  1. If you don't know I have a youtube channel the Ordo Signa, I make videos about the colours and heraldry of Space Marine Chapters. I just got finished putting out the Imperial Fists. When I'm done I put out a full size video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZPIOYBJ9vI And a playlist of the shorts here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVgPf6Vv7FE&list=PL5UDKnqDLX3KALW0BsBXWB007Awkq51D_&ab_chan Thanks for watching.
  2. I've been wanting to do this for quite a while. A few years in fact. I've been a fan of the Imperial Fists for a long time now and have always struggled to paint yellow, despite having tried a few dozen times. Perhaps my fear of the unknown (in this case, white undercoat spray) stopped me from making any progress or perhaps it was the discovery that I had HBS (Hobby Butterfly Syndrome) and so assumed that it was a valid excuse for my pathetic lack of progress, but whatever the case, I could not paint yellow and thus collect the army of my dreams. (Such melodrama! ) A few days ago, I received the new Tactical Squad kit from a friend of mine and was wondering which Chapter I'd start collecting after having spent such a long time without any sort of primary focus. Ultramarines were my first choice since they got a nice set of rules and, apart from the name and some odious fluff that I have chosen to ignore, I do really like them. Besides blue is probably one of my favourite colours. However, I discovered a can of white spray paint that I had purchsed at the begining of the summer to try out. My first attempts were horrible as the paint seemed to have that frost-effect that ruins your model, but I thought I'd give it another go on one of the Space Marines I had just assembled. A few days later, I ended up with this: http://i.imgur.com/Bubsh9U.jpg?2http://i.imgur.com/UWZNxGJ.jpg?3 http://i.imgur.com/TDzeDk4.jpg?2http://i.imgur.com/V5R0iF4.jpg?2 I was going to give up at least once along the way, but instead told myself to man-up and just finish him for the sake of being able to show that I can actually fully paint a model once in a while Since those pictures were taken I have advanced quite a bit and have covered up most of the wash overspill, covered the white parts with black paint (except the pouches, because they'll be brown and I have no more brown paint for the moment), started to paint the eyes purple and have added a bit more shading to the metallic parts. I didn't take any pictures of my progress because of the atrocious lighting so I'll upload some more pictures on Monday. Anyway, hopefully I'll manage to paint up the whole squad in yellow as I'm actually really enjoying the painting process and have leared quite a bit from my (stupid) mistakes. As always, any C&C or encouragement is welcome! Cheers, Ludo
  3. "Primarch-Progenitor, to your glory and the glory of him on earth!" Hello everyone, This here will chronicalise the formation of my Imperial Fists Chapter. Once Forge World announced that they were releasing books for the Horus Heresy Era, I had to make a Pre-Heresy army. And what better Legion to build other than the Imperial Fists? The Legion whose Primarch was elected to the rank of Warmaster after Horus fell to the ruinous powers, and charged with the responsibility to fortify the home planet and fortress to our Lord Emperor! Anyway, formalities out of the way... blah blah blah... Here is my current HQ choice (unless my Black Templars Marshal stands in as Lysander. I'm currently working on purchasing a metal one) This is my Librarian whose power of choice is Psychic Shriek. A Nasty power that has destroyed many. Has already brought down a Wraithknight turn 1! Haha! My current project: Rogal Dorn. Now this isn't a Games Workshop model. This is actually one from a company called Kabuki. This is no longer available as only 500 were made. I actually had to buy this one at a high price off of ebay. Tactical Marines: 1st Squad (A Roman Numeral 1 is on their right shoulder (left side) showing that they are from 1st Squad. I also have a 2nd and I'm working on a 3rd pretty soon.) My first attempt at source lighting on this plasma gun here. Not the best but I feel that I did a decent job. Techmarines from my two Thunderfire Cannons. I like to run a fluffy list so I do a lot of defense. And for competitiveness I bring in some drop pods to deliver crippling blows. Dreadnought with two autocannons. Used the Ironclad body because it just fits the Imperial Fists perfectly. The missiles on top are just for show. And some Sternguard. Gotta love the Sternguard. Always run at least two squads of ten in drop pods.
