Hello guys. I have been painting my fists and I kinda wanted to have a place in which to showcase my army as i paint them, play some games and maybe write random stuff about their fluff. I still have to work on the bases (because i don't really like the ones i've painted) but i will leave that for the last so i can base the whole army consistently when all the paint is done. As i have models from both 30k and 40k in this army I kinda wanted to do their fluff since the heresy. Edit: I removed the squads bit because it was really long, difficult to update (because i always change projects) and largely unnecessary

Hi folks. Long time since I've posted to the site so I thought I might try something out. As of late, I've come into a lot of free time but absolutely no motivation to paint my imperial fists and with my goal to finish my entire army by the end of the year this as well as the new Anno game coming out is not helping. Ive decided to start this WIP blog sorta thing to help keep me motivated to my goal so I can eventually start a new project. Starting roughly 2 years ago, my Imperial Fists army has come to include an entire 3rd battle company (updated to guillimans new codex also including some primaris), a small armoured battle group, scout auxiliary force and a small 1st company detachment. Ive finished painting probably half of the collection with about a third based and shaded. All of the other models have been assembled and primed ready to go so I at least have an end point to go by. So here are some pictures of some of my already finished marines. Sorry for the bad image quality. And what is currently on my painting desk: I will try to post regularly with updates. Any words of motivation are welcome. If you would like to see more of what ive done, just let me know.

Getting a 1st Company Task Force and Stormbringer Squadron ready for my play-style of Imperial Fists. Lotta weathering and crew to do (and the lighting sources are different so tone's a bit mixed)

