Ok guys I'm nearly done prepping for the etl so want to settle on the next couple of squads for the crusade army.

 

I'm thinking that one will be hawk lords, but not sure what the other will be, though at some point I'm gonna take a crack at sockwithaticket's crimson tears I'm saving those for after etl.

 

So ideas if you please?

ETL update time.

Got the base metal down on everything bar the chaos marine squad and half of the helbrute, which will be finished today. Here's an example -

60%/40% mix of Humbrol Gunmetal/Ancient Bronze which has come out really nice with more depth than I expected.

Will start building up the highlights before moving onto the fleshy bits.

My 1st ETL vow for this year can be found in the Realms of Chaos strategium for those interested :tu:

Anyway I plan on painting the army slowly, working on improving my painting in areas where I feel it particularly lacks. So there will be semi regular updates as I work through each unit :tu:

Ok, after the whole "Winning the ETL because Chaos rules " thing I thought I'd do a brief update on the progress here.

 

Currently on layer 4 of the pauldrons, only a couple of layers to go with working up from VGC Wolf Grey to VGC Dead White. Think I'll add a few glazes of White afterward just to smooth it down some more.

 

Then I will be starting on the robes and probably the basecoat for the actual armour as I have yet to paint a single bit of Black :lol:

 

I'm gonna try and get the White areas finished of tomorrow night after work and hopefully will get some story so far pics up around the weekend.

Also got the silver base coats on now, which means a little clean up before starting on the Black, which I'm approaching very differently to how I usually do.

Managed to snaffle 15 classic metal Marines on old eBay tonight along with a host of 2nd Ed. bits, so expect to see something about them soon.

 

Nothing to report about the Templars other than I have got all the Black based and have started laying in the Red base, though I haven't touched a brush all week due to inordinate amounts of work :(

EBay win arrived today and I couldn't be happier.

I got the original metal BA tactical squad as well as enough classic Devs for a 5 man squad.

 

I had been wondering what I should paint them as, but since it's the BA tac squad I think the fates have decided....

Been a bit busy with working, getting ready to get wedded, sorting out various non-hobby matters etc.

 

I have however been plugging away at some stuff, non BT related as I'm struggling to get my mojo back with them at the mo, there will be pics in the near future....