  4. 4th company at the moment need a few units to finish it out but definately getting there. Sorry for the huge delay in updates as rl and other armies have gotten in the way of progress but here I am ready to finish. 4ths banner And here is my freehand take on it As for the rest of this hope to hear lots of comments and criticism anything I can do to make this army and thread better and more enjoyable I will. First up Captain Ethan Cain, I run him as a chapter master since he is master of the fleet so I can get Orbital Bombardment, with a thunder hammer and artificer armour. On the bike ill add a SE. Company Command Squad and my atm Lysander, but will become a termi assault sergeant when I get a termi aslt sqd and a lysander model 4th companies Chaplain Cromack 4th Companies Librarian 4th Companies Techmarine Count as Chapter master for when I run bikes like a cheese ball 2nd tac squad and their rhino/razorback 4th tac squad and their rhino/razorback 5th tac squad and their rhino/razorback 7th assault squad on bikes 8th assault squad 9th devistator squad (fielding my dev's diferently so I can potentially run 4 of them by having 8 heavy weps and 2 potential sarges per squad.) 10th devistator squad 11th devistator squad in Centurion warsuites (plan on my company being slightly over strength.) 4th companies primary thunderfire cannon 4ths Motorpool Custom achellies CONTINUED IN SECOND POST
  5. I just played a 2k game against Black Templar with Imperial Fist allies. His was more of a test for IF allies, mine was a test for DA allies. My list: HQs Shrike Sammael(Corvex) Elites Vanguard Vet Squad - x10 Jump packs, 4x PWs, Sarge with P Axe and SS (RG) Venerable Dread - Drop Pod, MM Troops Sniper Scout Squad (DA) Tactical Marines - x10, Meltagun (RG) Scouts in LSS, Bolters (RG) Fast Attack Assault Marine Squad - x10 men, Meltabomb, CS, PW Ravenwing Black Knights x5 (DA) Heavy Stormraven - TLMM, TLPC(RG) Thunderfire ADL/Quadgun His list(Best I can recall): Emperors Champion IF Captain with PF Master of the Forge Conversion Beamer Command Squad with Apothecary Drop Pod x5 Man Crusader Squad x5 Man Sniper Scouts x10 Man IF Tac Heavy Bolter x10 Man IF Tac Heavy Bolter x9 Man Sternguard x5 Combi-melta x4 combi-plas Drop Pod x10 Man Vanguard with a large assortment of PW and SS loaded for bear ADL/Quadgun Mission: The Scouring Deployment: Dawn of War Deployment He won the roll off, he deployed first. There were a lot of ruins and some mysterious terrain. The objectives were almost perfectly divided. His ADL/QG were front on center with an objective behind it and a tall ruin. He put both Tac squads on either side of the QG behind the ADL with the MotF above and behind them in the ruin. The crusader squad was on my left in a ruin towards the left midfield objective. I deployed my TFC on my right flank in a ruin and the ADL/QG on my left using the ruin to box in an objective and put my AMs in it at the edge of my deployment. The BK/Sammael were outflanking. My Tac squad was in the 'Raven. I won the roll off for infiltrators. I put my Sniper Scouts in the ruin above the objective. Shrike on the VV infiltrated into a body of water 12" (LoS blocked by a ruin) from his right Tac squad, near the edge of my right and center tile edge. I put my LSS right next to them for the jamming beacon on the tile edge and behind another ruin. He put his Sniper Scouts in a ruin to my far right next to the board edge and an objective. I did not try to seize. The hunt had begun. Turn 1 Night-fighting in effect. The objective next to his IF tacs was worth 4 points, mine was worth 3, the one on the left was worth 1 and the center-ish one was worth 3 and the one near my TFC was worth 2 and the one near his snipers was worth 2. His objective was a grav-wave generator. The others were too far away. He was going to drop his Stern/IF Cap next to Shrike but he realized my LSS had a jamming beacon(He had fallen for it a few games back already) so he tried to drop it exactly 12" away almost in the exact center of the board. It scatted 10" in front of his QG. Bonus! He disembarked them on the opposite side of my VV/Shrike towards his ADL. He shuffled his eft IF Tac into