IMPERIAL FISTS EXPANSION IV Are you are loyal Son of Dorn who has models to paint but no motivation? Are you part of the Emperor's finest and wish to beat the snot out of those cowardly Iron Warriors who hide behind their walls with their so-called "big guns"? If this sounds like you, welcome to the fourth edition of the Imperial Fists Expansion! An event that started out very small with only a handful of Frater joining in the fun which has now grown in size and popularity among the Sons of Dorn here on the B&C. Last year we managed to have twenty-five participants with twelve of them emerging as victors over the forces of Chaos that had spilled forth from the Eye of Terror. This year shall be a little different though; indeed the Iron Warriors have seen us muster for painting war and have started gathering their own forces to try and challenge us. This is why I turn to you now, brothers and sisters, children of Rogal Dorn, to join the fight and to give the Iron Warriors and their miserable allies a beating they shall remember until the End of Time. Rise, Sons of Dorn! Mankind calls and we shall answer! Raise shields and stand firm! Blood shall be spilt and glory shall be had! Rise, in the name of Dorn and the Emperor! OUTLINE The Imperial Fists Expansion (IFE) is an event open to all Sons of Dorn, whether in the disant past of M30/M31 or in the dark future of the 41st Millennium, with the aim of getting your unpainted models out of boxes and onto the painting table! You will have four months to paint as many models/points as possible. Since we are competing against the Iron Warriors, the aim shall be to paint more points than they have in the same time frame. While you will only be able to vow Codex-legal units, there will be one small exception that I will cover later on for people who just want to paint a one-off model to test out a colour scheme, join in the fun without committing to paint too much, or both! Reward-wise, there shall be two types: personal rewards shall be in the shape of signature banners for each and every person who completes their vow(s) in the given time and if we beat the Chaos side (which we will ), I shall craft a victory banner for us to proudly display as the winning team. For those of you who are new to this, you might want to check out last year's event to get a feel of what it shall be like (ie. heaps of fun). For the veterans... welcome back, battle-scarred Astartes! RULES The rules for this event are simple: 1. TEAMS You pick a side between the Imperial Fists and their successors or the Iron Warriors and their splinter groups. If you are reading this, the choice is already made. Welcome to the winning team, Frater. 2. VOWS Every participant on either side must make at least one (1) and up to a maximum of seven (7) vows. Each of these vows must have at least one (1) and up to four (4) Codex-legal units. There is no limit on points. To be accepted, the vow must be posted either in this thread (for the Sons of Dorn) or the Iron Without thread (for the Sons of Perturabo) using the following format (minor variations accepted): It is crucial to note the following things:If you fail to complete one vow, then all previous vows are considered void and do not count towards the final points total; You must start work on your vow after having submitted it. Miniatures that are entered into the challenge must be unpainted, undercoated, or in the very early stages of painting. If you are unsure whether or not your models qualify for entry, please ask. A vow must be completed before another is made. Also, once submitted, a vow cannot be modified in any shape or form so think before you pledge! 3. VICTORY Once the event is over and the dust has settled, a number of things shall happen. Firstly, for all of those who have successfully completed all of their vows, there shall be a signature banner celebrating their personal success and the upkeep of their promise. Wear it with pride as you continue your activities on the Bolter & Chainsword! Secondly, Lord Thorn and I shall have the wonderful task of going through all of the vows and do the tally of successful vows to determine which of the two teams is the winner. The winning team will receive a special signature badge to celebrate victory over their rivals. DEADLINES FIRST VOW START DATE: Saturday 20th August 2016 PAINTING START DATE: Saturday 27th August 2016 FIRST VOW DEADLINE: Saturday 17th September 2016, at 18:00 GMT PAINTING END DATE: Saturday 3rd December 2016, at 18:00 GMT All deadlines shall be strictly observed. Make sure you give yourself enough time to post your vows and then complete them to avoid any disappointment! There shall be no exceptions! LEGAL UNITS Each vow must be made up of at least one unit from the latest Codex: Space Marines, Imperial Armour Vol 2 - War Machines of the Adeptus Astartes, the Angels of Death supplement, or the relevant Forge World Horus Heresy books and dataslates. These can be mixed and matched but their source must be clear. If you have any doubts, please ask. There is one exception to this rule for the people who just want to join in for a bit of fun without painting masses of models: You can vow a single, infantry-sized model (in power armour and variants or Terminator armour) of your choice as your first vow. No other units can be pledged in this first vow and you can only make such a vow once during the whole event. Whatever the wargear choice, model in game terms, etc. this entry will always have a fixed value of 50 points. This is to give people the opportunity to model and paint a one-off model of their choice while also allowing them to contribute to the overall effort. Deathwatch The question has come up a couple of times whether Dornian Deathwatch members are allowed or not. While you cannot use the units in Codex: Deathwatch, most of them have equivalents in Codex: Space Marines so if you'd like to paint up a unit in Deathwatch colours which is made up 100% of Imperial Fists and/or successors, feel free to do so! IMPORTANT: It goes without saying that all models must represent a member of the Imperial Fists Chapter/Legion or one of their many successors. It also goes without saying that all vowed models must respect WYSIWYG as much as possible. Last but not least, your models must be anywhere between a 'still-in-box' state to assembled and basecoated with the main colour to be accepted. If unsure, please ask in the General Banter thread or PM me. TROPHIES Since we are doing this event in tandem with the Iron Warriors B&C community, Lord Thørn and I have decided to introduce the concept of trophies. Trophies are a way to add detail to your models while also giving you a small points bonus for the overall points score. The given bonus will be a +10% point increase (rounding down) for the trophy'd unit when we do the totals at the end of the event. To be eligible, at least 50% of the unit's models need to have a trophy. For example, in the case of a Dreadnought unit made up of one Dreadnought, you only need to add a single element to the Dreadnought's base (a split helmet) for it to be considered trophy'd. However in a five-man Tactical Squad, three of the five models need to have a trophy for the unit to be considered trophy'd. In the case of a ten-man Squad, at least five models must have a trophy. A trophy can be one of the following (non-exhaustive list):The helmet of a fallen warrior; A banner that has been cast down; The burning remains of armour/a vehicle; Etc It goes without saying that these trophies must represent the opposing team (in our case, Iron Warriors) and must immediately recognisable as such. BANNERS 300 x 100 px http://image.bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_11559/gallery_45765_11559_29798.png 33 x 100 px http://image.bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_11559/gallery_45765_11559_3638.png IMPORTANT STUFF Out-of-competiton vows There could be cases that what people want to build/paint cannot be reconciled with the rules posted above. For example, some might want to do crazy conversions or scratch builds; others might want to paint miniatures from other gaming systems, such as Epic, BFG, etc; some might miss the deadline for joining in; or some want to paint models which aren't included within the allowed Codecies and books. It’s also a possibility that some cases people might want to paint miniatures from the rival team (HERESY! ). With that in mind, out-of-competition vows are allowed and can be added to the Rules & Vow thread (this one) but shall not be counted towards the team totals at the end of the event! You are expected to finish your vow(s) however so make sure you get them done by the deadline! If unsure... I could put whole list of other things here but most of that is common sense. However, if you have any questions concerning anything that might be unclear or not mentioned in the post above, please do not hesitate to ask by posting or by sending me a PM! The most important rule of all Have fun! Ave Imperator!

