The Traitor
The dread is looking stunning, a real masterpiece! I would however try to sharpen the blade a bit, to make less noticeable that it is in a scabbard. Also ther horns look great, I wasn't too sold on that idea but at the end with the chariot ones it looks pretty good. ElDuderino
This latest update is really cool, new horns are perfect and the extended legs makes him look much more proportional! I don't think you need to shave down the tabbard now, it's perfect. Maybe beef the thighs up some though? KrautScientist
Man, it's great to see you directly putting those horns to excellent use! The other changes you have made to the model are quite excellent as well: The leg extension really does a great job of "fixing" the model's proportions. However, the model looks ever so slightly cross-legged right now, due to the knees facing inwards a bit too much -- maybe you could still tweak that part a bit?! Â In any case, the model is absolutely fantastic, and certainly a far cry fom its humble, vanilla origins. I fear sharpening the blade would kill some of the nice details. But I'll see what I can do with it.  This latest update is really cool, new horns are perfect and the extended legs makes him look much more proportional! Yep, I'm going to fix his knees. I have some nice ideas for the Kheres as well. One of those bits you send me was some awesome birdskull on a leatherband. Tzaangor faces, Warp-Flamer mussels... It fits so nicely together in my head. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311777-aasfressers-thousand-sons/page/6/#findComment-4842706 Share on other sites
BubblesMcBub
With that little hight added to the legs he went from a cool really decorated but somewhat bulky dreathnought to an amazing relic of a legion!the tabart is much cooler with the longer legs and the horns make himnlook like a tribute to magnus in an honourable way and not a kinda mocking way that it kinda looked like with the original magnus horns! But as kraut said he looks a bit crosslegged but i don't think that would be the biggest problem to solve you can do it! Keep it up! Sagentus
That Contemptor is looking amazing. The extra height from the legs and torso make the figure a lot let dumpy looking. Aasfresser
Today some new sculpting tools arrived and I somewhat got carried away with the contemptors legs. With some tubes and other plasticard pieces I gave some bulk to the tights. I know it doesn't makes much sense from an engeneers point of view, but after 10k years of stomping Russes mutts some warpsmiths or heretek copied ork-high-tech and gave this proud warrior of the XV legion some strengthend leg power bracers :D I also finished the Kheres. Its not perfect, but the paintjob will do the rest. I really love that bird skull, does anybody know where it might be from? I got it yesterday in a bitzs drop from Kraut. Now to finish the torso, the GS has to be smoothend with miliput and the horns have to be properly attached with GS. Rivets are missing all over the place. And the helmet needs some cables. Also those bands for the crest are missing, I just want to see if the look good or not. But first the torso. C&C is as always appreciated! ------------------------------------------------ With that little hight added to the legs he went from a cool really decorated but somewhat bulky dreathnought to an amazing relic of a legion!the tabart is much cooler with the longer legs and the horns make himnlook like a tribute to magnus in an honourable way and not a kinda mocking way that it kinda looked like with the original magnus horns! But as kraut said he looks a bit crosslegged but i don't think that would be the biggest problem to solve you can do it! Augustus b'Raass
Man, I'm off the board for a few days and then this.... Once again this board proves to be such an awesome, inspiring community. I only suggested the horns, and lo and behold someone (KrautScientist) offers to send them and booooom, your project is skyrcketed into the next level.  Don't get me wrong, your conversion is definitely i the top three best plastic contemptor conversions I've seen so far, and most definitely the most involved and most original. Well done! I can only add that for future projects, I would highly recommend mixing a tiny bit of Milliput in with your GreenStuff: it maks the greenstuff more maleable, which greatly reduces the effort needed to smoothen transitions between putty and other surfaces. :tu:  Also: Hidden Content The Contemptor is coming along splendidly! Fantastic work! As for your questions: It's a 40k Comtemptor, right? If so, I think it would be really cool to try and match the design of the Scarab Occult/Thousand Sons weapon for the Kheres, at least to some degree. I also agree with the other guys that he needs a loincloth/tabard, both due to the bulkier torso and due to the fact that you have added to that effect by giving him a wider stance One thing I've done with my own Contemptor, and would suggest to anyone converting the plastic Comtemptor, is to lengthen its stubby fingers by grafting on the longer fingers from another plastic Dreadnought kit. The alternate horns for the breastplate should be with you shortly Keep up the fantastic work! Thank you very much, Kraut! All those pints will be considered and implemented. Esp. the fingering. You won't believe how wrong I read that at first glance, then realized the type-o and what you really meant...! :D :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311777-aasfressers-thousand-sons/page/6/#findComment-4843572 Share on other sites

