    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

    Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. The Iron Duke, his twin Earthshaker cannons blasting holes in the enemy's fortifications. He guards those retreating and the wounded behind his massive blast shield

    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

Money can be exchanged for goods and services

Allo   Continuing on with the theme of my fiscal irresponsibility behold the siege breaker I have built.   I don't run siege breakers and decided to build this on a whim. Unfortunately for me the parts needed included one arm from the Sons of horus weapon set. I don't play Sons of horus ended up buying the pack for one bit.   He do be handsome tho   I also received all the bases I need for my solar aux infantry

Unwise decisions and their costs

Allo   It is well known and spoken of amongst the clouds above that I am not a smart man   Many have described me as "upright" and "lacking in brain wrinkles"   Perhaps as of a result of this I decided to buy into the solar aux and also buy fancy bases       Luckily I am too empty thought to have worked out how much this will cost in the long wrong but considering there's 100 infantry I expect its going to be a bad time

Hot diggity damm thats a lot of tank

Right lets try this again    So finished all my infantry and started my tanks, changed tank scheme part way through because it was too bright. Painted all the tanks looked back at the infantry had a mild breakdown at the difference in brightness and stripped the infantry #winning lmao                           Either way the bulk of the tank are done aha

APRIL - The Fall of the Eldar (via Royal Mail)

OK, let's start this month's entry with a quick recap.    Jan - bought a tonne of models. Pile got bigger Feb - sold a tonne of models. Pile got smaller Mar - bought a tonne of models. Pile got bigger   Guess what happened in April?   Well dear reader you would be correct. I sold a tonne of models. In fact nearly my entire Eldar project (nobody wants a Wraithlord or wraith-plane-thing apparently) has made its way out through the postal system to new owners

Even more updates.

For once it has not been months since the last update. I have had a fairly productive week and actually managed to clear several of the partly painted models off of my desk:     The scouts from the Killteam salvation box are now done, as is my Gladiator lancer, but forgot to photograph that.     This grey knights Librarian, is a kit bash based on the terminator librarian from the leviathan boxed set, actually finished it a couple of weeks ago, but just r

Abaddon update and guilliman started

Time to get back to the big chap!  Finishing off the various skulls on his trophy rack and the couple hanging from his waist (not pictured), but mainly finishing off his right pauldron with the massive eye! All that's left to do is: 1. finish off a his various 'metal' skulls such as on the talons and left pauldron 2. finish the helmet and decomposing head to complete the trophy rack 3. Paint his topknot and reattach to head 4. Paint and reattach the ammo feeder to the

Work in Progress!

So the new furniture arrived from Ikea yesterday.  Between work and taking care of the kids, the Fiancé and me have the task of building all the furniture and rearraigning the office.  Which may included painting and changing out the lights.        Last night we moved the items bins full of hobby stuff, books, etc. out of the office. Then we moved the old furniture we were getting rid of out on to the downstairs patio. After dinner and cleaning up after dinner, we moved a cab

.....Ever Onwards

I've been a bit lax in keeping up with updates lately , so this one will be a bit of a catch-up.    Recently finished are my two squads of striking scorpions from the Kill Team: Salvation box set:     I have also made a fair bit of progress on the other half of the box set, the scouts, along with a gladiator lancer, my kit-bashed Phobos Librarian and a 3d printed Eradicator with multi-melta as this was not an option for the easy build squad I have. I have got most

Upcoming Work in Progress!

So last night my Fiancé and I were discussing the lack of work space in our shared Office/ Hobby Room.  I have a decent amount of workspace but lack display space. She has decent storage space but not enough counter space to work. We have been redoing all the rooms lately so we are no stranger to Ikea visits and deliveries. So after a few minutes of discussion and measurements, and looking at different cabinets,  we purchased new Furniture and agreed to repaint the room in to a lighter color.  M

The War for Khyama Sub-Sector- A Metal Head Armory Campaign PT 1

As one of the founding members of Metal Head Armory here in Arizona, we have always wanted to have our battles in the same system. For the longest time it was a no name system. Until 2015, when I picked a 40k Planet at random, so we fought for control for Khymara.  As the group has advanced into other games, Necromunda and 30k, we never really left that system.  And it is time to update the Metal Head Armory fluff.    Pre-Heresy       41st Millennium

Militia Baneblade

I am slowly working my way through a baneblade for the militia:      There are plenty of gaps to be filled on this but nothing a little greenstuff won't handle. The downside of this being an older kit is that the parts don't fit as snugly as they would on newer kit.

[Ref.  Lady Commandant Miriam "Marm" Killian]     I remember quite vividly, the day I lost my arm.  It was, what, 30 years ago now?  I had been a newly minted lieutenant, part of the Ship's Self Defense Force during the Hellfreek Ring War, when the eye yawned vast and split the sky, and the ring mining complexes orbiting the ancient paradise world Arx Draconis came alive with demons.  It was then that the Night Screamers and the Void Crows and the Blood Dogs came to Malexis.

Uriel Ventris, Captain of the Ultramarines 4th Company

Here is my recently finished figure of Uriel Ventris that I painted because it was March (for Maccragge!). All painted within one month, which is good for me.  Painted pretty much following the GW app colours, so nothing really special there. I decided on making the floor shiny, so attempted a bit of 'relection' of the blue armour on it, which works well enough for what I wanted (Golden Daemon winners need not worry!). The Power sword has some zappy sparks running up it, with a vague attempt m

Snakes of Ithaka's return to the Phratry

The Iron Snakes The Iron Snakes Fear not the snake for his guile, nor his silence. Fear him for his speed at striking, The clenching strength of his coils, The armour of his scales, And the sharpness of his bite. Lord Solar in a Weekend: Bringing the Hobby Back

Lord Solar: Yes, I know. It's been done. We've all seen 100's of conversions of Lord Solar. Leave me alone. I felt the hobby inspiration. I had to go with it.    Construction - building off of my previous display boards. Base: went to mdf round 80mm base. This is no time for the slanted standard GW base. Shape: two half circles of cork, with styrene wrapped around the half-circle shape. The MDF base allowed me to glue the styrene to the flat edge. No water effects thi

Matteus Delta System

+++ INTRODUCTION +++   The Matteus Delta system contains the more fertile and hospitable worlds of the Matteus Subsector. The seat of subsector governance and authority is situated here, and much of the foodstuffs and local labour is sourced from the worlds. The system would see its share of turmoil during "The Strifes" but would survive relatively unscathed until late M41.     Visualisation of the Matteus Delta star system, showing the three key planets and satelli

Tackling my T’au - Stormsurge Part 6

Basically a photo gallery of the finished model. The armour panels had a final edge highlight of Skarsnik Green, while the gold areas were highlighted first with liberator gold and then mithril silver (very old Citadel pot). Red areas are highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlet and then Fire Dragon Bright.   In case anyone is interested, the smoke coming from the Leman Russ is an old trick of mine, harking back to my teens when my mum used to make teddy bears. The smoke is actually

Tackling my T’au - Stormsurge Part 5

So a big jump in progress here from the last blog, because the Stormsurge is finished! I didn’t manage to take photos at every stage because I was pushing hard to get it done for the 12 months of hobby, but I’ll include what stages I can. Base coating of all areas: Sotek Green, Gehenna’s Gold and Khorne Red:    Then the first layer of highlighting in Temple Guard Blue. This colour really starts to lift the model.     All over:     I