Sons of Dorn, The Eye of Terror has opened yet again. Tzeentch's daemonic legions, the treacherous Thousand Sons, and even their twisted Daemon-Primarch Magnus, have emerged from the Warp and are causing untold destruction to the worlds around Cadia. The Imperial Fists and their successors, stalwart defenders of the Imperium and its people, the Emperor's Praetorians, must push back this tide of horrors and liberate as many Imperial worlds as they can. Round up your neophytes, fire up your forges, arm your battle-brothers! The time of ending is near and the sons of Dorn shall not be found wanting... Start: Wednesday 1st March End: Friday 31st March @ 23:59 GMT/UTC How it works: 1) You look at your collection and pick at least one model to paint. The selected models can be assembled, undercoated and/or basecoated with their main colour. No more. If unsure, ask me. I reserve the right to disqualify models which do not stick to this rule. 2) Take a picture of these models, upload it to an online gallery (preferably B&C), and post it in this thread along with a vow stating the number of models to complete by the 31st March and any other details you deem to be relevant (be creative). Once you've made your vow, no changes to it can be made unless I approve those changes (so send me a PM if you need to change something). 3) Paint the models to at least a basic, three-colour standard within the given timeframe (no obligation to base the models but highly encouraged). The colour scheme must be either from the Imperial Fists Chapter/Legion, an official successor, a DIY successor, or the Deathwatch Chapter (but with one shoulder pad painted in the colours of a son of Dorn). No other Chapters shall be allowed. 4) Once finished, take the best pictures you possibly can, upload them, and post them here for all to see. 5) If you have completed your vow, make a second/third/fourth/fifth/sixth/seventh/eighth/ninth/etc vow and continue to bring glory to yourself! 6) Patiently wait the end of the event and the publication of the end results. 7) During the whole while, have fun! Last but not least, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or to PM me! Now, let us prepare for war and give Chaos a good kick in the teeth. This smaller event is set to begin in March and will last a month. The format will be different from the original Walls Fail, Fists Do Not event and will instead resemble the Ultramarines' Reinforcement Rush in more ways than one. So, with those few hints given, prepare your models and make sure you don't miss this golden opportunity to kick Chaos in the teeth again.

So I have a problem... I'm very much a hobby butterfly. I make progress on all my projects, just not usually on the same project. And I start way more projects than I finish. As a result of this, I've got a number of dead project logs across the B&C, some for projects I started years ago and am still making progress on, but I figure nobody wants to see a project update once every other year. I know I don't, but such is the curse of my hobby attention span. To remedy this, I humbly present Seneschal's Forge-Fane, a single thread for all my various 40k projects, where hopefully I can show some progress on some project every once and a while. I love the community on B&C, and y'all's input and feedback is extraordinarily helpful and valuable to me. Hopefully y'all will enjoy reading this thread as much as I will making it. I'll start each section with the below icon for the relevant faction, which will help (me!) keep everything straight. This post will serve as a table of contents for the thread - to the extent that I can keep it straight! Sgt Garadon of the Imperial Fists 3rd Company http://i.imgur.com/EiuXoPj.jpg So I finally got a metal Pedro Kantor from ebay, I have been wanting this miniature for a long time to act as a template for none other than Sgt Garadon. I will briefly go over what other components my model has; Marneus Calgars power pack sheathed bolter from an attack bike MK IV sgt head oop SM Commander left arm Black Reach terminator halo commissar bolt pistol SM sniper rifle barrel Pedro Kantors torso Eldar Revenant Titan face plate http://i.imgur.com/St4ld7M.jpg So Sgt Garadon has no model, he will most likely forever be trapped in 6th/7th Edition because of it. However I still have my 6th edition books and don't plan to give up on it, the 8th edition is very different I would like to play both. For those of you who don't know this is a HQ choice from the Sentinels of Terra supplement codex. He has the stats of a standard SM captain with the exception of being upgraded from a tactical squad sergeant and costing a total of 75 points. He can't take upgrades, though comes with a bolt pistol that ignores cover and a standard power fist. The squad he upgrades from is changed from troop choice to HQ choice. Hes cost efficient and great for bolstering an army. http://i.imgur.com/HygPB4Z.jpg Let me know what you think so far, cheers

Good evening, I'm new to the forums and like all of you I am going to be new to 8th Edition. I like to be competitive on a casual level, if that makes sense. I have a few concerns and queries about my army in particular and I hope to get some constructive feedback. I collect Imperial Fists heavily based on the 'Sentinels of Terra' supplement codex as well as being a drop pod assault themed army. To begin with my two main concerns are Sgt Garadon and drop pods. Sgt Garadon is my HQ of choice throughout 7th edition, he is a character upgraded from a tactical squad sergeant for a total of 75 points making the squad a HQ choice. He has the rule set of a captain and can take no additional upgrades, his wargear is simply a special bolt pistol that ignores cover called the 'spartein', a standard power fist and of-course an iron halo. He isn't in the index's or codex's for 8th edition, yet various youtubers have promised that supplements will come within the year. With the new rule (I don't know its name) to do with special characters not being able to join units? I'm not certain I will get my Sgt Garadon back at all, can anyone shed some light or education for me here? Secondly and possibly my largest concern being drop pods tripling in point cost. I currently have 7 drop pods in my 2000 odd 7th edition point list, all together I have my captain as above, 6 tactical squadrons and 3 devastator squadrons with a aegis defence line. With money always a large deciding factor when it comes to warhammer I don't want to have to replace any of my army, my main question being can i play this army at a casually competitive level or am I going to loose a lot more games? Chapter Tactics + Supplement benefits My Devastators before had a special rule known as tank hunter allowing me to re-roll wounds if they did not penetrate. Also my army was built to accommodate the boltor drill from my chapter tactics. Neither of these are in 8th edition as far as I know. Though my devastators will be able to split fire now making them more powerful, loosing these two rules has really broke the spirit of my army, and my own. Again various youtubers are convinced we will get chapter tactics and supplements within the following year, what do you think? To summarize; So far from what I have gathered specifically about my army isn't looking good. The point trade off with drop pods, loosing my chapter rules and the daunting concern of having to replace my HQ has puts me off the new edition. Not only this but there is icing on the cake, I have a really bad feeling Primaris Marines are going to replace the Space Marines completely and sadly the fluff behind it could have been better, but this is a different topic for another thread. Thanks in advance for any constructive feedback

