I also completely forgot about tertiaries, we don't handle them in the RAW way in my home game so it slipped my mind completely.

I'm open to options going forward - how do you do it? If there's a more immersive or better way, I'm all ears.

We don't really use compacts at all as written, we only play infrequently so usually use a set objective with some secondaries - not the best way to play at all but suits us when we pick up BC every few months for a couple sessions.

Another QQ on my acquisition, the weapon has Reliable as standard. Because it's poor do I just lose Reliable or do I lose it and gain Unreliable?

Nice and light then....I can see how that works better for pick up and go. We're still working on how to make things better as I'm reasonably new to BC, so if you have suggestions, we can always look at them.

For now, my instinct is to say it just loses Reliable.

EDIT: Yes, I am satisfied this is the case.

Blimey, that Reaper is a good pick, isn't it? Dam per Hit is comparable to a Krak Missile, but you're getting maybe 4 or even 5 Hits per shot, and 5 shots before you need to reload!

FFG have a real thing for ACs, don't they!

Their love of autocannons is only exceeded by my love of explosions.

It is a generous love.

Yeah it's pretty crazy how close they are to a Krak missile, even the slight difference in pen is barely a trade off. I suppose Concussive will have some niche uses. Well worth using the Infamy to get that! Although I did misread that I was already down an infamy point so would have only got +20 (still a pass anyway).

We could maybe use the Tigress as our cover story for exiting the system, since we are technically acting as her agents in the short-term, but I suspect she would rather keep her hands squeaky clean in this regard. Perhaps we can present ourselves as privateers or even acting on behalf of the Tigress's rival (not sure if we asked for the name of that bloke)?

What do you guys think? Maybe pose as agents of this Heracles Nydax acting on his behalf for some urgent errand or this or that? We've been negotiating with the White Tigress, on his behalf, none of the Imperial Navy's business, etc. etc. Or failing that we can just claim to be mercenaries or pirate hunters working for some RT or this or that.

Pirate hunters following rumours of drukhari presence maybe?

Also I cannot wait to stop rolling hot when it's actually a life or death situation.

Question: presumably the Tigress brought the Razor in at the same time as the rest of her fleet (I'm assuming relatively recently?) What did they say it was? Will the Impies recognise it as one of her ships?

Edit: whatever we say, we'll be coming back in a week or two, so it needs to be something where we have a valid reason for returning too?

Edit edit: Do we know of another system that is in a vaguely similar direction to Kataris, and a similar distance away? We could be taking something there and then coming back? (Lone escorts are often used as courier vessels, whether it's for Tigress, Nydax, or someone else entirely)

It's a former Arbites Strike Cruiser (?), I'm not too familiar with ship class names.

@Mazer Rackham Do I need to be a signatory of a compact to benefit from it? Not too familiar with those rules.

Do we have any idea if and to what extent the Mandeville points are guarded in this system ( and at the target’s side )?

I mean the Dredge slipped in, the Red Wolves did and we shipped out Blackout from Brimstone?
That doesn’t exactly sound like there is full blockade around it ?!

@Mojake good call with hunting the Drukhari as a cover story. Having proof of their presence on hand certainly lends credibility to that. I like it.

Unsure what to do about proof of ownership... Maybe tell a half truth and say we recently acquired the ship as payment assuming it otherwise has a more or less clean record?

Also what does our ident currently show us as being called? I know we are calling the ship Razor's Edge amongst ourselves, but was the ship given a completely clean set of idents and whatnot, as in a blank slate?

Her primary ship is that, correct, but I dont think they were pretending to be an Arbites fleet?

Our ship is just an Iconoclast Destroyer (basic BFG Chaos Escort). But what I meant was, what did they say the Razor was? Did they identify it as part of her fleet? Or was it wiped after being brought into the Ithyca system? Is it still identifiable as the same ship, or is the design non-descript enough that the Impies won't make the connection?

That and the Mandeville "points" would actually be points on the surface of a sphere surrounding the system's star, so we're talking about a potentially massive volume of space to cover, depending upon the mass of the stellar object.

You only know the Razor was acquired recently. I did allude to it IC, but yes, it has clean ID.

This is a nav question you should reasonably know the answer to....but dies anyone have Navigation (Stellar)? Sounds like a good opportunity to use it...

This was alluded to in the IC. What you call her now is completely up to you. Feel free to invent something non-threatening.

'Die All Imperial Bastards' might be a bit much, perchance.

Certainly not. The Argent Requiem was built for the Arbites as a deep-range assault and pirating hunting vessel, but it is not a SM SC. It lacks the armour and some of the facilities, but it makes up for that with more speed, superior augurs and the retention of Bombardment Cannons.

Because nothing says 'shut your foul mouth, rebel scum' like a magma-bomb warhead that could sink a continent.

All that was done was the plates were cleaned. Whatever it did before, any actions or engagements....well, better hope none of the Imperial ships have met her in battle before, eh? The fact she's converted her torps to landing bays is quite distinctive, yet it is also disarming.

What I would also say is that you can choose what colour her hull is. It will have been repainted from her previous fleet colour, so whatever you want to help 'mask' you a bit.

And of course, now we're in the queue to leave, it would look pretty sus if we try to duck out the back way...

Red! No, wait - er - crimson... and black?

Ah thanks, got those confused.

Ah, should have kept that in mind. No worries though, Mourn will do the mission for the love of the game.

If you want to sign into it now, we can do that.

I'd suggest the colours of a non-local, but not totally unknown, Navy Battlefleet? (I know this ship won't be able to pretend it's actual IN, but don't the Merchant Fleets /Chartist Captains often paint their ships to match the colours of their local Battlefleet?)

Anyway, something non-threatening...