Such high praise means a lot and motivates me even more. I'll consider your recommendation, I know exactly what you mean. How exactly do you mix the milliput +GS? 1:2 or more 1:3? And 4.5 laughs for you for pointing out that typo. That looks really weird  By the way: does someone have a spare Kheres Assault cannon from the plastic contemptor dread? I just need the weapon part. I'm willing to trade something for it or pay in Yuros. Sagentus
Those pistons on the legs look great, certainly bulk the legs out a bit. Aasfresser
Over the weekend I needed a break from the dread. As much as I love that project, at some point I wanted to distract myself a bit. I got some easy to build Primaris to play around with them. If my vision for the primaris forms a bit more I'll show you something nice Those primaris were a lot of fun! alone exchanging the helmets and shoulders with chaos bits was so much fun. I sat there for 2 hours simply searching for interesting helmets to put on them. Those proportions are simply great. I really wish we get some new CSM soon. They don't have to be primaris sized, but at leas TS or DG sized. Also I finished the last SO Cataphract. I thought. Until I realized I forgot to anorder loincloth... Well now to wait some more for Cpt. Ebay.   The new update looks fantastic! Love all the little details you've added, can't wait to see more!    Thanks Vaircoanum! There will be more Coming along the week. Outstanding update. This absolutely ranks among your best work. Thank you Isengrin! Comming from you, that is a really huge compliment. Aasfresser
Here is an very very early mock up of an Exalted Champion count as Huron Blackheart for my Sons of the Cyclops CSM. I love that head, and it's somewhat Krautscientists fault I got distracted because he send me another one. Originally I wanted to use it for something different, but it seems like I have to get another one. The Backpack and the arms will be replaced in time, as I said this is only a first concept. One reason I wanted to do this is to get a bit more confident with GS. He will get some trim around the legs, especially to tie in the tzaangor head as a piece of armor decoration. And he will get a tabard and a robe, like the DA successor Primaris Marine conversion in this months White Dwarf (which was one major inspiration for this and another little side project). This will be a real challenge for me. Maybe it will look good, maybe I will fail totally and he'll look like carp. Please be gentle :P ________________ What else ti say except for OUTSTANDING?I have it:GEILES ZEUG HIER!!!! (great stuff) Dank, Danke, mein Herr. The Traitor
I like him a lot, specially taking into account the base model, has it been more difficult to work over that? Gabocius
I just ran through your whole topic and must say that there are a bunch a clever conversion here ! I especially like your take on obliterators and may borrow this idea as I never painted my old metal ones due to their lack of personality. The face swap gives thm exactly what they lacked, and the weapon swap seems actually closer to their new profile IMO. Â About your last miniature, there is smth not convincing in the pose. I feel that he is disbalanced on his back. His right shoulder should be in the same direction as his right arm I would say...anyway that's a good start and I'm sure that it should end as impressive as your other miniatures ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311777-aasfressers-thousand-sons/page/6/#findComment-4848423 Share on other sites
Aasfresser
For my first try to sculpt trimming on armor with GS, I think the result it is acceptable. When it's cured I have to file it down a bit and maybe cut some of it away. One more leg to go, than the robe and than evtl. some more trim on the chest. ____________________ good work so far, not all the bits gel perfectly, and some might need gs to fix that, but as you said, it's a work in progress. Prospekt
This is great work for a first try at sculpting, certainly far more refined than anything I could do with putty! Aasfresser
And back to the Dread. He is finished, for now. The rivets are still missing, a lot of them. And I'm not so sure about the striped bands/stola thingies anymore. While I love the idea, I cant get the hot enough to bend like I want to. They look a bit off. I'll sleep a few days on that... And because I'm a ceap bastard and want all the options, every major joint is magnetized (also I love magnetizing my models).
