Well i took me quite some time to post some pics of my minis in these hallowed halls. I started my Word Bearers several years ago (around the time of the 4th edition Codex) and they have been a project that has developed since then. I have a nasty habit of allowing myself to be far too easily distracted. As a result many of my marines are in a kind of 'painting limbo'. Almost finished but not quite. This is the main reason i have decided to start this thread in the WIP forum. Hopefully it will give me the motivation i need to continue building on my WBs and their allies. Thanks These Possessed are actually the first minis i painted for the army. Sorry about the poor photo quality. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0170.jpg?t=1308475920 My Berzerkers were the second squad i painted. As soon i got my hands on the Berzerkers kit i knew i had to fix the old and out of date arms and weapons. For this i used a combination of CSM and marauder arms with the newer CSM weapons. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0109.jpg Flamer havocs. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0178.jpg http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0179.jpg?t=1308473468 My Dark Apostle 'true scale' attempt. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/P1010316.jpg?t=1308473795 I intended to give the Apostle a terminator body guard...but got side tracked by A D-B's Blood Reaver...and so i have just made a start at a 'true scale' NL. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0144.jpg Anyway thanks for looking

First update is that I've got the basecoat on for my first ten cultists I've stretched the contents of one set of Dark vengeance cultists, plus the five pack box into thirty six cultists so far with a mixture of parts from the empire flagellants kit providing the bulk of the parts. But also featuring old necromunda plastics, crypt ghouls, chaos marauders and whatever else I could get my hands on. (the last four will be based off of push fit cadian as budget was too tight to spring for metal Cawdor and redemptionist gangers from eBay at this time) I've tried to mix up and mess around with the stock cultists as much as possible to avoid repetition, some of these changes were quite easy, others, not so much. I'll be trying to find ways of painting the different parts to really get a feel for the different textures of the fabrics, so there should be hopefully a fair few techniques to try out along the way. Is this too much effort for lowly cultists? Of course it is, but that's not going to stop me. ***Further Update May 2 2020: thanks to replacement image hosting also going behind a big fat pay wall all the completed images have had to be relocated again, they are not currently reposted and I would like to apologise for the lengthy section mid blog with lots of talk about images that no longer exist. That said I have now relocated everything into my bolter and chainsword gallery and will be re-posting stuff over the coming days and weeks. If you get bored of waiting for that feel free to check out Instagram or CMON as most stuff is over there. (Although not everything) *** Please note all old wip images have been removed thanks to the great photobucket policy change of 2017, and completed shots have been posted in new posts from page 3 onward. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/322456-maligns-litany-of-hate-mk-3-images-restored-from-page-3/?p=4905982 *** This will be my ETL WiP thread, mk3 of my painting log for my long running, oft neglected Word Bearers. Greetings brethren, I am glad to show you my first shots about my new Black Word Bearers Army. I know Sons of Lorgar are red but... I prefer black. You will see here several trials I made about astrological symbols of Word Bearers, a plant or jungle base. I am not very comfortable with green stuff (and english) but I am learning to use it. Here we are, allows me to introduce my Dark Apostle (I need to name him) : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2015/06/1422968324-apotre-noir.jpg My Hellbrute (a peacefull dude) : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2015/06/1422968326-hellbrute.jpg And a brother. For my CSM I wanted an archaic and massive power armor to show to everyone they were fallen warrior of Mankind. http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2015/06/1422968323-fantassin.jpg I hope you like it, if you have any advice I will take it ! C'est tout pour aujourd'hui !

From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the boon of pain, to turn the galaxy red with blood, and feed the hunger of the gods!" — Excerpt from the three hundred and forty-first Book of the Epistles of Lorgar Pre Heresy Chapters/Hosts/Company's Chapter of Consecrated Iron/Formerly the Graven Star Chapter - Battle Captain Baphos (Slave to Darkness) Piercing Gaze Chapter - commanded by Belzas Azalon, Saviour of Thranx (Kraut) Post Heresy Hosts/Warbands 11th Host - Commanded by Ankh-Heloth 12th Host - Commanded by Dark Apostle Baphos (Slave to Darkness) 18th Host - commanded by Dark Apostle Azalon and Coryphaeus Gemnon (Kraut) 30th Host - Commanded by Belagosa 34th Host - Commanded by Marduk I would like to thank Dark_Apostle_XVII and Forte for making this thread possible, and extra credit to Dark_Apostle_XVII for the nicely worded text at the beginning and for throwing his ideas into the cooking pot. As already mentioned in the title this thread is WIP so there is plenty more content to be added to this first post, E.G. the different Chapters that make up the Word Bearers legion, the Pre/Post heresy listings where all you lovely people will be recorded for all time and lots of other stuff, I would also be chuffed if someone could help me with the Novel listings, as there is still many book, audio dramas I'm yet to get around to digesting, even if it just has one Brother of the Word in for a few paragraphs we need to know for completions sake. Word Bearer Novels Word Bearers Trilogy - Dark Apostle, Dark Disciple, Dark Creed, Tormented (Short story) Battle for the Abyss The First Heretic Aurelian Know No Fear Mark of Calth Betrayer The Purge Fear to Tread Chosen of Khorne by Anthony Reynolds Legion of the Damned by Rob Sanders Perfection by Nick Kyme Oh yeah...
