  1. Lovely armies - is the alpha legion serpent on your vehicles free handed? Very impressive regardless!
  2. So I finished brother Telemachus. http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3907_zpsdhfzkat2.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3909_zps4avlji5i.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3914_zps8dqkyhq1.jpg Next up is the Praetor! By the way guys - I need some help with the outline of my army list. I'm not currently able to play, So i just need it in order to direct my purchases and the expansion of my army, I'm considering: Aim: approx. 1000 points. Terminator captain Sanguinary priest 5x DC assault marines with chaplain 5x assault terminators w heavy flamer 3x Centurion devastators 3x Primaris aggressors (love the models) Something that flies (stormraven gunships, land speeders?) I don't care about tournament viability, but it would be nice to have a remote chance of winning something. However, I firmly maintain that I'd rather lose 99% of my battles, than I would disgrace the battlefield with a single space marine tank, as they are all so ugly that they should be banned. Cheers!
  3. Thank you all for the kind words. It's the reason I'm going for an elite army, with as few units as possible ;) I'll see how long my patience lasts, but I would be glad to assemble 1000 points. I will try to speed paint a unit of death company. We'll see how that goes!
  4. Soon done with the second terminator: http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3898_zpstduq7cr0.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3896_zpsmsfnnhji.jpg I'm building a close combat terminator squad - with a heavy flamer and 2x paired lightning claws planned so far. I'm somewhat i doubt however, as to whether or not I should include one thunder hammer or chain fist in the squad. What do you think? What about combi weapons (melta, plasma, flamer?). I want the unit to be fairly versatile, able to punch through both infantry and heavy armour.
  5. Thank you all for the kind words!! Very much appreciated :) After some mandatory christmas activities this weekend, painting resumes tomorrow. Thanks! It's from GW - industrial bases I think they're called. You're right - I have considered to create a sub-chapter, inspired by the BA main chapter, as I'm no fan of orthodoxy and I like to follow my whim when it comes to colour scheme. I have also chosen to give several marines black shoulder pads, not red ones. I am actually considering omitting the assault marines altogether in favour of some primaris, but I remain undecided..
  6. Very authentic looking. Would be great for a custodian army.
  7. I love the coherency of your unit's colour scheme. And they radiate a brutality befitting one of the worst traitor legions! How the hell could the emperor not see that coming?? Well done :)
  8. Thanks for the comments! :) So here stands my first terminator, ready to barbecue anyone of questionable moral character. The base still needs a bit of love.. I will see what can be done! http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3882_zpsgukz7zvy.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3880_zpsaolvrffq.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3879_zpsvvic21dp.jpg
  9. Finished the lower body of the first terminator: http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3858_zpsgy7kog8b.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3859_zpsmycbwuwj.jpg Cataphractii armour is such a joy to paint. There are so many lovely sharp angles and its so rich in detail! I won't speed paint these guys, nor the praetor leading the squad, as they will constitute the centerpiece of my army. I will try to make more rapid progress with the rest of the marines, and I will alternate between painting terminators meticulously and painting the regular marines to a tabletop standard. Feedback appreciated :)
  10. Thanks for the encouragement :) So this is a freehand experiment (I'm not great at drawing or freehand in general) on the first terminator's shoulder pad. http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3857_zpsl44xrbsb.jpg I'm thinking about equipping each terminator with a single black shoulder pad, containing a death mask-like face with a different expression. Any tips for painting freehand faces like this? Any good pictures of good expressions? It's difficult to squeeze in much detail, as the shoulder pad width is only 4-5 millimetres.. But that won't stop me from trying ;)
  11. Hello I had a BA army thread running here last year. I'm now returning to my project of trying to build a BA army, after a break. My progress has tended to be extremely slow, but I have more time to paint now due to a hiatus from work, so I should be able to get produce some marines! 2/5 in my assault marine squad completed: http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3851_zpssobmdmrs.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3846_zpsiad3uz5o.jpg The first marine from the death company squad (the matte varnish from Vallejo messed the black up completely in some places, I will try to fix it later on): http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3853_zpsgyerwp1x.jpg The first of my Cataphractii terminator unit, led by a praetor: http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_3852_zpsufs1mw18.jpg
  12. Thanks for your reply, Jolemai! I realise that I urgently need to re-acquaint myself with some of the basic rules and concepts. Which edition is running currently? I would love to build an army of mostly terminators and as few regular marines as possible. I don't require my list to be competitive, just legal ;)
  13. Hi guys! Getting back into the hobby after a year's absence. I'm taking a pause from work and will now direct all my creative energies into reviving my blood angels army project! So, in order to direct my efforts I need to work towards an army list. I'm thinking 500-1000 points to start off with. Do you know of any good army lists including terminators, death company and assault marines (as troop choice)? And preferably as few tanks as possible. ;) I have browsed through the army list forum a few times, but I can't find anything appealing at first glance... Thanks
  14. My knowledge of tactics is a fossil from 1-2 years ago.. I have the new codex, but I didn't realize anything had changed in the meantime.
  15. Oh my.. Sigh! I'll have to play more efficiently with my assault marines in that case, I guess..
  16. The army lists that I came across always included assault marines instead of tactical marines, claiming that the former better utilized the advantages of being BA. I have no acumen into the details of this attitude, but it seemed legit and quite widespread, so I accepted it. :)
  17. So - I FINALLY finished my force commander. I originally planned to make him a battle brother, but after i learned that tactical marines in a BA-army are a waste of points, I redubbed him commander. Freehand on both shoulders + the banner. http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2217_zps2hemyusr.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2223_zpsxu9ajcpi.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2224_zpscy5chfwc.jpg
  18. Great looking squad Leonatos! Is the pattern on his shield done by freehand?
  19. Hey guys, So, due to a current moving project I haven't painted much for the last few weeks. I did manage to finish my first assault marine the other night, though. I still need to learn to speed paint, but I reckon I'm making progress as this guy took 5-10 hours to paint, in comparison to the >20 hours i poured into painting my captain (who still isn't finished) http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2185_zpspal3gevm.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2184_zpsk8zunba0.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2182_zpsg8fhyqjm.jpg
  20. @Luthermax: Thanks! I use merchite red for a basecoat, highlighting with blood red and finally firey orange. Shades are done with washes of thraka green and abaddon black. @Tortura: Great model! I love your metals, how did you paint the brass/gold parts?
  21. Hi guys! I was recently made aware of the existence of this thread, so I figure I'll join my fellow BA hobbyists in this parade of great models! Some very inspiring models you guys have put out, great to see! I am just returning to the hobby after a 1-year break. Some of you may have seen my models in my own old BA wip thread in the WIP section of the forum. Here are some shots of my force commander (still lacking his backpack and banner however) and my first assault marine: http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2028_zpsne5fmywj.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2027_zpsurioo8r4.jpg http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2026_zpsgnon460j.jpg Assault marine: http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2020_zps6afmh7rk.jpg?t=1434811489 http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2024_zpshdubcgcp.jpg?t=1434811492 http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss217/ghaffasagris/IMG_2025_zpshmrvpvwa.jpg?t=1434811492
  22. Lovely BA's you've got going there! I am very impressed at the volume of models you've managed to produce at that standard. Very inspiring!
  23. I love that purple - it's very vivid and it's got some nice depth! If you don't mind me asking - what is your recipe? :)
