    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. The Iron Duke, his twin Earthshaker cannons blasting holes in the enemy's fortifications. He guards those retreating and the wounded behind his massive blast shield

    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

    Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

Why so?

Ok, I wanna marine army, though I don't like them for years. I think I hate them for years. I like new range( I leave hobby at the end of 7th, and all primaris stuff are new range for me), most of the models are really great. But my damn brain required justification. Like cool mini or not isn't main problem. Why this guys are fighting? How they become what they are? Why this His Holly Unicorns chapter took this name? Why they are use this and that combat doctrines? Etc, etc. Aaaand in most

Rogue Trader Entourage – Part 2

Hi folks,   As I introduced it previously [Not GSC - Rogue Trader Entourage Part 1 - How to pretend not starting an army - The Bolter and Chainsword], I have recently bought some new models to be painted and included in my Imperium forces under the form of an Inquisitorial retinue and some RT Entourage.   My objective was, initially, to get back in service some iddled miniatures I have here or there as an Inquisitorial Retinue. But this trend led me to expanding the option wi

Tanksgiving: The Event

So I was wedged between a Baneblade and Angron... who thankfully saw scarier things than my Salamander Space Marine in his Turret hiding in a building.   Over 3 turns, I did 7 damage to a Helldrake and took 2 in return.   By the end of the game, there was nothing within 36" to shoot at.    A victory for the Emperor today!

Lathe Biosas in Tanksgiving: Day 3

Day 1: Buying & Clipping

Due to problems with Tariffs, International Shipping and other nonsense my Cyclops Demolition Vehicle is now permanently living with US Customs.   So I have 3 days to buy, build and paint a vehicle... bought it, clipped it... and have to somehow paint it on Thanksgiving. I'm sure my family won't mind.     Day 1: Bought a Firestrike Servo-Turret for the Tanksgiving Event. I'm now clipping the model off the sprue.

U.F.O. 2 - Look who's coming for dinner

Hi folks, Remember this Unidentified Flying Object?:       Well, after years waiting to receive some care and attention, it has been sentenced to paint. Kudo to Jokaero Painting Challenge… I went for a black and yellow scheme, at least for the Rokkits and the oversized chaincleaver. Because at this size it ain’t choppa nor chainsword anymore, is it? And the banner for this article fits the scheme too, did you notice? Such a sense of detail… Because it is better get

12 MoH - Nov'25 progress report

Hi Folks,   Long time no news, real life matters keeping me busy. And Winter's coming led to my hobby space being explused from the glass house. I am therefore back in the main room that I have to share with the living room TV in the background, dinner's table, which is also homework's table some times,... I therefore organized, or rather improvized, a hobby tray. Thank you shoe boxes:     This has some impact on my productivity, mainly because light is poor and da

Long time no news

Hi folks.   When I’ve started this blog, which turned out into THESE blogS when the topics were split and redistributed within distinct categories, my aim was getting approx. one contribution per week. Sometimes it has been more. But recently it turns out being less. But what happened? Boredom? Real life issue? Stepping out of the hobby? Or something else.   Something else in fact. Or some things else. As it looks like it is a series of factors. But what is the root caus

CtA25 - Planting a second Vow...

Hi Folks,     In my Blogs' last installement I was wondering what could be a second pledge within the spectrum of options available in my backlog:   https://bolterandchainsword.com/blogs/entry/1137-cta25-1st-vow-completed/?do=getNewComment     In the end I found that it could eventually be… both things at the same time. While maximizing points in the Xenos Stronghold and giving priority to the Crafworlders I might be able harvesting some points while pai

U.F.O.

Hi Folks,   As my models enlisted in the CtA25 are slowly drying, I used the time left between to thin layers to drill and pin some various old white metal bits all together. The result is a flying oddity, closely related to a fantasy dwarf lord but fiotted with an enlarged ork chainchoppa and Stormboyz rokkits (as jetpack). A good proxy for a Smash Captain; a proxy Deamonprince or and other flying Harrken from CSM. In a nutshell, a chaos turned Votann Lord!!!

Planning CtA25

Hi folks,   The announcement of a resuming of the Call to Arms’ challenge for the third consecutive year has set my mind in turmoil. Every year this event is a key incentive to reach new milestones in completing assembly and painting of these numerous minis stuck in Piles of Shames.   For me 2023 has unlocked a very serious progress: I resumed an Aeldarii project stopped at least a decade before Crafworlders changed from Eldars to Aeldarii. This cleaned part of my backlog and

Shrinking Pile of Shame

Hi Folks,   As some may have read in my previous entries (in this Blog or another) I've moved from my previous location to a new one a couple of months ago. It has been a big opportunity to sort out all bitz, spare parts, unassemnblied, unpainted and unboxed stuff I had in my numerous closets and crates. As my journey to clean my Pile of Shame started during Lock down, I sincerly though I had done most of the job already. Most maybe not in reality but a serious part surely. H

Would these new KT Servitors bring something new to AdMech

Hi folks,   The Adepticon 25 preview showed us some new toys for KT. I witnessed a discussion in a hobby shop this Saturday between two lads who commented the topic. As I am new in town, I felt like it was an opportunity to make a move and introduce myself so that I might eventually see if they are in a gaming group. Painting is nice but dice rolling is also part of the hobby, and I left it set aside for so long… In the end they were not necessarily receptive; mainly because

12 Months of Hobby - Kastelans

Hi Folks,   As a Feb 2025 entry for 12 MoH, I did a speed painting of some Kastelan robots.   "Speed" as I got them ready is something like 4 days or so. Truth is that these lads combine several key advantages or features to reach such a productivity: Big models are always faster to paint My scheme is simple and almost 3 colours only I have already painted something like 3 to 4k pts of AdMechs, so I am trained...   The main risk was to introduce

Volkus Scenery - Part 2

Hi folks.   It has been a while since I completed the first 2 buildings of the Volkus Sceney pack. I prepared these 2 repackaged quick fit buildings as my entry for january into 12 MoH 2025.   In general I am already owning 2 sets alike, which came with the Vertigus boxed set. It was 9th Ed., correct?     When I painted these, I set a more or less stadard PlastCrete colour scheme that I had oportunities to disclose in some early entries of this BLog s

12 Months of Hobby 2024 - a Closing Report

Hi Folks,   As year ends, I keep on going a summary of these 12 past months and their contribution to my Bitz box managment and Pile of Shame reduction. The 12 Months of Hobby Challenge is and has been a great incentive to keep on working on projects on a regular basis, without being too distracted by the "Last-in, First-out syndrom". It helps keeping the momentum on stuff left aside for too long.     Here is the summary:   January The year started o

Another look in the rear-mirror - a 2024 Hobby productivity report

Hi folks,   As year comes to an end, I spent some time having a look at this year productivity. In terms of hobby time and painted miniatures, it has been quite a busy and productive year. I did not realized until this very moment I started scrolling down back in time in my posts.   The list of milestones has been largely animated by the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge and the CtA2024. Let´s dive in.   What counts but does not count as: We are going