the ruin to join with the MotF. His snipers took a wound off my TFC. His Conversion Beamer wounded some AMs but I saved them all. I was too far away/out of LoS for anything else. My QG intercepted his stern and killed 1. My objective was also a grav-wave. Ven Dread came down right next to his DP and in front of the ADL. The Dread disembarked with his DP between it and the QG. My AMs jumped up towards his Stern. VV/Shrike jumped over the ruin and were right in front of the right IF Tac squad. LSS followed the VVs. Snipers killed 2 Sterns. TFC whiffed. Dread ate his DP. First Blood to me. AMs tried to assault his stern but were short, even with WD. I shouldn't have shot at the stern. Their casualties made me fail the charge. VVs easily got into CC with his IF Tac squad. My VV Sarg with PA/SS challened his IF sarge. I lost 1 plain VV and he lost all 9 tac marines. 4 from Shrike alone and the rest from PWs. My sarge died in the challenge. He tried to break but I caught him and we were locked in CC. WHich was good. Turn 2 None of his reserves came in. He moved his stern towards my AMs. He killed off my TFC and killed 3 AMs from everything that could shoot them. Sterns only used bolt pistols. Shrike watched while the VVs killed the IF tac sarge and consolidated 5" towards the ruin with the MotF/IF Tac squad in it. The sterns assaulted my AM's and we tied combat. His captain broke off to fight my dread but a failed invul ID'd him. My 'Raven and BKs came in. I moved the 'Raven up about 20" where a DP blocked LoS from his QG. The BKs came in from the left side, which is where I wanted them. I knew he would send his Champ after Shrike so I wanted to set up Sammael to intercept. Shrike and crew hopped into the ruin with the IF Tacs. My lonely Tech ran towards the snipers. The Snipers/BKs/'Raven killed the crusader squad on the left. PotMS missile took a wound off the QG. Shrike assaulted the Tacs and refused the challenge. His sarg had a PF and I wanted to take no risks with Shrike. the VVs killed all but the MotF and a random Tac. He tried to break but I caught him. My dread charged in with the Stern and my AMs and won 3-1 wounds. He passed morale. Turn 3 His VV and CS/Champ came in. He planted his CS/CHamp right next to the ruin with Shrike. Just as planned. his VV landed next to my Tech. No idea why he did that. My QG intercepted them and killed one. His snipers headshot my Tech. Shrike maimed the MotF and the VV killed the last Tac. I consolidated 5" out of the ruin away from is CHamp. Dread/AM lost combat 2-0 due to the Dread whiffing but didn't break. His VV ran towards the 2 point objective and it was sabotaged and exploded killing none. Sammael and crew moved up next to his ADL and CS/Champ and unloaded killing 2. 'Raven flew up and unloaded killing 2 more. Tacs stayed inside. LSS moved up, scouts jumped out and killed the QG. Shrike and crew joined my Dread/AMs and slaughtered the stern. Sammael made the charge into the Champ and the last Vet. The BKs killed the Vet and Sammael and the Champ did no wounds. Turn 4 My Tacs jumped out and grabbed the 4 pointer. My SNipers huddled around the 3 pointer. His snipers grabbed the 2 pointer and the VVs made a break for my snipers. They were over 48" away so I wasnt worried. At this point he knew it was over so we just did Sammael vs Emperors Champion. Sammael won. Eternal Warrior was key here. Victory 10-3 me. 7 Objective Points, 1 Slay the Warlord, 1 First Blood, 1 Line-breaker. He got 2 Objective Points and Line-breaker. Over all it was fun. I expected his Stormtalon but was surprised he didnt bring it. Shrike/VV and Sammael/BK were two unstoppable pain trains. The support from my 'Raven and Snipers were perfect. Going second with SHrike/VV infiltrating so close was great. My LSS jamming beacon probably won me the game as SHrike/VV got in CC without a single casualty and I only lost 4 VV the whole game as they were in CC every turn they made their points back and more. Sammael is the perfect HQ hunter and Shrike is the perfect assassin. Winged Deliverance did a bunch of wounds but he saved them all. The re-rolls for charge range didnt really affect the game but were a nice back up.