Hey everyone, I was about to start building a IF army before the news of 8th ed started appearing, so put stuff on hold. Now with some leaked rules and launch fast approaching I'd like some opinions on loadouts for my tartaros terminators. I'm thinking 10 man squad combat squading into team a) sergeant with plasma and chainfist, 2 chainfist and bolters and 2 fist and bolters b.) 2 reaper cannons with lightning claws, 3 bolters with light claws. a) would teleport in and try to assault stuff, b.) would sit back and lay out some dakka. Lightning claws are for point savings. Thoughts? I have 20 tartaros waiting to be built haha

I made a write-up of how the different legions fought in space based on the novels and the Forge Word Books. I thought I'd post the Imperial Fist section here. Criticism, correction and additional info are always welcome. Equipment and Supply: The Imperial Fists pride themselves on their discipline and stoicism, maintaining a well drilled fighting force that had a very good supply chain thanks to their proximity to Terra. Not to mention access to the best equipment and machinery the Mechanicus could equip them with as befitting their role as guardians of Mankinds throne world. As such, they were able to obtain several Battleship and Cruiser class vessels in addition to their considerable Astartes Specific void vessels (Strike Cruisers, Battle Barges etc.) Tactics and Strategy: Imperial Fists during space combat tend to deploy a large number of medium to heavy class vessels (Battleships/Cruisers) like most Space Marine Legions. However, they did make use of their lighter Destroyers and Frigates as well, mostly as torpedo boats to soften up targets for their larger ships. These smaller ships don't tend to last long in their battles and perhaps it is a reflection of the Imperial Fist doctrine of self sacrifice that they consider it a success that they achieve their objective even if it entails the loss of their craft. Their almost fanatical dedication to discipline has resulted in finely trained ship crews that are able to co-ordinate their movements with the larger fleet to terrifying effect and execute fleet maneuvers that would seem impossible to other Legions. The Battle of Phall This is the same state of readiness and constant drills that allowed a third of the Imperial Fist fleet led by Captain Alexis Polux to be victorious against a massive flotilla the Iron Warriors ship numbering in the hundreds commanded by the Primarch Perturabo. As the Iron Warriors charged forwards in a conical formation, their heaviest void vessels to the fore, hoping to get up close with the Imperial Fist fleet, Polux's plan came into action. The loyalist ships executed perfect strike and evasion maneuvers on an individual level. Combined with the co-ordinated fleet movement, resulted in the Iron Warriors passing right through the loyalists like a "fist through smoke". The superior engines and machinery installed on the Imperial Fist vessels was also a factor that allowed them to be much more maneuverable than their counterparts and easily outflank them. The Fists then viciously picked apart the traitor fleet by attacking it on all sides, surrounding their "cone". The Iron Warriors were badly mauled and Perturabo's flagship was even boarded at one point in the battle. Although the battle would end in a loyalist retreat due to external forces, this remains a terrifying example of Imperial Fist void combat strategy.

Let me start at the beginning, Just as burning of prospero dropped I had decided to turn my faith towards the yellow love for the emperor, I knew this project would take a long time due to personal reasons but I started planning my army and amassing models. I discovered that the lovely yellow fellas could build the best walls and decided I'd focus my army around an Aquila strongpoint. And then the news of 8th started to gain momentum and everything went on a bigger pause than usual. Now I have the 2 imperial indexes, 2 sets of the primaris marines, 20 scouts, a bunch of unbuilt tartaros and mk3 marines, 2 bastions, 2 aegis lines and an Aquila strongpoint. I'm ready to rock, but am wondering how feasible my plans are going to be in 8th. The Aquila strongpoint takes up a large chunk of points, and although it has been buffed in a few ways it has been nurfed in the fact that it can only take one unit+characters. Also the rules for emplaced guns no longer exist really so it is always bs5+, and shoots the closest target if not embarked upon. I am currently thinking maybe a lascannon devastator squad with a few extra bodies for when it collapses. However another issue is that this unit won't be buffable while embarked, I hope that this will be offset by the defence of the Fort but time will tell. With the tartaros I was going to use them as 2 units of 20, all teleporting in and either trying to get behind the enemy or stay midfield. This strategy has changed now, I am planning 2 units of 10 with 2 reapers each, combat squading them so that 2 reapers and 3 lightning claw guys hang back and the other 5 guys armed more for cc and teleporting in nice and close. The 2 teleporting squads will have a terminator captain joining them for the rerolls. From here I'm not sure what to do with the rest of my army, I'm thinking having the scouts deployed in the middle of the field preferably in some cover to help counter reserves arriving too close to the Fort. Is this all seeming OK logic wise? Am I missing something significant? Has 8th killed my plans? Thank you brothers (and sisters)

