    Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

Salamanders’ Armour on Dakota Minor (884M41)

Introduction The Salamanders had come to the Segmentum Obscurus with a contingent of over 160 Astartes hailing from the 1st, 2nd and 5th Companies, along with their respective Captains, to fight in the ill-fated Yttrius Crusade (883M41). At its conclusion, their numbers had been significantly reduced; the veterans of the 1st Company were either dead or incapacitated, the 2nd and 5th Companies had been cut to half of their starting strength, and their drop pods had been exhausted. However, t

Salamander Progress

I have made some more progress on the Salamander Command vehicle:      The top heavy bolter is from the old heavy weapons squad while the hull heavy flamer is from the chimera chassis vehicles.    The plasticard in the back is a platform so that the crew can access the heavy bolter.

Start of Sagittarum

I'm currently working on this squad of Sagittarum as a Christmas Gift to my pal. We're currently getting into Underworlds as a gaming group as a chilled and quick board game. Currently I'm the only one with any teams so I've managed to snag them all a team that fits into an army they already collect. As such I thought this Stormcast team would work well as a crossover unit for his Custodes, the Crossbows keep the Knightly-esoteric vibes his army has so far. The missus and I have also just adopte

Salamander command vehicle

Using the left over chimera chassis from the basilisk kit I have started a Command Salamander for the Cadian 223rd Artillery. It's early days but coming along well. The Sloped armour pieces are the top plates from the Leman Russ sponsons while the long pieces with the dip are the spare plates that come in every chimera chassis vehicle kit that sit on the back of the platform.

What´s hidden underneath my Pile of Shame? Tiny Marines!

I dunnot plan playing the resurected version of EPIC set in the HH. I must focus, Or at least it is one of my aims. Largely influenced by my wife´s "encouragments", but this is another story.   I dunnot plan playing the resurected version of EPIC set in the HH, but it does not mean that the 6mm scale, a.k.a. EPIC, is totaly unknown from me. Deep bellow my pile of shame, in the tailing end of the scoring board structuring priorities of what shall be painted, lie some small boxes on

Militia earthshaker progress

More work has been done on the earthshaker carriage.      It's coming along quite nicely I think, Not pictured are the tow hooks on the front, underneath the gun, I'll try nab a photo of it from that angle later.

Militia gun carriage

I have started work on an earthshaker carriage conversion for the militia.    It's ambitious, taking the track units of a taurox and lots of plasticard, I plan to put the platform from the basilisk on top of these.

The Start of a pal's Custodes

A good friend of mine wanted to create a Custodes project that looked more Knightly than they currently do. Their armour usually is all rounded and basically bigger marines, so Stormcast were perfect for the idea he was going for. He slung me a couple of models to try a test scheme on so he can get to work on building the rest with the brief being: Silver, blue and battered armour. I reckon I can do that! WIPS so far:

BatRep: Tyranids v Votann

I had a small game against Votann last night - my opponent was very experienced with 8/9th however life got in the way of 10th ad they have only had a couple of games so getting used to it, much like myself.    We said 1250 to allow us both to get some tricks in, while keeping the game quite small.    Hive Fleet Jabberwocky (Things with G's got a grudgin'.) 1x Parasite G 1x 20 gaunts 1x 10 gants fleshborers 1x 10 devilgants 1x 10 gargoyles 1x exo

Dakota Minor Defence Corps (PDF)

Introduction Like many established Imperium worlds, Dakota Minor has a planetary defence force simply known the Dakota Minor Defence Corps (or DMDC). Most of its number are conscripted from the local population; a small number of citizens willingly join to escape the tedium of farm life that is prevalent on Dakota Minor. The DMDC is organised in a manner similar to Astra Militarum regiments, albeit more limited in their makeup. For the most part, it consists of dozens of infantry battalions

Armiger Talon Intermission

Lil big knights!  368698878_10161052381015797_2401397191367279107_n  As a bit of an intermission, our group is doing a throwback to our classic apocalypse games with a 30k, 30k game and after a weekend with a horde adjacent Anathema army i really wanted to run something Elite, and aint nothing more elite than Knights with Custodes allies! Both forces having barely seen table time all together, essentially being allies and addons to myriad other forces over the years (Especially the Red King!)

A strange observation...