  6. Hello brothers and sisters, children of Dorn all! Welcome to this mini challenge to get people back into this tucked away part of the B&C and to get your painting/writing itch scratched! To keep this as open as possible, I'm keeping the rules simple: You vow to EITHER fully paint a single model representing a Son of Dorn OR you write up a 700 word snippet about a character from Dorn's genetic lineage (Note: entries which do not have the exact number of words allowed shall not be accepted). You may start as of today and must complete your vow by 1st May 2015, 1200 GMT. WIP pictures of your model are not required, but I encourage you paint up a new model and not just re-use an already painted one. Once you have completed your vow, you may post your results in this thread. For completing your vow, you shall receive a special banner to commemorate and celebrate your successful vow! So, brothers and sisters, it is now time to break out your paint servitors/auto-quills and show your dedication to Dorn and the Emperor! Ave Imperator!

He had started his Harpy on the board in turn 1, so it was gliding. (Despite our conversation on our way to GW about starting it in reserves as it would be more dangerous). The harpy took everything I could throw at it for the first turn, surviving with a single wound left. As I went through my psychic phase, targeting every power I had on his genestealers, hid broodlord denied everything, even when I tried to use Force, he managed to deny that too. (My terminators and librarian disembarked after the landraider moved forwards so I could use my powers lol) The only casualty of the turn was, in fact, an assault terminator who failed his save vs the exploding wrecked lander. (Terrain piece) His first turn saw a cautious advance, the harpy glide forwards towards my terminators, and a couple of minor position changes. His shooting phase was effective, no casualties at all. A few large creatures ran to get to a better position, but no assaults. My turn 2 saw an awful lot of carnage. The predator sat still and unleashed on the Tyrannofex, the harpy died, a carnifex went down, last wound taken by a boltgun! I assaulted the haruspex and killed it, to deny its HoW attack. Tyranids turn 2 saw more moving, some shooting (ineffective) and the warriors join against the terminators with the Tyrannofex. We ended it after that really, as my son had lost interest, and got grumpy cos a couple of his biggest monsters were dead. Some pics from the end of my first turn. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/IMG_0150.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/IMG_0149.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/IMG_0151.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Damosmy/2015%20Models/IMG_0148-1.jpg
  8. I just want to show my Imperial Fists 3rd company so far: 2 Tactical squads, 2 Devastator squads, 1 Scout sniper squad, 1 Sternguard squad, 1 Company standard bearer (First dude in my command squad) 1 Captain with some sort of shield and power fist. In the background you can see some Flesh eaters and a Dreadclaw belonging to my 30K Emperors Children.
  9. Over in this thread: http://www.bolterand...phase-finished/, Black Cohort is looking on some input for the key units and rules that identify the IFs. The thread is to re-build the CRB and 'dexes from the ground up. I'm looking for your input brothers. What units do you feel are key? Are there any rules that you feel are key to running an IF army?