I've been playing around with the Index since release, just musing over the various entries, and came up with this one based on the Company Veterans entry. If I'm reading it correctly, you can arm them all with combi-weapons and storm shields. My imagination immediately went to a 5 man squad armed with combi-flamers and storm shields in the tight corridors of a space hulk - and they feel right to me in terms of fluff for the Sons of Dorn. Up to 40 shots a turn from this squad in rapid-fire range, and they can tank some serious return fire. They also remain relatively mobile as they're in power armour. Park them next to a captain and apothecary to buff them as a boarding party. Thought it would be a fun, if expensive, concept. Any thoughts on this as a unit?

What do you fellow fists feel is our best anti tank tool, so far I have tried multimelta drop pod, 4 lascannon preds, missile launcher/lascannon dev squads. None of them feel as good the old drop pod melta 1 or two shot pop a tank. (Which I feel the change is healthy for the game) What have you tried so far? Where was your best success? ....I really miss tank hunter....

First off, hello all. After lurking in your thread and having my mind blown by all the yellow, I finally have something worthwhile to add. I think. By way of introduction, I should say that I am first and foremost a Black Templar player. However, those of us who are one of Dorn's own, have a little bit of the Fists in us and you never really know when it's going to come out. For me, I thought it was going to be for Horus Heresy. Although there was quite a bit to be excited about regarding the VII Legion, from a modeling and gaming perspective, HH never really took off in our group. Part of the challenge was the fact that I could very easily get the Legion book and then play Scouring Era lists with my Templars and call it done. It was important that any Fists army I came up with play differently than my Templars. I didn't just want the same thing, but in "Yellow". Then 8th Edition came out... And the Primaris... And suddenly, it was game on. I just love the new Primaris models. I love how easy they go together, the SWAT poses the bolters have, the very cool looking new armor. This has been a real win as far as I am concerned. Which started the creative juices flowing. In particular, I decided to opt for a blend of concepts to get me where I want to go with my Primaris. I don't see them being included in my Tempars Crusade, but I could see them as supplemental forces attached to the crusade. So, to harken back to our "roots", my first squad of Primaris Fists will be in the livery of the Legion during the Unification Wars and possibly the early Great Crusade. I'm not sure about that last part, as I don't have Book III of the HH, but it seems like a reasonable assumption. So this is an approximation of what I'd like my Primaris squad to look like. Now, it won't look exactly like that because the armor variants are different and I wanted a little more color on the figures. One of the changes is that I intend to have yellow on both pauldrons. Also, I guess if you aren't familiar with my style of painting, I prefer a desaturated look, thus you're not going to see "yellow' Yellow on my Fists, but something with a little more brown in it. To be exact, my base yellow color is VMC Yellow Ochre. So, here is a WIP shot of the first squad. I really wish the Primaris could come in squads of 10, but until that happens in a codex, then I'll just paint 10 guys the same. One of the great things about taking pics of your work is that you can really see all the things you need to fix a lot better. In fact, pictures of single figures are one of the best ways of humbling yourself I've ever discovered. Once I get the colors shaped up, I'll continue the self-flagellation by attempting to put this iconography on the shoulder pads. The icon on the left with the Legion number will go on the right shoulder pad and the eagle head on the right. While I was doing research on our history, I came across the "Roma" honorific, which immediately got stuck in my head. So, I intend to add that honorific to the figures and for some reason keep coming back to the phrase, "7th Legion, Roma Division". For some reason, I just like the sound of that. tl;dr: Honda does Primaris Fists Cheers,

