use standard Imperial grouping either but it shows The Herald's (lord Commanders) mind set compared to some of the other legion. Also the fluff were writing is the "Original Members" of Expiditionary Fleet 814 wasnt at Istvann V. Both Legions Know their Primarchs sided with Horus. and explains what happened to those That didnt walk the line set before them. soon as we get more ready we plan on doing a blog. any suggestions?

So folks decided to sing while working today and so I sang along. But then they told me to shut up, because they didn't like the lyrics:

I've been murdering innocents,

all the live long day.

I've been murdering innocents,

to keep boredom at bay.

Can't you hear civilians screaming,

begging for their lives uselessly?

Can't you hear prisoners shouting:

"No please don't kill me!"?

I just don't know what went wrong.

And they reckon that there is no more romance in the galaxy these days, huh?

(I just love it when people talk dirty here!)

Sorry to double post here guys and gals.

I was wondering if any of you have or know of a good painting tutorial for painting pale Nostraman skin.

Please post a link in response. :tu: If it's good, perhaps we can post it in the first post as a tut next to my Flayed skin one?

Hail Night Lords! As my current dark eldar project starts to see light at the end of the tunnel I am starting to shift focus on the future and my next army. I have long wanted to stand in midnight clad with my brothers of the VIII and I am thinking that time has finally come. Been reading the ADB trilogy lately and Soul Hunter has given me an idea to combo my desire for a night lords army with another long desire...a drop pod army. Wrapping this entire thought process together in a neat little human-skin bow is the idea of running said army as an uncorrupted, non-forge world force using the new Blood Angel book for rules.

That is where my question to all of you comes in. Do you think the Blood Angels could make a suitable drop pod based rule system for the 8th legion? Adding things like masks to sanguinary guard for fear seems very fitting when modeled as elite jump infantry, maybe some dreads, small fast assault units from pods, and some strong characters to back it all up.

Cheers in advance!

Welcome Amornar!

Don't mind the dead folks and skinned things everywhere. Normally we get a chance to neaten up first :D

Anywho, the Blood Angels have long been a way for us midnight faithful to better represent our legion on the table within 40k. So especially with the new book, I'd say "hell yeah, go for it." It's a tradition anyway!

Let us know if you have any questions on getting started anywhere, and if/when you decide on a company number, sobriquet, commander or any other fun bits.

Company Doctrine

In a typical compliance, company doctrine calls for the deployment of Fourth Centuries, Thirty First and Thirty Second Claws Reconnaissance Squads via drop pod.

After initial reconnaissance, First Cohorts Second Century will make landfall and eliminate targets of opportunity in order to spread panic. These would be primarily soft targets in order to prevent damage to essential infrastructure whilst ensuring maximum pressure on governmental departments to ensure regime change.

If this first strike is insufficient then the Company will deploy both the First and Third Centuries in full by drop pod striking at the heart of the planetary government, planetary media and planetary defence forces; this time there will be no attempt to prevent damage to infrastructure the Fourth Century will provide legionnaires and heavy equipment where required at the discretion of the Company Praetor or Senior Centurions.

Grand Company Organisation and Establishment

The 106th Grand Company draws its main combat strength from Nostramo although the majority of the senior command cadre and several of the veteran squads are still of Terran stock.

As evidenced above each Grand Company is made up of a senior command squad and Four Centuries split between Two Cohorts. The Cohorts are led by the Senior Centurion of each Cohort.

As with the majority of Nostraman Companies, each claw has an established strength of eight members although on campaign it is not unusual to see the actual strengths two thirds of establishment. However before any major compliance it is commonplace for Praetors to request additional legionnaires from Nostramo boosting the established strength of each claw to twelve to sixteen members this allows for a higher rate of attrition than most legions organised along similar lines would face.

@Amornar: Welcome to the 8th Brother! You have given me an awesome idea. I have long detested that chaos doesn;t have drop pods and you've just given me a way to. I seriously never thought about/heard of/considered proxying codices.

@Corsovitt: gosh that's awesome. We should all do an inventory list and census for our companies.