  10. I'm contemplating an army of these guys, and did one up to compare to my Dark Angels. As stated in the Dark Angels forum, I have been really impressed with that Tactical Marine box that I've been painting as Imperial Fists (I havent had to buy a new box of marines in years, so I wasn't expecting how nicely the kit was redone.) I had my first Imperial Fists game yesterday using the Sentinels of Terra book. I took a list that was a combination of stuff I read on the internet, and stuff that attracted me to do this experiment in the first place. I played against new Orks, did not get first turn, and set up my army and was shocked how fast he was in my face. The entire game I was shocked how few models I had on the table (I must have honestly reviewed my list 5 times trying to figure out if I was actually plyaing 1850 or 1500 pts.) I took quite a beating and really thought that my Dark Angels lists might have been better suited for this opponent.... but I wanted to play it out. I had a really tough go of it as the first 2 turns I could not get any Tactical Objectives done (kill a psyker, etc.) and he was getting a few points a turn. He did do some weird stuff with his Orks, but I managed to hang in there, and had the WEIRDEST turn in close combat with Lysander.... I had a Fail Librarian that could not pass a test if his life depended on it. Get this: Librarian has failed every attempt at psychic powers going in to three (that's 4 failed tests so far). Then against Ork Bikes and a warlord on a bike who is Toughness 6, the Libby gets out a Malediction: Enfeeble. Lysander is down to his last wound. The Ork Warboss with a power claw has all of his wounds. The Libby passes the Enfeeble test, but blows his own head off in the process, attracting some daemon who apparently goes after crappy librarians. The Warboss goes down to Toughness 5 for the turn as a result - Lysander (who has been whiffing all game) winds up the Hammer, and slams the Warboss on the side of the face (finally!) smashing him right down into his bike killing him right there for D3 bonus victory points (Lysander's Warlord Trait) getting me a tie game. We tied, and I couldn't believe I caught up to him. The table was total destruction. I had a bastion, a few Imperial Fists tacticals, the Bastion with Devs, and a Stormtalon. He was down to 2 bikes, and a few kopters. Insane game, but very interesting learning experience for me using units that I wanted to try as a Dark Angel player. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In hindsight I wanted to test out stuff I was always very curious about using Sentinels of Terra and units I couldn't access as a DA player. Somethings were definitely not as impressive as I had hoped, and I wonder if it might be worth doing CF's for Pedro and his super scoring Sternguard. The mega bolter drill was fun though. :)
  11. I was thinking of getting a couple of terrain pieces to display my army with. What does everybody currently use? I thought the wall of Martyrs would be a good fit for descendants of Dorn, but the Shrine of the Aquila looks awesome, and is actually a good piece of LoS blocking Terrain, so would be good for games too.
  12. Thanks to brother Tyler im now able to post pictures which im going to do if only to encourage myself! So may i introduce Captain of the 8th Company Tibor Reitz, Lord Executioner and Saviour of Xianthe This is going to be the first completed model i have painted in years and i hope to complete a full codex compliant mixed force soon but all support companies. Just completed a yellow colour test, let me know what you think.. I swear the yellow is a bit smoother should be an ok gaming standard i hope?
  13. I've begun my Imperial Fists Sentinels of Terra army. Critiques and comments appreciated.
  14. + Walls Fail, Fists Do Not! + [+image source+] + + + + + "Since the dawn of the Imperium, the VIIth Legion was known for its mastery of siegecraft. During the glorious Great Crusade, the Imperial Fists were tasked with defending Terra, birthworld of Mankind. They were elevated above their brothers to make sure the bastion of Humanity was safe from any threat. Alongside this unique honour, they were also deployed on battlefields where their brother Legions could not succeed without great loss of life and equipment. The Fists fell upon enemy fortifications like a hammer, blasting their way through rock and steel to make way for the armies of the Emperor. They were also the last line of defence when the thrice-cursed Horus led his corrupted Legions to assault Terra and successfully held the Traitors at bay for months on end. After the Heresy and the rise of the Codex Astartes, the Imperial Fists and their successors are still the undisputed masters of siege warfare. Despite a large number of Chapters finding other areas of bloody expertise, no Son of Dorn has truly forgotten the art of siegecraft and will always stand ready to raise new bastions or tear down the walls behind which the enemies of