Ugh, so I had typed this long intro to the thread but as I went to post it, I accidentally hit the back button and it erased everything. Back buttons on the mouse is a bad idea, hate the guy who invented that. So...quick summary this time. New edition of 40k has hit and some new primaris marines are just super cool looking. I have decided to do an imperial fist army, an actual official army instead of my usual DIY routes. I chose the 5th company because I like the color scheme better than the 3rd, and frankly I am not sure painting other companies look as good as those two and the first due to the color clashing of the shoulder pad trim. My army will consist of 21 other non primaris marines, but those will be painted after I finish the primaris marines. I have 1 ten man tac squad, 1 six man devestator squad, a 5 man assault squad, a razorback for the devs, and a contemptor dreadnought that can go along with the primaris marines (for now). I am creating a post indomitus crusade 5th company, so the 21 normal marines will be all that is left in the fifth company that haven't gone through the primaris upgrade. So here is a group shot of just the primaris primed after getting them assembled this weekend. And here is a WIP close up shot of the interceptor sergeant. I decided to start with them so i can get them attached to their bases, and finished their helmets first because they are recessed into the armor. The rest of the model is still being worked on. All pics have been taken with my phone so the lighting isn't that great. When I can get a chance after the units are painted, I will see if I can't get a better shot of them in better lighting.

According to Lexicanum these are the known successors of the VIIth Legion and I have been wondering what Chapters collect and/or play. This is a public poll to show the variety of Chapters present in this subforum which will then allow us to promote inspiration and discussion about lesser-known Chapters as well as the more popular ones. It would also be great to see and hear more from those who play the lesser known options, their motivations and opinion on the Chapter at the present day. Note - this is a public poll so people will see your choices. Also, if you try to view the result prior to posting, your vote will be nullified (and there's nothing I can do about it) so please vote first.

I've been painting yellow for years. I've been collecting imperial fists for over 10 years. I've quite a collection together but most of it painted back before GW released the newer style of washes. However I picked up a box of primaris recently and in a month have already put together a respectful amount of models. They really are the best space marine models gw have ever done. I just wanted to show them off here.

I've been wanting to do this for quite a while. A few years in fact. I've been a fan of the Imperial Fists for a long time now and have always struggled to paint yellow, despite having tried a few dozen times. Perhaps my fear of the unknown (in this case, white undercoat spray) stopped me from making any progress or perhaps it was the discovery that I had HBS (Hobby Butterfly Syndrome) and so assumed that it was a valid excuse for my pathetic lack of progress, but whatever the case, I could not paint yellow and thus collect the army of my dreams. (Such melodrama! ) A few days ago, I received the new Tactical Squad kit from a friend of mine and was wondering which Chapter I'd start collecting after having spent such a long time without any sort of primary focus. Ultramarines were my first choice since they got a nice set of rules and, apart from the name and some odious fluff that I have chosen to ignore, I do really like them. Besides blue is probably one of my favourite colours. However, I discovered a can of white spray paint that I had purchsed at the begining of the summer to try out. My first attempts were horrible as the paint seemed to have that frost-effect that ruins your model, but I thought I'd give it another go on one of the Space Marines I had just assembled. A few days later, I ended up with this: http://i.imgur.com/Bubsh9U.jpg?2http://i.imgur.com/UWZNxGJ.jpg?3 http://i.imgur.com/TDzeDk4.jpg?2http://i.imgur.com/V5R0iF4.jpg?2 I was going to give up at least once along the way, but instead told myself to man-up and just finish him for the sake of being able to show that I can actually fully paint a model once in a while Since those pictures were taken I have advanced quite a bit and have covered up most of the wash overspill, covered the white parts with black paint (except the pouches, because they'll be brown and I have no more brown paint for the moment), started to paint the eyes purple and have added a bit more shading to the metallic parts. I didn't take any pictures of my progress because of the atrocious lighting so I'll upload some more pictures on Monday. Anyway, hopefully I'll manage to paint up the whole squad in yellow as I'm actually really enjoying the painting process and have leared quite a bit from my (stupid) mistakes. As always, any C&C or encouragement is welcome! Cheers, Ludo

"Primarch-Progenitor, to your glory and the glory of him on earth!" Hello everyone, This here will chronicalise the formation of my Imperial Fists Chapter. Once Forge World announced that they were releasing books for the Horus Heresy Era, I had to make a Pre-Heresy army. And what better Legion to build other than the Imperial Fists? The Legion whose Primarch was elected to the rank of Warmaster after Horus fell to the ruinous powers, and charged with the responsibility to fortify the home planet and fortress to our Lord Emperor! Anyway, formalities out of the way... blah blah blah... Here is my current HQ choice (unless my Black Templars Marshal stands in as Lysander. I'm currently working on purchasing a metal one) This is my Librarian whose power of choice is Psychic Shriek. A Nasty power that has destroyed many. Has already brought down a Wraithknight turn 1! Haha! My current project: Rogal Dorn. Now this isn't a Games Workshop model. This is actually one from a company called Kabuki. This is no longer available as only 500 were made. I actually had to buy this one at a high price off of ebay. Tactical Marines: 1st Squad (A Roman Numeral 1 is on their right shoulder (left side) showing that they are from 1st Squad. I also have a 2nd and I'm working on a 3rd pretty soon.) My first attempt at source lighting on this plasma gun here. Not the best but I feel that I did a decent job. Techmarines from my two Thunderfire Cannons. I like to run a fluffy list so I do a lot of defense. And for competitiveness I bring in some drop pods to deliver crippling blows. Dreadnought with two autocannons. Used the Ironclad body because it just fits the Imperial Fists perfectly. The missiles on top are just for show. And some Sternguard. Gotta love the Sternguard. Always run at least two squads of ten in drop pods.

