Tyrannicide, I think its really just how intimidating the shoulders and plate looks coupled with the scheme. I'd love to see what some of the more accomplished builders/converters could do with mk III and a slew of bitz

This thread is just getting better and better. Seeing the army together is inspiring and depressing at the same time!! I am loving the blue you've got going on.

 

Your Spartan is just tempting me to get one-- but i've got too many other things to do, plus I think my efforts would pale compared to yours!!

Hey friends, not been any progress due to real life issues, but here's an admittedly cynical Battle Report with my buddy Crablezworth where we played some 30k. Note I did screw up with wargear when trying to make points back (due to a different screw up lol) and didn't realize it was volkites or heavy chainblades (i used both ) so this would have swung things even further against me.

So it's been a while since I posted any content in this thread since I haven't really hobbied at all since August, but I have some pics of my latest game I played (taken by Crablezworth as per usual for in game pics). Unfortunately the only shots of the Spartan are rather non-informative, but seeing as its such a large model I can understand how hard it can be to get a tabletop viewpoint of it. And yes, the lascannon coils are rather blah, I still need to touch it up from a few months ago

Am I jealous? Undeniably! They look great on the tabletop, and that top photo with Sevatar surfing the Spartan is just...wow. I didn't realise they were that big.

They're pretty prominent, about 9" long and 7" wide if you count the sponsons. Thanks for the support :)

I've used so much mkIII for them that all the other types just looks super sleek and streamlined now, regardless of the amount of bling :P

I was thinking of making 20 of them as Vets so I can make a pride list (20 terminators, 20 vets) as well as having a power armour squad sevetar can go with instead of being forced to go with terminators when I run Terror Squads. Thoughts and/or suggestions?

This just reminds me of the rage I felt when I saw Sev only had power armor instead of artificer. Rules gripes aside you have some superb Night Lords here, you do the VIIITH proud...

Another Sev issue is that if they hadn't detailed the Master of Ambush he'd have the best warlord trait in the game and be able to roll with the terror.

 

I'm not too sure about my Vet loadout, I was thinking Sniper Heavy Bolters, but I'm not sure how effective they actually are. Maybe make them that way then have the additional 5 guys to fill in as bolter marines if I want to run them as Tac squads?

that's what I'm doing I have a hvy support rocket squad and hvy support hvy bolter squad that only really exist to be the special weapons of my tac vets when I take them but on the off chance I want to I can field them as a legal unit on there own

Yea, I think the only problem is that you can take 2 weapons when you have a 10 man squad, but ill get at most 3 heavy bolters so I cant go with 4 heavy bolters. Maybe plasma heavy bolter?

Been a long time without any actual progress  but its finally here. I finished all the detail on the guys I'd painted up for a bat-rep that never was filmed a page or two back, as well as adding some details on all the finished models (purple gem on chest, highlight on "on" volkite coils). The exception to the details was terror markings, save for the above three (I have a feeling I subconsciously copied something I saw on the WiP forums so credit to whomever has done it before me).

 

I was a bit worried about how stable my painting would be after around 4 months, but I was able to do detail more consistently then before I stopped. That being said, my hobby skills went downhill as I drilled a good number of off-center bolt pistol barrels