Mankind cower." + + + + + Introduction With the dust having finally settled from the last Imperial Fists Expansion, it is now time to move on to our next event! This one shall be shorter and in many ways easier than the aforementioned challenge. The idea is for each participant to create a model which represents the Dornian passion and expertise in all areas of siege warfare. Whether you choose to create a Crimson Fist Battle-Brother with a breacher shield or Interdictor Assault Marine with a scenic base representing a blasted Imperial fortress, it is up to you! The limits are your imagination, not the wargear options of the Codex: Space Marines ! Rules Pledge: You must vow to fully assemble and base a single infantry-sized model by 12:00 GMT on Sunday 17th January. The model does not have to be "Codex-legal" and may include items of wargear that are not a part of Codex: Space Marines or the Horus Heresy army lists. An infantry-sized model means a model in Artificer/Power/Scout/Terminator armour. Point values for the models are completely irrelevant for this challenge.Note: The thread will automatically lock once the deadline is reached but shall be re-opened shortly afterwards for the final announcement and rewards. Awards Each completed vow gives a single point towards your total in the Hall of Heroes (incoming). If you choose to paint your model and successfully do so before the deadline or if you add a piece of fluff about the model (of at least 50 words), an extra point shall be awarded. If you paint the model and write a piece of fluff, you will receive two extra points. 15. Seeing that the beloved Casandora Yellow is about to go the way of the dodo, I've come up with a simple yet easy (I know ;) ) method for a good, nice saturated "taxi Marine" yellow. 1. Prime whatever color you want. Black works well for a preshade, but white or grey is just as well. 2. Basecoat with two layers of Averland Sunset. One might be enough on white. 3. Layer in with Vallejo Game Color 72.007 Gold Yellow (Amarillo Dorado). 4. Profit (and wash, weather, detail, whatever you feel like, mate). Picture with zero retouch, good white balance and light. Yes, it IS this saturated. Averland is fairly flat, but the VGC 007 is the James Bond of this movie. http://i.imgur.com/4oAPboM.jpg
  16. Greetings Brothers and Sisters, I know that our proud chapter have invented many tactical formations during the millenias. But I just want to share my next project for our gaming group's next: 1500pts/player 3vs3 multiplayer match. This list is highly unbound and in our gaming group unbound is allowed, as long as it is somewhat friendly gaming. This is just for fun. ^^ http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd520/lundmarkaren/2015-04-13%2023.51.10.jpg The list: Command squad: Company Champion (Emperors Champion), Power Sword. 17. Imperial Fists Expansion III In the wake of the recent rise in Chaos and Warp activity, the Chapter Master of the Imperial Fists has decreed that his Chapter must bolster its strength to counter the rising and terrible threat. All battle-brothers have been recalled to the Phalanx to re-arm and prepare for the coming onslaught. New aspirants have been recruited in the hope that a number of them will complete the full transformation into an Astartes to replace losses caused by the upcoming conflicts. The Techmarines and their Servitors aboard Chapter Forge-Ships work ceaselessly to repair damaged wargear and produce new materials of war. The Chapter Ancients are being roused to better aid their Chapter with their extensive wisdom and knowledge in warfare. The Chaplains, deep within the Reclusiam, prepare their sermons and most holy relics. The Librarians steel their minds against the predations of thw Warp, expecting the surge of malefic psychic activity. The line Astartes, each confined for a short time to their hab-cells, reflect upon the upcoming war effort, each Battle-Brother with vows to their Primarch and the Emperor of Mankind upon their lips. And yet, despite the martial prowess of the Astartes under his command and the great war machines that he has at his disposal, the Chapter Master, ever concious of the Legions of Chaos that lie in wait within the Great Eye, has sent out astropathic hails far out into the galaxy, attempting to reach the ears of the other Chapters who claim to be of the great line of Dorn. The Crimson Fists, Celestial Lions, Excoriators, Executioners, Subjugators, Iron Knights, and even the renegade Soul Drinkers, have been contacted to send their own Battle-Brothers to fight back their traitorous brethren and corrupted followers. After many months of preparation, hundreds of fully armoured Battle-Brothers assemble in the Great Hall aboard the Phalanx, before the Chapter Master of the Imperial Fists. The thousand voices all shout the same words, loud and clear, in defiance to the Warp-filth that spills forth from the Immaterium: "For Dorn and the Emperor!" Rules You may enter any models that