I just played a 2k game against Black Templar with Imperial Fist allies. His was more of a test for IF allies, mine was a test for DA allies. My list: HQs Shrike Sammael(Corvex) Elites Vanguard Vet Squad - x10 Jump packs, 4x PWs, Sarge with P Axe and SS (RG) Venerable Dread - Drop Pod, MM Troops Sniper Scout Squad (DA) Tactical Marines - x10, Meltagun (RG) Scouts in LSS, Bolters (RG) Fast Attack Assault Marine Squad - x10 men, Meltabomb, CS, PW Ravenwing Black Knights x5 (DA) Heavy Stormraven - TLMM, TLPC(RG) Thunderfire ADL/Quadgun His list(Best I can recall): Emperors Champion IF Captain with PF Master of the Forge Conversion Beamer Command Squad with Apothecary Drop Pod x5 Man Crusader Squad x5 Man Sniper Scouts x10 Man IF Tac Heavy Bolter x10 Man IF Tac Heavy Bolter x9 Man Sternguard x5 Combi-melta x4 combi-plas Drop Pod x10 Man Vanguard with a large assortment of PW and SS loaded for bear ADL/Quadgun Mission: The Scouring Deployment: Dawn of War Deployment He won the roll off, he deployed first. There were a lot of ruins and some mysterious terrain. The objectives were almost perfectly divided. His ADL/QG were front on center with an objective behind it and a tall ruin. He put both Tac squads on either side of the QG behind the ADL with the MotF above and behind them in the ruin. The crusader squad was on my left in a ruin towards the left midfield objective. I deployed my TFC on my right flank in a ruin and the ADL/QG on my left using the ruin to box in an objective and put my AMs in it at the edge of my deployment. The BK/Sammael were outflanking. My Tac squad was in the 'Raven. I won the roll off for infiltrators. I put my Sniper Scouts in the ruin above the objective. Shrike on the VV infiltrated into a body of water 12" (LoS blocked by a ruin) from his right Tac squad, near the edge of my right and center tile edge. I put my LSS right next to them for the jamming beacon on the tile edge and behind another ruin. He put his Sniper Scouts in a ruin to my far right next to the board edge and an objective. I did not try to seize. The hunt had begun. Turn 1 Night-fighting in effect. The objective next to his IF tacs was worth 4 points, mine was worth 3, the one on the left was worth 1 and the center-ish one was worth 3 and the one near my TFC was worth 2 and the one near his snipers was worth 2. His objective was a grav-wave generator. The others were too far away. He was going to drop his Stern/IF Cap next to Shrike but he realized my LSS had a jamming beacon(He had fallen for it a few games back already) so he tried to drop it exactly 12" away almost in the exact center of the board. It scatted 10" in front of his QG. Bonus! He disembarked them on the opposite side of my VV/Shrike towards his ADL. He shuffled his eft IF Tac into the ruin to join with the MotF. His snipers took a wound off my TFC. His Conversion Beamer wounded some AMs but I saved them all. I was too far away/out of LoS for anything else. My QG intercepted his stern and killed 1. My objective was also a grav-wave. Ven Dread came down right next to his DP and in front of the ADL. The Dread disembarked with his DP between it and the QG. My AMs jumped up towards his Stern. VV/Shrike jumped over the ruin and were right in front of the right IF Tac squad. LSS followed the VVs. Snipers killed 2 Sterns. TFC whiffed. Dread ate his DP. First Blood to me. AMs tried to assault his stern but were short, even with WD. I shouldn't have shot at the stern. Their casualties made me fail the charge. VVs easily got into CC with his IF Tac squad. My VV Sarg with PA/SS challened his IF sarge. I lost 1 plain VV and he lost all 9 tac marines. 4 from Shrike alone and the rest from PWs. My sarge died in the challenge. He tried to break but I caught him and we were locked in CC. WHich was good. Turn 2 None of his reserves came in. He moved his stern towards my AMs. He killed off my TFC and killed 3 AMs from everything that could shoot them. Sterns only used bolt pistols. Shrike watched while the VVs killed the IF tac sarge and consolidated 5" towards the ruin with the MotF/IF Tac squad in it. The sterns assaulted my AM's and we tied combat. His captain broke off to fight my dread but a failed invul ID'd him. My 'Raven and BKs came in. I moved the 'Raven up about 20" where a DP blocked LoS from his QG. The BKs came in from the left side, which is where I wanted them. I knew he would send his Champ after Shrike so I wanted to set up Sammael to intercept. Shrike and crew hopped into the ruin with the IF Tacs. My lonely Tech ran towards the snipers. The Snipers/BKs/'Raven killed the crusader squad on the left. PotMS missile took a wound off the QG. Shrike assaulted the Tacs and refused the challenge. His sarg had a PF and I wanted to take no risks with Shrike. the VVs killed all but the MotF and a random Tac. He tried to break but I caught him. My dread charged in with the Stern and my AMs and won 3-1 wounds. He passed morale. Turn 3 His VV and CS/Champ came in. He planted his CS/CHamp right next to the ruin with Shrike. Just as planned. his VV landed next to my Tech. No idea why he did that. My QG intercepted them and killed one. His snipers headshot my Tech. Shrike maimed the MotF and the VV killed the last Tac. I consolidated 5" out of the ruin away from is CHamp. Dread/AM lost combat 2-0 due to the Dread whiffing but didn't break. His VV ran towards the 2 point objective and it was sabotaged and exploded killing none. Sammael and crew moved up next to his ADL and CS/Champ and unloaded killing 2. 'Raven flew up and unloaded killing 2 more. Tacs stayed inside. LSS moved up, scouts jumped out and killed the QG. Shrike and crew joined my Dread/AMs and slaughtered the stern. Sammael made the charge into the Champ and the last Vet. The BKs killed the Vet and Sammael and the Champ did no wounds. Turn 4 My Tacs jumped out and grabbed the 4 pointer. My SNipers huddled around the 3 pointer. His snipers grabbed the 2 pointer and the VVs made a break for my snipers. They were over 48" away so I wasnt worried. At this point he knew it was over so we just did Sammael vs Emperors Champion. Sammael won. Eternal Warrior was key here. Victory 10-3 me. 7 Objective Points, 1 Slay the Warlord, 1 First Blood, 1 Line-breaker. He got 2 Objective Points and Line-breaker. Over all it was fun. I expected his Stormtalon but was surprised he didnt bring it. Shrike/VV and Sammael/BK were two unstoppable pain trains. The support from my 'Raven and Snipers were perfect. Going second with SHrike/VV infiltrating so close was great. My LSS jamming beacon probably won me the game as SHrike/VV got in CC without a single casualty and I only lost 4 VV the whole game as they were in CC every turn they made their points back and more. Sammael is the perfect HQ hunter and Shrike is the perfect assassin. Winged Deliverance did a bunch of wounds but he saved them all. The re-rolls for charge range didnt really affect the game but were a nice back up.

