Thanks for the comments guys, Pleased you all approve :D

@Biohazard - The trophies are a mixture of parts from the CSM and CSM vehicle sprues:

So the parts that are circled or not dulled out are the bits used, I didn't want to have any of the 'arrow heads' on top of the trophies. The bottoms on some of the spikes are from the vehicle trophy racks. Hope that helps mate :)

Morning all!

It's been a week since my last update but I have managed some work on my Night Lord's Contemptor. I was working on my vow for the Iron Without contest but I failed that miserably due to a lack of enthusiasm for the model I was painting. It was also a Dreadnought but I had done some conversion work and to be perfectly honest I was not at all happy with how it turned out.

Anyway, so far I have done the metal areas on the back and legs using Rhinox Hide as a base and a heavy dry brush of Leadbelcher. I like this method because it saves using washes to tone down the metal which also saves time and gives the metal a more worn look.

I have also worked on the blue for the torso and started filling in the details like the wings and scroll work and also some of the bronze areas. I used the same base paint for the scroll work and the skulls/helmet but I will be using different methods to stop them looking the same on the finished model.

Thanks for looking, C&C always welcome.

Cheers dude, when equipped with the close combat claw and the lascannons i plan on having him looking as though he has just spotted someone to kill and is more at rest. When he has the assault cannons he will have the right arm resting and the left in line with his eyes as though firing from the hip.

I will try and get some pictures of him with the arms though I haven't finished customising the assault cannons yet.

Thanks Vairocanum :). There is certainly enough space to add a corpse to the base. I will have a look at what bits I have laying around and see if I can come up with something - I still have a fair few MKIII Marines left over from BoP but I was trying to save some of them for a loyalist legion at some point, both my legions are traitor scum (Word Bearers and Night Lords). I have also finished the main body now so I should have a picture of that when daylight resumes.

More work done to my Contemptor. I have taken the pictures with the arms on so you guys can see the pose I'm going for. I decided to have the claw in an upright position. This is due to a magnet coming loose after painting and refusing to go back into the hole properly :furious:.

There is still a lot of work to do on the assault cannon arms. They where an eBay purchase with the two Contemptors for my Word Bearers and are in need of some love to get them to a point where they are usable. Unfortunately the cannon on the left arm is glued incorrectly and I think they have used plastic glue so I will have to see if I can do anything to resolve that.

C&C always welcome.

That looks totally mega!  :laugh.:

Very dark and foreboding - yet crisp and deep blues ... the lightning, just brilliant!

On the AssCan with the plastic glue, you may be able to slip a blade down the joint and prise it apart, it may require some gs afterwards to make it good but at least it'll be free ... ?

Your work is awesome Nemac, think you capture the vibe of the night lords perfectly. Also given me some ideas on how I could improve my own painting techniques, keep up the good work!

Thanks mate :D, I tried to use my hobby knife but couldn't get it to go through, I'll try changing the blade and giving it another shot :tu:

I think you've adapted your scheme for larger areas perfectly! :smile.:

Thanks Chaz, I started by making the first two steps thicker, I now need to get some proper armour to give it a go on :D

Thanks Crow, pleased I could be of service, though I don't think you need much help having seen your Iron Warriors :D.

Lascannons tonight and then the CC weapon if I get time.

Thanks Nephilim :D. Which cloak do you mean? The one on the Librarian was part of the model from FW and the Terminator Sergeant used the cloak from the Chaos Lord with just the top part sculpted. I didn't do any weathering as such for either just painted them starting with Khorne Red washed with Nuln Oil and working up with Evil Sunz Scarlet and Troll Slayer Orange.

Hope that helps, if not let me know if it was something different and I'll be more then happy to elaborate :tu:

Ahh OK, the cloak on the right is from the Lord Zhufor model from FW which already comes with the holes. The left is an Instamold cast from the Zhufor cloak and the centre is from the Chaos Lord which already comes as is, except it has the vents and fur pelt over the top. To get the holes in the one on the left though I used a fine pointed hobby knife to cut them out after it had cured and the same with the rips at the bottom, I then filed the holes down with a rounded file.

Sorry to say I didn't really sculpt any of those cloaks, only the tops to get them to hang over the shoulders :(.

So as I said before I was going to try and finish the lascannon arm for the Contemptor last night and I was successful with my deadline. Pretty pleased with how it worked out and now I just have the close combat arm to finish, then it's on to the twin assault cannons. I have some more work to do on the assault cannons, having persuaded my mother to part with some of her unused and damaged costume jewellery so I can pinch the chains for a bit of added detail.

I also have to finish the dead marine for the base (Thanks Vairocanum!), which will be a Dark Angel (Sorry Raz ) so it fits in with the other corpses dotted around the bases.

C&C always welcome.