represent the proud Sons of Dorn. No other models/Chapters will be allowed (if unsure, this list gives you a good indication; please note that DIY Chapters are accepted); The Expansion runs from today, 15th September 2015, until 23:00 GMT on 15th December 2015. Any models submitted after this deadline will not be counted; You may make up to six vows over the course of the Expansion. However, if you do make multiple vows, but fail to complete the last one, the previous vows will be counted towards your vow completion total. You must also complete your first vow to be able to make a second one, complete your second before vowing a third, etc; Each vow must be made up of at least one unit from the latest Codex: Space Marines, Imperial Armour Vol 2 - War Machines of the Adeptus Astartes, or the relevant Forge World Horus Heresy books. No exceptions. After each vow is made, you must supply a "starting picture" (the state your models are in before you start building/painting them), at least one "work in progress" (WIP) update, and a final "completed" picture. If you wish to post more WIP updates, you are free to do so. Also, if you wish to post your progress in your own thread in the Forge or here in the subforum, you're also free to do so, providing that you send me a PM with a link to your thread! For those of you who like to write some fluff for your units, I can only encourage you to do so, as their might be a special something for you once the competiton ends (along with a few other potential surprises for others). If you have any questions, please do no hesitate to post them in this thread, or to PM me directly. 18. Hey all, I am still relatively new to the 40K universe. About 3 years ago, a friend got me interested in the game and I've been slowly collecting bits and pieces for a Space Marine army. I hadn't done anything with it for awhile and about a month ago dug out my box and started poking around. First thing I did was finally decide on a chapter. Based on the section I am posting, you can guess what chapter I chose. Then I found out what I had. It turns out, I am very close to having a complete battle company. So I decided to model the 3rd battle company of the Imperial Fists. I went down to my FLGS and grabbed a couple boxes of those cheap space marines for paint practice and quickly cursed my decision. YELLOW SUCKS! I started out trying the "Citadel method", but found that to be too slow for my liking. Then I tried Army Painter color primer. While that achieved the results I wanted, it also went on very thick. Then I stumbled on some magic.....I spray a coat of Tamiya Surface Primer White, then hand brush a base coat of War Paint "Daemonic Yellow". The highlight colors are Citadel colors. Once I've finished that, I brush on a coat of Army Painter Soft Tone Quickshade and spray anti shine. In this thread, I will document my progress. Here is my Company Champion. And Sergeant Garadon of the first squad, 3rd company.
  19. So I took a page out of Jeremy1391's book and I have started a push to finish at least two full tactical squads of 5th Company fists. Its starting slow, but here's what I have so far and I'm finally happy with the yellow: Sarge with a fist: http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/nowhereman31388/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0262.jpg http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/nowhereman31388/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0263.jpg http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/nowhereman31388/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0261.jpg I am happier to do battle damage to the armor instead of painstakingly cleaning up mistakes. Makes them look like veteran fighters too. Will be posting more soon!
  20. Okay so I just got a tip that I tried out on how to create that perfect, Fisty, golden yellow. For a long time that beautiful golden yellow eluded me (we all remember how hard Yellow used to be to paint). Well...I think I just fixed my problem. Recipe: (75/25 mix) Cassandora Yellow and water (2 washes), white highlight (heavy), Lamenter's yellow glaze. Give me your thoughts!
  21. To any IF players out there I have been painting a small force of Imperial Fists using the following methods for the yellow with the old GW paints: Primer black First layer the Yellow foundation paint (Iyridian yellow or something like that, cant remember the exact name) Hit the gryphone sepia wash in the crevices then light coat of Golden Yellow to give it the proper Yellow color I desire. This worked well for a basic table top color scheme I dont get to paint very much and my out put is slow I have a decent stock of old paint left and have not even looked at GW's new paint range What would you guys who are more in the know suggest for me to purchase (from the new paint range) when my stocks run out and I am forced to paint with the new paints, to obtain a similar result from my above paint scheme? Looking to keep it simple.