Hello brothers and sisters, children of Dorn all! Welcome to this mini challenge to get people back into this tucked away part of the B&C and to get your painting/writing itch scratched! To keep this as open as possible, I'm keeping the rules simple: You vow to EITHER fully paint a single model representing a Son of Dorn OR you write up a 700 word snippet about a character from Dorn's genetic lineage (Note: entries which do not have the exact number of words allowed shall not be accepted). You may start as of today and must complete your vow by 1st May 2015, 1200 GMT. WIP pictures of your model are not required, but I encourage you paint up a new model and not just re-use an already painted one. Once you have completed your vow, you may post your results in this thread. For completing your vow, you shall receive a special banner to commemorate and celebrate your successful vow! So, brothers and sisters, it is now time to break out your paint servitors/auto-quills and show your dedication to Dorn and the Emperor! Ave Imperator!

He had started his Harpy on the board in turn 1, so it was gliding. (Despite our conversation on our way to GW about starting it in reserves as it would be more dangerous). The harpy took everything I could throw at it for the first turn, surviving with a single wound left. As I went through my psychic phase, targeting every power I had on his genestealers, hid broodlord denied everything, even when I tried to use Force, he managed to deny that too. (My terminators and librarian disembarked after the landraider moved forwards so I could use my powers lol) The only casualty of the turn was, in fact, an assault terminator who failed his save vs the exploding wrecked lander. (Terrain piece) His first turn saw a cautious advance, the harpy glide forwards towards my terminators, and a couple of minor position changes. His shooting phase was effective, no casualties at all. A few large creatures ran to get to a better position, but no assaults. My turn 2 saw an awful lot of carnage. The predator sat still and unleashed on the Tyrannofex, the harpy died, a carnifex went down, last wound taken by a boltgun! I assaulted the haruspex and killed it, to deny its HoW attack. Tyranids turn 2 saw more moving, some shooting (ineffective) and the warriors join against the terminators with the Tyrannofex. We ended it after that really, as my son had lost interest, and got grumpy cos a couple of his biggest monsters were dead. Some pics from the end of my first turn. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/IMG_0150.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/IMG_0149.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/IMG_0151.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/2015%20Models/IMG_0148-1.jpg