I am deep into painting the next three squads - and Lieutenant - for this Boarding Patrol; I've now finished highlighting the armour, so now I'm painting the undersuits.    Rather than talk about that (not massively exciting ), I thought I'd share an observation about how washes seem to work differently on miniatures with a different pose. When I had base-coated the Hellblasters and Lieutenant, after I gave them a wash of my, uhh, custom wash  I felt that - for whatever reason - the ar

Leviathan Librarian into...

So, I know I said my next blog post would be looking at my plans for my Canis Rex counts-as…   …but, I was looking at the sprue for the Terminator Librarian and trying to think how I was going to modify it to make it my own (I just don't like leaving stuff without any kind of conversion!) Anyway, sudden inspiration struck! This model:     …is an old favourite of mine. It's a bit dated in terms of scale and proportions, but the character of it is just so cool. So, I

Saracen's Tau vs Tyriks' Necrons (1000 pts)

I got in another game this weekend with Tyriks and remembered to take pictures this time. We decided to play 1000 points again because we're still getting back into 40k since a long pause during 9th and a shorter break between the start of 10th and now due to life being chaotic. The lists are in the comments below this Batrep Post to keep the clutter down.   Tyriks graciously set up the table for us after drawing a random deployment card, which was Crucible Of Battle or diagonal deploy

! Breaking news ! - Delivery completed (at least, it took a while)

Since the day I passed my order on the website of a FLGS, a lot of water has flown from the mountains to the sea. Let´s do the maths yourself: Order passed on July 24th and AdMech Patrol Box received on September 26th (last Tuesday). What went wrong would you ask?   First we might need a small step back in time, just to reset the context: I did not want this Patrol box. Not really. Not as much as I wanted the Extermination Maniple left on shelves of the e-FLGS. But the discount on

The Swarmlord

I haven't had much time for hobby lately, and I spent most of that time building. But I did get some time to work on my Swarmlord (which I may be using as a Hive Tyrant on foot, but the Swarmlord looks cooler so I went for that). Side note - the new Hormagaunts are SO MUCH BETTER than the old ones. I remember spending more time cleaning mold lines than everything else combined when I built them back in 4th/5th.  I also have (I think) a handle on how I want to go about the background for my fleet

A little more fun with numbers - Vulkan He'stan

I've been looking again at the Firestorm list in the previous entry, and I can't quite decide whether to stick with my Captain, or use the same 100 points and count him as Vulkan? (The mini is armed with a sword, shield and holstered pistol, but I can easily say he's also hiding a Pyreblaster under his cloak to count as the Gauntlet!)   Captain 80pts Heavy Bolt Pistol, MC Power Sword, Relic Shield +Enhancement: Adamantine Mantle 20pts -Or- Vulkan He'stan 100pts   Join

40k Pile of Shame Updated - Where has everything gone???

My journey through my 40k Pile of Shame has been a years long travel, and it looks like it reaches to an end. Well, in reality it is likely to be a endless trip as some new projects still can join the frey and postpone this day of celebration AND mourning where I will be left without anything to Paint/Assemble/convert and/or slash... (I am btw still waiting for my AdMech Patrol since July 24th...)   If we step back a little bit a few years ago, everything was resumed with the Lock-down

Battle Report: Crusade - Jabberwocky v Daemons

Long time no post! I've been organising a crusade campaign at my local club, and members have gotten really into it, with plenty of games occurring each week, and using the Leviathan campaign rules and supplement.    This month, after an imperial win in month 1, the nids are on the back foot as the imperials take the fight to the swarm. The Chaos raiders are doing some looting and pillaging, and the imperial archive worlds are under assault from both material and immaterial enemies.

Beginnings - Into the Maelstrom

Much as I love the new Primaris models, there's just something about the classic pre-8th Space Marines and the kitbashing of said models that really hits a nostalgia nerve for me. So I wanted a project that didn't feel redundant in the modern game of 40K, but also steers clear of being Heresy. The answer is obviously to step back to 5th/6th Edition and the coolest internecine conflict the Imperium has ever seen, the Badab War!   The aim is to use a bit of modern third-party product in

Fun with numbers! (List building)

I'm really happy with how my Celebrants army is progressing. I'm not that bothered about list building in general and don't play very often anyway, but I do quite like having something to work towards? Therefore, I've worked out a new list (using the updated Munitorum Field Manual points as per what was revealed in the latest Goonhammer article):     So, 4 Characters, 5 Vehicles, 5 squads. It's not intended to be mega-competitive, just a fun list that should hopefully do ok?