  22. Imperial Fist Expansion II In the wake of the recent rise in Chaos and Warp activity, the Chapter Master of the Imperial Fists has decreed that his Chapter must bolster its strength to counter the rising and terrible threat. Hundreds of fully armoured Battle-Brothers assemble in the centre of the Phalanx, before their Chapter Master. The thousand voices all shout the same words, loud and clear, in defiance to the Warp-filth that spills forth from the Immaterium: "For Dorn and the Emperor!" After that little introductory bit of text, I welcome you all to the second Imperial Fist Expansion. The aim of this competition is to enable Imperial Fist players to get the motivation needed to paint their various units so that they can be proud to deploy a fully-painted army of yellow Space Marine on the battlefield! If you want to see how the first Expansion was like, click here! Rules You make a vow of how many models you will paint by the end of the competition. You may vow as many models as you wish, as long as they are painted up as Imperial Fists Astartes. No other Chapters accepted. Then, you crack out your paint pots, brushes and models and get painting! You must provide at least two Work in Progress (WIP) pictures of your vow and then a final picture of the completed model(s). You are allowed to add to your vow if you finish painting your first batch of models, but you cannot remove any already pledged models from your vow! You must do all of this before the end of the competition! As you can see, it is not difficult and it is a great oppurtunity to slap some paint onto your models and show the Imperial Fist community here on the B&C some support :) For the vow, please copy/paste and complete the following form: Vows Rhetoricus - a full Terminator Squad - [Progress thread] Brother Syth - a full Tactical Squad in MKVI armour and a Fellblade - [Progress thread] Battle-Brother Ludovic - half a Tactical Squad - [Progress thread] Grey Paladin - half a Tactical Squad - Kyram'vhett - two full Tactical Squads and First Captain Lysander - Captain Antonius - half a Bike Squad, a Captain on bike, and a Chaplain on bike - moric - a full Devastator Squad, a full Terminator Squad and an Aegis Defense Line - [Progress thread] Coopervisor - half a Devastator Squad - corai - a full Boarding Marine Squad (MkIII armour) and a Contemptor Dreadnought (boarding assault themed) - Mazer Rackham - a full Tactical Squad - Demon2027 - a full Tactical Squad - Lestat - half a Terminator Squad and half a Sternguard Squad (MkV armour) - almightyjesus55 - a full Tactical Squad - Reyner - Sigismund, First Captain - Nards08 - one Stormtalon Gunship - Eliath - two full Tactical Squads, half a Scout Squad, and a Terminator Librarian - Brother Mord - a Drop pod and half a Devastator Squad - Mystech1 - half a Tactical Squad - BattlebrotherJohn - a Captain and a Veteran Sergeant (count-as Veteran Sergeant Haas) - Brother Kataklysm - a single Tactical Astartes - Do not forget to enjoy yourself and if by some misfortune you are not able to complete your vow, just tell us here and then go and spend a couple of weeks in the Pain Glove ;) Last, but not least, here is the participation banner that you should all wear in your signature to show your participation in this Expansion! Sign up will go on until 6th October, so be speedy with your vows! Cheers, Ludovic
  23. I`ve seen Fury with Brad Pitt last week and just can`t resist. I am starting Imperial Fists army and it will be build on the tank story. Some big contingent of 5th Company was ambushed at hostile Ork territory and had sustained heavy losses, all communication has broken down. Only survivors are the remnants of 1st Tactical Squad and Librarian Markus. Preparing themselves for the glorious last stand against unending tide of greenskins and defending holy vehicle when guns ran dry and all hope is to be lost. In the very last moment they see patrolling Land Speeder, sent from base to look for survivors of the orkish ambush. Sergeant Rosario of the 2nd Scout Unit delivers hellish bolter salvo and make Orks running away. This is where the story begins... I was always building my armies on some story and this time couldn`t be different. I think Fury story fits my army very well, I really can`t see other explanation to have small 500pts army where you got Land Raider and scouts squad with Land Speeder. Idea of battle hardened veterans being rescued by their younger brethrens is flavour rich and opens many possibilities for future army building. Next chapter for my story is laborious come back to the Imperial Fists base through hostile land hopefully rescuing more survivors and forming bigger party. Transforming 5th Company survivors from prey to hunters. And there is my first Space Marine:
