Needs more War Griffons

(I still love the Mortis titans :biggrin.:)

Hehe thanks - and no worries, I'll soonish return to Legio Gryphonicus. After finishing the three Warlords I need to paint up my Gellerpox Mutants for Call of Chaos, but after that I want to tackle two Reavers and Warhounds for the War Griffons!

The Legio Mortis

Title: The Legio Mortis Ordo Titanicus

Militaris Grade: Primus (Triad Ferrum Morgulus)

Patent: Pre-Unification, Marsian Mechanicum

Warden Domain: Mars and Retlaxi (secondary Forge World)

Slave War House: Morbidia

Allegiance: Traitoris Perdita

The name of the Legio Mortis was feared and distrusted by many within the Imperium long before the betrayal and horror of the Horus Heresy was to unfold. Originating in the pre-Imperial Age of Strife the Legio Mortis was, according to the legends of the Martian Lexmechanics, one of the "Triad Ferrum Morgulus" -- the three originating Titan Legions created by the besieged Cult Mechanicum during the bloody wars to take back the Red Planet from the degenerate hordes of Cy-Carnivora and mutant scavers that had overwhelmed Mars after the fall of the first human interstellar civilisation. As was recorded in the iconography of their seal, the purpose of their creation was two-fold: firstly, to stand sentinel at the gates of the Fabricator-General's domain as tireless guardians, and second, the annihilation of all life that would threaten the Machine Cult. As such, the Legio Mortis served as both sentry and exterminator. Grim, dour and secretive, the Legion had gained a dark repute during the conquest of Mars as merciless and sinister that would only grow as the centuries passed, and it is now lost in time whether they gained their common name, "Death's Heads," from their iconography, the ritual onyx skull masks and sable robes their Princeps wore, or their long practice of arraying the skeletal remains of those they had slain across the armoured pediments of their war machines as trophies.

Bound they were by rite and tradition in personal loyalty to the office of the Fabricator-General of Mars, and many times were they used both against his enemies in war (for Mars was not truly pacified until the coming of the Emperor), and as a weapon to maintain his authority among the Fabricator-General's own and punish recalcitrant Magi and even other Titan Legions when needed. This history garnered them few friends or allies and their long standing rivalry with their fellow members of the Triad Ferrum Morgulus, most notably the Legio Ignatum, and their contempt for the "upstart" Titan Legions of other Forge Worlds than Mars was well known.

Hope you like :smile.:

Those look fantastic Atia - I see you went for the Myrmidon Battleline Maniple in the rule book. The quality of the black is stunning! I see what you mean for the subtle weathering. Are you done or will you add more?

Also, how did you do the chequers? Are they from the Knights’ decal sheet?

Am I to believe that the extra weapons, heads and decals will be coming our way soon? I guess now it’s Reavers’ turn!

Thanks for the comments everyone :teehee:

Glad you like them! My current plan is to add 2 Reavers, 2 Warhounds, one Imperator aswell as Knights of House Morbidia and Malinax down the line. Wouldn't say no to a Nemesis or Nightgaunt either :whistling:. Oh, and for Prospero they will fight alongside a Legio Sinister Warlord-Psi Titan :tongue.:

The chequers are from the 32mm scale House Malinax transfer sheet. Sadly you can't get it anymore, because sales managment decided to cut on transfers and airbrush paints .... :wallbash:

More weapons aswell as 6mm scale transfers should be up before Christmas.

You know, there is a little event going on, called "Call of Chaaaooos" or something like that .... and I have to paint a few cute Gellerpoxies for that before returning to tiny Titans - here we go!

I commend your painting skills- your work is most impressive.

Thanks Bjorn :blush.:

These are beautiful, Atia! You've done the best Legio a great service

Glad you like them :happy.:

They look great

Thanks buddy!

Great news there! Look forward for the new Titans (weren’t these two originally Warlord variants?), weapons and transfers. And let’s hope Krytos will be included in the new decals!

Also, why stop at two more Warhounds? With four you’ll be able to build all the Maniples presented in the rule book! :woot:

It's mostly because I want to do more legions down the line - but also because Legio Mortis' bulk is made from Warlord, Reaver and Nightgaunt Titans - Warhounds weren't used that much in comparison to them. That said they are sooo cute that I have to do two for Mortis. Will also do 2 for Gryphonicus (alongside 3-4 Reavers!).

Imperator?

I take you'll use a castellan for it?

If for some reason GW decides to shut down the Specialist Games Team - yeah, worst case I'll have to convert my own. That said, Adeptus Titanicus sells quite good, and although the current rules aren't written with Emperor Class Titans as core units in mind, it would be a shame to not do a large centerpiece model, wouldn't it?

In other news - started to work on the poxies =)

Your titans look fantastic! I hope one day mine can look that good...*look at the box with the spray painted sprues...one day. :whistling:

The poxies are going to look awesome! Definitely want to see some more of those painted up!

Thanks for the comments boys :blush.:

Finished the fourth Glitchling aswell as the first Vox-shambler today!

Started to work on the big guys - I'm gonna use Death Guard bonded Dark Mechanicum Thallaxii instead of the big generic mutants though :)

Not sure if I'm entirely happy with the way his leg looks, may add a bit of flesh on the upper inner side of it.
